  1. I'm not really hung up on "accuracy" or continuity, so I figure I can just use Revan for whatever. A minifig is a minifig! ^_^ Also, my X-Wing arrived from Amazon, yay!
  2. I ordered Republic Gunship from S@H this weekend. Could've gotten it cheaper elsewhere, but I wanted to participate in May the Fourth for Dark Revan fig and poster. Used some VIP rewards to soften the blow and it's backordered so I have some time to save up. Wish I could've gotten Malevolence and Mando ship for half off, but I was a little too late on those.
  3. I think it's disingenuous to assume that people who mention the cost of the set as a negative factor are all "12 year-olds" who deserve blocking. IMO the price of a set is a legitimate concern for most people, adults and children included. AFOL or not, $300 for a building toy is no small matter. Perhaps you are very rich and this is no big deal to you personally, but I daresay the price of things are a big deal for most people, especially these days where economic times are more challenging for everyone in general. I think most of the people in this discussion are simply pointing out that UCS is geared towards collectors and represents a "luxe" line with a higher price. And for that higher price, they expect certain things. I'm inclined to agree myself to a certain extent, but some people are ok with making the set playable regardless if it sacrifices some details. I think that is more of the discussion at the moment.
  4. I love the playability, but it does seem that UCS is meant for collectors, if only because of the very high MSRP.
  5. I jumped the gun on an X-Wing from Amazon this morning as I saw they were running low on stock (and re-stocks tend to be so intermittent/random with Lego there)...but I'm still planning to get $75 worth of stuff from the May 4th sale. If the 15% off discount holds for the US sale, then the X-Wing would have still been cheaper at Amazon anyways. So now I'm thinking of 3 or 4 of the smaller sets (like maybe V-Wing, Vulture Droid, and Grievous Bike), or maybe one large set like a Falcon, Gunship, or Malevolence from S@H. Depends if they are on sale and such...
  6. I wonder why they bother blind bagging when everyone feels them out first?
  7. It's quite an improvement over the older set, but unfortunately, I can't get past that price! Ah well, I'm sure the adults that can afford it will enjoy it...
  8. I think it is, although I don't normally buy with the intent on selling later. I'm not a big OR fan, but I like minifigs in general, so any and all are welcome additions to the collection.
  9. Hm, if that's the deal, I'm not too sure what to get. Amazon is still cheaper for me for most of the stuff I'd be interested in that's over $75. I'm thinking either the Malevolence, which I don't have, or maybe get a regular x-wing and a smaller set, or maybe just a few small sets that total over $75. Any suggestions? Anyone who got Malevolence can vouch for the set? :)
  10. This is pretty cool. So this is the early VIP set next month then?
  11. Great review! I definitely need to grab this set before it retires!
  12. Yeah, I'm looking to get HH too. Already got a PS. As for Amazon, stuff goes in and out of stock there all the time, so I wouldn't put any weight on that as an indicator of retirement.
  13. I definitely want that tracked vehicle and the bike/infearno set.
  14. Cool. If it's not too much, I'd like a new MTT.
  15. Nicely done!
  16. I think the 1 year limit is reasonable for something that Lego is going to spend their own money making. It's always risky to put money into something that takes a long time getting support for.
  17. We got them a wide variety of sets, from multiple themes. PAB included. They really don't have an excuse lol. My son is 9 and daughter 8. My son in particular has no problems building crazy things with the technic and other specialty pieces, they both just get lazy sometimes. That and they enjoy destroying stuff after they make it, as I suppose kids are wont to do...
  18. So is this the thread where I admit to being Lord Business from The Lego Movie? I don't Kragle, but I've had to basically separate "my Lego" from my kids'. Now to be clear, I've given my children many sets for them to do with as they please and every single one of them they've completely disassembled. I really don't have any issue with this in and of itself, except they do not do any kind of organization or maintenance of the pieces afterwards--they just keep all the Lego bricks completely mixed up in their bins and boxes making building new things more of a chore than I think even they can tolerate. So what do they do? They look at all of dad's still-assembled, and organized collection and want to play with them because, well, they are too disorganized or lazy to build/re-build the stuff they already have. They were taking sets I bought for myself without asking and then those sets would just disappear into their mixed up bin so I had to ban them lol. Maybe when they learn to organize their Lego and actually take the time to do it, I can reverse the ban haha. For now, they are just building new things with what they have. I think they do get a little frustrated now and then because of the difficulty in finding the right parts, but they still enjoy building and playing and ultimately that's what counts. Maybe the ban is for their own good! Funny topic this is...
  19. I am waiting for May the 4th (well April 28th I guess?).
  20. I'm pretty sure the name had to change because CUUSOO is not a wholly-owned Lego IP and is not exclusive to Lego-centric designs only. Now that Lego is taking full ownership of the program, it made sense to downplay the partnership and rename it something that is more obviously "Lego".
  21. Agreed. As far as the popular themes getting the votes, I think it's ok in that it already happens today with Lego in general. I mean, there are themes that are popular and sell well that I don't care for personally (looks at Chima/Ninjago )...
  22. Great work! Interesting that you chose not to use studs between floors to secure the different levels...
