  1. BrickFair NJ 2016 is on Oct 29th & Oct 30th, 2016 At the Garden State Expo Center in Somerset, NJ I'll be taking the three big MOCs from BrickFair VA last August and adding a few more... AC
  2. It is done as far as the ship is concerned and all that remains is to complete the initial scene with the Greek warriors on the deck. AC

    Greek Warship

Thanks and it had to be in a smaller scale as it's intended to be in a diorama that will be on display at the BrickFair NJ on the last weekend of October. AC
  4. Inspired by the movie 300: Rise Of An Empire naval battle between the Greeks and Persians, here's a minifig scale version of the warship where Greek general Themistocles leads his men out to the Aegean Sea. Though historically inaccurate and my first scratch-built ship/watercraft, this build/creation/MOC embodies most of the features of the Greek warships. The most challenging aspect of the build is the general shaping/sculpting from bow to stern that required the use of arches, slopes and modified plates to get a smooth, flowing design. It will fit twelve oarsmen and easily twenty four Greek warriors ready for any battle. Unfortunately very parts intensive at around 500 pieces with some that are hard-to-find, it's very unlikely that more copies of it will be made as originally planned. Will be working on a diorama for it that will be brought to the BrickFair New Jersey event.
  5. Just posted about it. AC
  6. Still a work in progress; AC
  7. To show the versatility and capability of this freighter, a different cargo/payload was added since September wasn't done yet! AC
  8. Thanks! And the pic below shows where I intend to use it. AC
  9. Can anybody share a one to one scan of the black cloth sail (http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItemPic.asp?P=sailbb53) from the Black Pearl? Thanks, AC
  10. Those are my faves and have always built my entries that way for the past three years! You got it! AC
  11. The Kargador ACP60 is a cargo freighter that's like a warship with a front and aft section. This cargo freighter has been designed specifically to have the front and aft sections to be detached to accommodate the cargo/payload between them. Upon reaching the designated destination, the cargo/payload can be detached from the two ends of the freighter. The front and aft ends of the SHIP will then attach together and return for more cargo/payload to deliver. One hundred twenty eight studs or forty inches long and probably just between five hundred and one thousand bricks. Like the previous SHIPtember entries, Kargador ACP60 will make its first public appearance at BrickFair New Jersey on the last week of October. Unlike the previous two entries that were deconstructed right after BrickFair NJ for the past two years, this cargo freighter will remain built to go to more shows/events in the future.
  12. Nah, I'll let somebody else do that. AC
  13. If you do, please let me know when as I'm just ten minutes drive from the library and can meet you up there. AC
  14. Been told that these MOCs need to get out more and just taking advantage of the opportunity. Just by the number of onlookers during the set up and their facial expressions was already unbelievable. Btw since I don't compete in the NYC races anymore, I just run for the fun of it. Will you be doing the NYC marathon this year? These display cases are under lock and key with the community director assuring me that they're as secure as can be since there are only two people who have access to the keys. Thanks a lot and I still enjoy building MOCs though now they get to go out more! It's a totally different experience/perspective when people let you know how much they appreciate them. Just talking to one elderly patron after the set up telling me that "You've gained one adoring fan and that's the truth!" and what more could I say but "Thanks A Lot!". AC PS. After just a day when I came back to put the MOC cards, the library staff were telling me how much people especially the kids couldn't resist going around and around looking at the MOCs. Also witnessed it first hand while I just sat near the display cases pretending to read a magazine while kids were gawking and stood in awe.
  15. 16. Found after building these that others have tried it but with way bigger size. This is more similar to the actual size of the wooden toys. AC
  17. Yes you can definitely use many different ships as I've mentioned with the same concept. But I'd let others try that... AC
