I enjoyed seeing all the contest entries while I was working on my own winter village because they inspired me. Nieks - 2 points Kost u grlu - 2 points Dix - 1 point

I store my technic parts the same way I store my system parts. I'm the crazy guy who sorts by individual part and color. When I have only a few elements of different colors I put them together in the same bag. The only problem with my current storage system is space and therefore I have all of my technic in one big bin but sorted by piece and color in plastic baggies rather than how I have my system stuff which takes up the majority of my LEGO room because of their storage bins.

The roads are actually brick built roads. I use tile for the sidewalks and in my display I have over 2000 2x2 Dark Bley tiles. I have enough LED's to light the tree but the tree was originally going to be part of my Winter Village entry and the contest rules limited the materials to only Lego.

Here is my Christmas city as seen at the 9th Annual NILTC Lego Train Show at Cantigny. I was going to use elements of my Christmas city to create an entry for the winter village contest but I just plain ran out of time. I am looking to expand my winter village section for next year so please leave ideas for improvement! As always, comments, questions and criticism always welcome. Overview of the Winter Village section Come visit Santa, roast a marshmellow, or join the snowball fight between the Stormtroopers and Snowtroopers but look out for the Grinch on the roof as he is looking to ruin Christmas. See the grand Christmas tree and giant presents and visit with Charlie Brown and Lucy and see Snoopy's award-winning dog house. Although it is almost Christmas citizens still need to work. Catch the train at the station. Alternate view of the Winter Village. Make sure to rent some ice skates but don't fall in like that unlucky Stormtrooper. A full gallery of my entire city can be found here: Brickshelf Also more pictures I took of the NILTC display can be found here: NILTC Display Pictures Also, to answer a question right away, the lights I used are 15 bulb battery-operated LED lights that I bought from Walgreens. They were on an end cap in the store and sold for $4. The switch offered always on and blinking. I was very impressed with them as they lasted the entire show on their original batteries from Friday at setup (around 4ish) through Sunday at close (around 4ish) without ever being turned off at night so roughly 48 straight.

I just got home from setting up a little bit ago. Here is a pic of my winter village. Come see it and the rest of the amazing layout in real life!

As others have said, Saturday night is a lot of fun. The key is making it down to the floor on time on Sunday. For me, that didn't happen until around 11:00am last year. I'm looking to do better in 2011.

I knew that question would come up. I haven't made a version that I am happy with. I hope I can come up with one by the weekend for the show. I want to keep him minifig sized if possible so it is presenting a little challenge. I'm working on it though.

Yes, it is a brown version of the one the ringleader has from series two collectible minifigs. I added bonus pictures to the top. Lucy's Psychiatric Booth and Snoopy's award winning doghouse as well as pictures from the cartoon as reference.
-
I am planning on adding more. This is just a teaser. I am working on a complete winter village with all sorts of Christmas fun for the NILTC Christmas Show this weekend.

My interpretation of Charlie Brown's iconic tree. Let me know what you think. EDIT: Added more because I just couldn't leave you with just the tree Lucy's Psychiatric Booth Snoopy's Award Winning Doghouse All together Reference Pics Brickshelf Folder when Pubic

I've been trying to keep myself up to date on the arguments but has anyone argued that maybe Lego could just discontinue Star Wars and other licensed magnet sets and only sell their own magnets unglued? This seems to be win win for Lego and Hasbro. Lego can still produce Star Wars minifigs and sell them in sets and battle packs. Their own sets can have magnets, have them unglued and keep most people happy.

I agree that it is misleading but the BOGO50 is nice for part packs like Creator sets. I haven't paid full price for a Creator set in almost a year. Another good thing about Creator sets is they are almost always MSRP. I take what they give. You just have to read the fine print and see if it is worth going to the store or online to buy stuff.

Brickworld 2010 by Adam Reed Tucker Also, it worked. I can't find the video but I know someone has it.

I would say a big Bricklink store could probably profit off buying this lot. Selling the figs could probably net them a decent amount. Although I do agree $20,000 up front is hard to stomach.
-
I probably should have taken a better pic of that. The gray thing is a loading dock. But I agree, I could work on making that look better. I couldn't find my Lego truck to back up into it.

I have spent the last two weeks sorting and organizing my Lego room so I treated myself to a build this weekend. Without further ado I present my renovated downtown factory. As always comments, questions and criticism are welcome. I can already tell you off the bat that I personally do not like the gray arches and I am going to change them but I didn't feel like taking the whole thing apart so soon. Thanks for looking. If you want to go to the city, the Chicago store is fun to go to. It is usually busy and has an ok selection The Orland Park store is usually not busy and has a good amount in stock. The Northbrook store has a big PaB wall and a good selection. The Schaumburg store has a great PaB wall with really friendly staff who will be willing to go in the back and find specific parts for you if they are not on the wall. I have been to all of the stores and my personal ranking is Schaumburg, Northbrook, Orland Park, and finally Chicago

Toys R Us provided me an excuse to go shopping so I picked up two of the new passenger trains and I was also rewarded by being lucky enough to pick up a new box of the collectible minifigs.
-
The 40% off is for in store only. I picked up Woody's Round up for $29.99 since it was at MSRP $49.99.

You might have missed this but I picked up one from Toys R Us last week and did a review. 2010 City Advent Calendar

I have also purchased a few pounds from ebuyazonline and I was wondering the same thing. For me it was a good source of darker plates and tile but within all of the good was a bunch of what I considered crap. You take the good with the bad but if anyone knows how he does it I would love to hear it. I just hope that it isn't LEGO branded clone bricks because that would be upsetting. If he is buying used from other places then he must clean the bricks really well because most don't look used at all. I have ordered twice and my orders were for 10 lbs each which was a decent amount of brick.

I built this a little bit ago and it worked for me. Some people think it looked a little big but I was happy with it. Here is a link to my post: MOC: Grocery Store

I was on the hunt for Series 2 Minifigs but they weren't in my store yet. Walked into the Lego section of Toys R Us and on the top shelf was a brown box of Advent Calendars that was already open. I don't know if there were supposed to sell it or not but it's at my house now.

Christmas has come early to Eurobricks. Hopefully the weather doesn't. Without further ado, I bring to you the 2010 City Advent Calendar Name: 2824 City Advent Calendar Theme: LEGO System / City / Seasonal Year: 2010 Number of Pieces: 271 Figures: 6 List Price: $34.99 USD Resources: Brickset, BrickLink Front of Box: Back of Box: Inside of Box: Day 1 - Snowman: Day 2 - Boy with Sword: Day 3 - Skateboard and Ramp: Day 4 - Toy Crane: Day 5 - Drum Set: Day 6 - Girl with Cat: Day 7 - Piano: Day 8 - Dog with Dish and Treats: Day 9 - Toy Airplane: Day 10 - Man with Briefcase: Day 11 - Fireplace: Day 12 - Firewood, Sleigh and Axe: Day 13 - Toy Firetruck: Day 14 - Woman with Baguette: Day 15 - Table with Lamp: Day 16 - Couch: Day 17 - Shower: Day 18 - Naked Santa: Day 19 - Red Wagon: Day 20 - Toy Bulldozer: Day 21 - Yellow Wagon: Day 22 - Toy Helicopter: Day 23 - Christmas Tree: Day 24 - Santa's Train Engine: 37 Extra Pieces: All of the builds together: The Rating System Figures: 8/10 They are nice but nothing too special Parts: 7/10 All little pieces but useful little pieces Fun Factor: 9/10 If actually used as an advent calendar it would be a lot of fun. I had fun guessing what was behind every door Design: 9/10 Overall good design work for such little creations Price: 7/10 It could be a little less Grand Total 40/50 Conclusion: If I were a kid again and my parents bought me this and required me to open only one set a day I would probably go mad but at the same time it would be rewarding. I liked the progression of the builds and that the last two were the tree and Santa's engine. I hope it was as nice for you as it was for me to get the Christmas feeling in the middle of August. This is my first review and I am not technically in the Reviewer's Academy so any comments, critiques and criticism is welcome. Thanks for looking.
