  1. I'm on board with this one. Especially since a have a decent amount of chicken legs.
  2. For those of you lucky enough to read this before Toys R Us closes head on over and pick up this set for $59.99. It is sold out online but the store by me did a price match.

    WIP: My Town

The large ball is a water tower. I still need to build a pump house next to it. More residents are coming. I just didn't want them to get injured in the construction. As for the open area by the tracks, I still haven't decided what is going to go there. It sure is. The bottom part of the building is the Ace Hardware store. The top is just a generic office building. None of the MOCs have interals just yet. I want to get all of my building constructed before I start working on the internals. I don't want to start ripping apart internals of buildings so I can finish construction on my other buildings.

    WIP: My Town

I was able to get some building in today and had time to take some pictures. As always, comments, criticism, questions are welcome. Enjoy!
  5. The topic is perfect timing. I just completed my level crossing yesterday. Here are some pics. One regret is that I didn't have enough black disks. Just imagine the grey ones as black and that is how it should look in about a week. EDIT: I didn't notice this was an old topic but these should go here anyways.
  6. Bah, someone beat me too it. Is that supposed to be a cell tower on the top of the building? If so, I was one story away from posting mine. Oh well, nice looking building. Personally, I am not a fan of yellow but you made it look nice.
  7. Personally, I have gone with SNOT black roads with light gray tiled sidewalks. I like the way that it looks in my layout. It is a little bit shiny but I like the contrast of the black road with the other colors around. For me black roads make the road markings and lines stand out more. Also, I was blessed with a lot of "free" black 1x4 bricks (filled up 8 holiday pick-a-brick boxes)
  8. Thanks for the advice. I think I'll make it one stud shorter If you have ever been to CostCo then you know this is par for the course based on the size of their shopping carts.
  9. Thanks for the advice but sadly I like my creations to look as real as possible while still being make of bricks. I used a number of transparent stickers on other parts of the model but I could not come up with a good way to make the gas pumps look real in just brick so I took the easy way out with stickers.
  10. Since Bob the Construction Man's supermarket went out of business I figured I'd step up and build a new one. This is just a small work in progress to test the waters while I am waiting on a few Bricklink orders. Don't expect a full store for a month or so. I did want to see how my shopping cart design would look like in real life. As always, comments, questions, criticism always welcome.
  11. Actually I was thinking about it, that and adding an ice machine on the outside of the shop. Gas stations always have that. I will probably add little things here and there once I add it as part of my city layout.
  12. Here is my finished product. This is my first time trying to photograph my Lego MOC. My setup is in a dark basement so natural light is pretty much out of the picture so any pointers and tips about how to light, set a background, etc please let me know. Thanks. The sign, driveway cover and pumps are all connected to the base via Technic. The food mart is on a baseplate and just slides up to the front sidewalk which is attached to the base. I hope you enjoy. As always comments, questions, criticism welcome. Here is the link to my Brickshelf folder when it is public Shell Gas Station
  13. Here are some teaser pics from my build this weekend. I am about 98% done but am waiting on a crucial Bricklink order which should come on Tuesday so I can finish this off. This is a sneak peak at the inside of my food mart. This is what my new pumps look like with stickers. The black part of the sticker, where there is a picture of a pump handle, is where the real Lego pump handle will be going. Behind the sticker is a headlight brick which will house the handle when it is not being used. The pump handles and a few accessories are what I am waiting on. Stay tuned.

    City 2010

I believe it is a MOC created by ACCURATEin You can see his city thread at Extremely random photos from Lego City!, From modified Fire Brigades to AT-STs!
  15. Well Stash, since you were the one that convinced me to go to Brickworld I figure I should join in your games. Here is my guy.
  16. Everything will remain as is in my town except for the Grand Emporium. That will be getting an addition next door once I get the money. Because let's face it, it's good but I don't see it as Grand until it covers a whole city block (picture the old Marshall Fields in Chicago)
  17. I would like to take credit for the car but that came as part of the 7898 Cargo Train Deluxe set
  18. Yeah, they are on the way. I am waiting on a few Bricklink orders.
  19. I hope the color combination gives it away even without stickers. First off, this is a work in progress but I figured I have completed enough to show a few pictures and get some comments, advice, criticism. Let me know what you think and I'll post more pics of my progress when I achieve any. Stickers and a food mart are coming soon. EDIT: Updated pictures start at Post 10.
  20. I do plan to expand the layout when I actually have more table room. I am currently limited to two tables and the amount of 1x2 dark gray bricks I can get. There is a station in the setup but it isn't really standard. If you look at the far left in the pictures you can see the train coming out of a building. That is the station. Here is an individual picture. I am still designing this station. I am not happy with the front glass but it works for now. The building design is loosely based off Chicago CTA stops.
  21. Here is an update with my elevated rail. I am actually liking the way the underpart looks as the town grows around it. I also added gates to the top to make it look a little nicer (thank you pick a brick wall). I would also like to point out that I am using a modified version of the 7897 Passenger Train. My version does not have the front nose. Let me know what you think. Questions, comments, criticism welcome. Thanks.
  22. I am going to do this once I get a little extra money but I am going to redesign the addition. I have a feeling a lot of people are going to do this as well. That is probably why they only give you one escalator at first. Lego and their trickery lol.
  23. Just registered! Can't wait. Gotta get building. Edit: I was too happy that I was registered so I built the space themed object that will be flying over my town. I did some digging through my instruction books and found the 6544 set.
  24. I talked mostly with Stash. I had a few questions about creating an elevated train (you can see the thread "Making Curved Track Look Better") and he told me to come out to the show since I live in Naperville. I guess I was at the show at the wrong time to see your train running. I did see the longer version of the 7897 Passenger Train as well as the Star Wars train on Sunday but I couldn't tell you what I saw on Saturday. Stash did point out you as well as the other guys in your club that had Eurobrick names. I had a great time. I was very impressed with everything. As I told Stash, I have just come out of my dark ages so hopefully I'll be running into you guys more often.
  25. Bought the Grand Emporium this morning and have just finished it. I love how it looks in my town. Also, as Follows Closely said, you do get to use the March offer of a free small PAB cup.
