I'm 36, and most of my family and friends know what I do with Lego. and surprisingly enough, most of them like it and some are even fascinated by the things I build. But the fact that I design my own models and make detailed building instructions really helps here.

Some of my old 16z gears broke in a big and heavy RC car I was building some time ago, but there were some extreme forces involved in that model. I didn't break a new one yet, bot then I didn't test them thouroghly yet.

I made some small RC-vehicules, and they come with full building instructions. Main goal with these models was to make them as small as possible as fun to drive around. Pictures are clickable.

I've tried that (multiple times), it doesn't work.

I used a similar method when I started making instructions, but it took much mure time compared to using LPub to it's full capabilities. Indeed, you can't make it look like your wonderfull instructions, but the result is clear and everything is well visible. My latest instructions were 254 pages, so if there's a limit it above 250. The feature I miss most in LPub is the ability to jump to any page you want. Now, if you want to go from page 1 to 100, you have to skip 99 pages, where every page needs to be rendered.

I make my instructions almost completely with MLCad & LPub. I make the cover and an incidental picture with photoshop-like software, where I use images generated by POV-ray and LDView. The are are quite some "hidden" features in LPub. Right-clicking often gives pop0up menus with additional functions. I work with submodels and buffer-exchange in MLCad a lot and this enables me to make almost everything I want.

They're not new. I don't know what set they're from, but I have 2 of these white panels in my parts collection, and the set isn't available in my country yet. It looks like I'll have to wait another 2 more months before I'll be able to get the set ...

The motion range of the backhoe isn't as great as with the real machine, due to a single LA with only an M-motor. I'd love to test the new L-motors in this one. It's not possible to lift the model with the backhoe, the model is way too heavy (way over 2 kg). But because it has enough gear reduction, the M-motor can completely lift the backhoe, even when it's fully stretched. The performance of the Zorex-boom is quite a bit better, but this is the best I could do in this design, which is much more complex than the excavator.

Does anybody know exactly how big the L-motor is ? Is it 3x3x6 like the M-motor or is it bigger ? I was hoping to use these L-motors in my Zorex excavator, but if they're bigger than 3x3, they will not fit...

I think has the type of remote you mean. As far as I know of, the original desing comes from someone called Jason Railton. I just tweaked his design.

After many requests for instructions for the PF Backhoe loader I built 1,5 year ago, I decided to rebuild the model, improve it and make building instructions. It has been my most complex Lego-project so far. Technically, it’s very similar to the first version. That means there are 8 motors for 9 functions: Driving & steering Outriggers Frontloader & bucket Backhoe, dipper & bucket Backhoe rotation Technical differences with the first version are: Front bucket now has the big LA’s instead of the mini LA’s Dipper is 1 stud shorter More compact design Speed controll for driving Other improvents are esthetical: It now has a seat and steering wheel inside Panels in the front section Fenders for the front wheels Rear-fenders with round curve Roof with curved sides I’m very happy with the end-result. The new version looks nicer and all the functions work properly. Instructions The main goal of this model was to make building instructions. Yes, it makes the dipper heavier, but not too heavy for the XL-motor lifting the arm. Everything works smoothly. The main reason that the motor is in that section is to prevent the drivetrain for the bucket to go through the rotation point of the dipper. This way the dipper has more freedom of movement in & out.
