Hello Everyone. I've been a fan of Lego trains ever since I saw 4559 Cargo Railway in a Lego catalog when I was a child. Lego Trains were too expensive for my family so I had secondhand HO scale trains to play with from cheaper sources. When I left for College I had my own funds to pick up some small 9 volt lots on the web and before I knew it, I had some track and a motor to build an engine on top of. I recently finished my first MOC Locomotive. My collection is quite small but I have acquired a few cars, a set, and track switch in the past year while MOC'ing some of my own. As you can see my layout is small also: My layout is under construction. I wish to put it on a big piece of plywood painted green and buy more track to expand my railroad. I hope to obtain the newer trains before they sold out before I regret missing out on them like I did when I wasn't able to grab a copy of 10170 TTX. I hope to chalk up my 100th post with becoming the first 'V' member in the Train Tech Registry.

Nice layout 'MXLPT' Can't wait to see the photo galleries in full detail. How much space does your layout currently take?

Oops, that's my mistake 'tbroyd' I looked at the wrong price when I was converting to USD. Still at $243 I can almost but 2 of the current PF train sets. I expecting the price to be between the passenger train and cargo train prices hopfully. I hope to pick up 7939 before this one though.

Yeah when I was younger it was cheaper for my family to buy used HO sets than go and buy new Lego train sets. Me and my family built large layouts of these used sets from yard sales and such. I didn't get my first lego trains till I started college and I agree that they are very portable. Yeah I agree. Video gaming is my other big hobby. Whether it be the current systems or the old ones I grew up on. When I go to second hand stores I'm equally looking for buckets of lego as compoents for my older gaming systems.

130 Euros!?! That's $180 roughly in US dollars. That's the same price for the current cargo train. It's probably a matter of supply and demand of this set on that website. Hopefully in August the 'true' prices will show and be significantly cheaper than the current cargo train. At least we get straight track will it and not just flex track.

What do you do for End of Line Bumper Blocks?

I got a light gray buffer beam awhile ago in a mixed train piece auction off eBay. So I put it to some good use: It keeps my 4563 in check on my only sliding with the rail cars on the 4 pieces of PF straight track and the 9 Volt engine on the powered switch. -
My collection is quite small: 4537 Octan Twin Tank 4563 Load and Haul Railroad 7939 Octan Tanker Car Only And a few MOCs: EMD SW1500 (UP Livery) TTX Frontrunner Piggyback Car 10-Wide Container Car (Based on the one from 7939) I hope to build/obtain more TTX intermodal cars along with the Maersk Train and a full 7939 Cargo Train set in the near future.

I like this idea and agree with the high price of 6600-2. Transportation and construction are my favorite parts of Lego city. We've been lacking a freeway or highway set since the Town Jr. days. TLG could put addition pieces such as ramps, road decks, and curves etc. on PaB. That way you can expand your expressway no matter how big or small your layouts. I can see the sign: 'Lego City. Exit Only'

Thanks, surprisingly the trailer stays still at high speeds through the curves. I guess the studs of the plates keep the tires in check during motion.

Hello Everyone, After over a year of planning, gathering bricks, making decals, and working on it on & off between work and school, I finally finished my first Locomotive MOC. Over a year ago I decided to come out of my dark ages for good and I opened up my box of 9 volt track and saw my 9 volt motor with no loco built on it. I bought some small Lego gift sets that we're on clearance at the time and noticed the main colors were red and yellow. From then on I decided to start small and build a 6-wide EMD SW1500 Union Pacific Switcher. Without further a do I bring you the finished model. SW1500 UP 1194 This is loosely based off of a L Gauge model that I used for guidance. Of course I had to make it my own. I shorten the slope of the engine, made a bigger cab, made the cab and engine taller, used SNOT techniques all around, added rails, more lights, and a light bar at the head of the cab. The rear inverted slope SNOT technique on the rear of the cab I reversed engineered from a SOO SW1500 at a train show in a Brickshelf folder that I saw awhile ago. Over all I believe it looks more like the real thing with the little details. I did, however, center the front engine lights versus the off-center front engine lights on the real one. I did so for good reason... Using PF lights, 9V/PF Cable, and hours upon hours of rebuilding & aligning the fuel tank, wires, and motor. I was able to light this Loco and be able to go through curves and switches. Now I'm able to do switching at night. A switcher is no good without any cars to move. So I built 2 to join my fleet of cars from 4563 and my two Octan cars (4537,7939.) The first is a TTX Piggyback Spine Car that I reversed engineered from (again) a L Gauge model. I modded the front of the car and made the trailer chassis a plate taller to allow a 3491 to be placed so it can be hauled by a 4-wide semi-tractor. Added the TTX logo and away she goes! The Next car I built is a container car based off the the one in 7939, but this one is built to transport the 6x10 containers. My first set I bought in years was the 7992 Container Stacker, so to incorporate it in my layout I built this train car. As you can see it is a small, simplified version of the one in 7939 but in Green! I chose green for 3 reasons: 1. It matches 7992 stacker, 2. Not too many green Lego train cars out there, 3. It's my favorite color. In addition to the 2 containers with 7992, I've built two more, and got another yellow one when I obtained the truck from 7994 on eBay. I slapped a Lego logo on the one from 7994 and put 2 of my own cargo ones on the others. As you can see they are not as perfect as the official one but close enough for taste. So here are the spoils of my work. Here's a little history of the reference. The actual UP 1194 started life as Southern Pacific 2623. It was repainted during the merger: UP 1194 served for a few more years for Union Pacific before being auctioned offed a few years ago. Currently, based on online photo evidence, it sits at a scrapping, rebuilding, and releasing yard awaiting it's new fate. Sorry for the grainy photos for as I use my Cellphone's camera and then turn around and use the phone as an internet modem for my computer. Bricklink folders when moderated. Questions and comments welcomed. Thanks for looking and enjoy.

What a funny story. Glad I don't have kids yet, but I can relate growing up with younger siblings who liked to tear down my MOCs and make their own. Living on my own I don't have to worry about that anymore. What I do have to worry about is when my cats jump on my train table when I leave the office door open. Jumping up there to get away from the dog or just to look out the window the table is next to. I have to reset my cars and locos daily along with my trucks and signage if I forget about the door.

Hmm this is a tough one. I'm not a fan of the super chief and it's streamlined look. I prefer the boxy looks of the newer EMDs. I like the BNSF over the Maersk because I like the dark green and orange colors of the engine. I don't own either of them....yet. I hope own them someday along with a TTX when I could aford them.

Nice MOC Triborough! I like the revision of the wheel sets. The wheels look more realistic versus the TLG axles of their current pickup trucks. I like the style of this moc and was planning on building one myself. The colors are dead on for North American styling. I'm building a yellow diesel dually pickup with simluar body frame and tucked in wheel sets. Great job.

Yeah I noticed that too in my area. 90 percent of it is preschool stuff anyways.

Beautiful MOC alanboar HK! I love the massive size and little details here in the resturant and out. The custom sign on top is suberb! I like the boy in a grey helmet and scarf, he look like he has a phobia of clowns. Great job! Looking at this MOC has me watering for a nice juicy hamburger now.

Impressive vehicles mifody! I love seeing them in batches like this. I ponder if you have enough road for all of these vehicles. I really like the little details like the doors and loading ramps. The pallet jack is a nice touch also. Does it seperate from the pallet or is it one piece? Great job.

I voted for prefab because 9 volt is the only system I've known and use to since it came out at the begining of my lifetime. This is up untill the recent PF/RC systems but they use the same mold without the powered rails. I'm excited for the aftermarket ME rails though. They will give me the chance to build my own rails and ties with the ability to power my 9 volt trains. Makes me wonder why anyone didn't think of it sooner.

Nice MOC frogstudio! I like the colors and the warning tape is a nice touch. I agree with lightningtiger, the loading mechanism is excellent. It will improve your MOW's fuel mileage since the new MOWs don't have couplers like the older sets. Great job!

Wow this review brings back some memories. I remember collecting the Arctic sets when I was a kid. I had them all but this set and 6573-1 Arctic Expedition. Great review -R8- Keep up the good work! I love the functionality and details of this set. I kinda want to order this set off of BrickLink now. I cannot wait to see more reviews of this great theme.

Nice MOC cimddwc.I love the crane! I wish I had enough Maersk Blue to build my own crane. I also like the yard and the interesting back story to it all. Great job!

Nice MOD F0NIX! I like the detailed pics you provided. I think I might borrow this whenever I get my copy of 10219. Good job.

7642 is a okay set for parts. Mutiple vehicles and workshop possibilties. I've seen them at 30 USD and the MSRP 99 USD. As for 7633 I haven't seen a copy of one in a while. If I saw one at a deep discount like those prices, I would not heistate to pick up a copy. I own 7642 but still need a 7633. Mainly for the mobile crane my town is lacking.

Nice WIP city. I believe I have about half the space allotted for my city compared to yours. I just need to buy a piece of plywood to set it up on. I like the beach and the baseplate you used for the garage. I need to find one for mine and to match my old light gray plates.
-
Wow you've out done yourself lightning tiger. The added details look marvelous! Cannot wait to see this train pulling full loads at the train show. Based on the time stamps that was quick. Great speed!

Nice pin stripping lightningtiger. Looks great! I like the decal on the front of the nose. Are you gonna do the lower chevron and the pin stripping around the windows or has the process of it tortured you enough?
