Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread
Roebuck replied to BrickJagger's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Yes, but now it is all about the right moment with the right set and in the meantime enjoy the hype The CMF sell so many sets so it is worth it and the theme have a very high budget they can use for new moulds (I wonder how much the sales will drop with the new boxes).. If the goat did not exist and the hype and demand for a re-release was not a issue, I think it would have been made for a new farm sub-theme in City or a CMF. We got the farm animals in the following order: Horse Foal Cow Pig Hen Sheep Calf, Piglet, Lamb (sheep wool) The most likely next farm animal? Goat, roaster, chickens, duck, geese, donkey? -

The only set I can think of where the budget (if it is there) for a new mould the goat would be on the number 1 spot is the medieval village set. -
I wonder who the designers are, Pierre Normandin seem to be the design lead of the theme, but that do not mean he had "anything" to do with the actual design.. I am sure the set will sell a lot of copies, but those of you that have issues after buying and building the set could give feedback to Lego so the next set do not make the same mistakes https://survey.medallia.com/legoproduct

Lego Icons 10332 Medieval Town Square Discussion Thread

It was so interesting to listen to the podcast so I recommend that as well. I have started listen to the other episodes this season as well (previous seasons are about Lego games so not so interesting to me).. It it a legit argument why e.g. the Ideas blacksmith set do not have the goat, but not why a City farm set do not. If they want they can make a small goatherder set similar to the seal battle-pack and it would sell like crazy! I agree, all this goat hype is not bad for them and when we get a set with it in there will be a lot of free advertising because of the goat. I do not think they will miss this opportunity by making it in a CMF or small City set, the medieval village set makes most sense now. There is is even a goat prototype in the set, we just need to get the set released and Bob's your uncle With the Pirate set this year and not a single whisper of the set I think our best hope is next year I and a lot of other people I am sure replied that we wanted civilians and animals etc in the 90th year castle set, it was a reason why the first prototype had a complete village in front of the castle. When that was to big I assume (hope) they started developing that as a separate set, if so it could be finished by now.. -
Hi and welcome I am sure Lego appreciate constructive criticism an listen to it so the next retro set will probably look less like the original set. Have you seen a pic of the medieval marked village we hopefully get one day? One of the buildings there is inspired by the guarded inn set, but the rest of the set is new and the set is made to compliment the old MMV so that look very promising However until we see reviews and/or designer interviews we can not know all the functions and the thought processes that lead to make the set this way Yes and bring back the white falcon knight as well I wonder if Lego included a maybe slightly updated part, but very similar to the old mould in this set and they could only include one what would you choose: Classic chrome gold coins Classic monkey Classic palm tree trunks

Yes, I am sure there is some explanations in the instructions, some people here give Lego designers to little credit, I am sure there is a reason why they included the figs they did just wait and see, reviews should pop up within a few days I like the new print, but it is very similar to the other one and it is clearly the same character so would have preferred they reused it and used the budget for a civilian instead instead (of course that means adding a extra fig) I wonder if a future Saber island GWP will be made to fit this set

No need to worry I am pretty sure I saw a green one in the dungeons, they have apparently stopped use them as selling points since it is not mentioned in the text (a future selling point could be this set do NOT have have any frogs)
-
About the lore or lack of it it is still possible it is explained in the instructions, we will see soon I guess

I think that was because of COVID, but the B-bay was sold out more or less a half year before it retired It is nice to see the set in its full glory for the first time and not a bad picture taken with a potato-camera I guess a lot of LAN influencers have gotten the set and kept it secret as they should, the focus group was apparently not under NDA (even if I find that strange) and we do not know it we get any sets from that survey. I hope we do at least the amazing medieval village, but could have just been sketch models they do not plan to release anyway Captain Redbeard is one of the all time best Lego minifigs however he is very distinct and in the first original waves he was almost like Harry Potter and showed up in most sets. While great it is not a very good army-builder since you only need one, the bluecoats was much better in that regard with normal soldiers or lower officers added in smaller sets so happy they did not include him in the set I do not see much of a problem since they never choose any of them anyway. I guess the creators miss out on some money when it hit 10 000 but the BL program do not take any sets directly from Ideas anymore (I have no interest in the BL sets so do not follow it closely)?

My hope and guess is that it will return in the medieval village set maybe next year

I doubt it , normally Ideas set has very low budget so they "steal" where they can. B-bay had a pig several months before the HP set that used the budget to bring it back showed up. City on the other hand has a very high design budget, but they cost a lot as well Over to this weeks goat news https://www.brickfanatics.com/lego-designers-conspiracy-long-lost-lego-goat

In addition to new animals I want a Castle and Pirate set every 3 years (to be generous add Space in the mix) and maybe 2 GWP from the themes every year, and what do Lego do they deliver! Now 3 years after the fantastic B-bay set we get this a recreation of one of my all time favourite sets with my favourite fraction the bluecoats (always liked those best even more than the pirates) I will of course buy this set and I am sure I will love to build and display it however I have some early comments just looking at the pictures with some pros and cons. The minifigures are great, the new hat/hair piece is perfect and we get 2 different. I like that none of the pirates are Captain Redbeard. There are 8 of them like the original, but 2 more civilians for the boat would have been even better. It is very similar to the original, that is both good and not so good so I might display it as the alternative model that looks excellent. If I can choose I probably prefer in the future something like B-bay or the 90th year castle way of doing it, that take inspiration from the classic themes and make something new, but do not make a modern copy like this and forestmen GWP. They have added a cannon, 2 palm trees and animals the original did not have so that is nice. The crane looks very big, but that could be more realistic or it has some nice functions maybe The boat is nice to get in this set, maybe it looks a little odd, but the original did as well so they are similar. Both this and the forestmen GWP (and three in the castle) has black parts where they normally should have been brown because the originals had it, I am sure Lego have tried with brown parts instead and preferred black, but will be interesting to see them swapped out at least with brown.. I like the stone path. Not so sure about the doors especially the top one probably liked the original part better.. I knew we would not get the chrome gold coins back, but would have been great and the palm tree trunk as well The most important is that Pirates and especially bluecoats are back

Yes, but those sets where developed together at the same time so if we get a medieval village later this year that would be true, but a CMF next year I do not think would work I hope not Chima knights -
I agree and believe the prelim picture of the set had that as well, but apparently a chicken/hen cost almost as much as a horse on the budget to include However there seem to be a evolution going on with more budget spent on those sets, so I guess if we got that set next year alt least a rooster mould would be included. 2021: 60300: Wildlife Rescue ATV (74 parts and 3 animals, 2 new small monkeys that come in almost every set in the wave and one small unprinted scorpion. "Zero" from the budget used on animals in the set) 2022: 60344: Chicken Henhouse (101 parts and 2 animals, 2 small hens in a new color that do not come in any other set in the wave. New color of the part needed to use from the budget) 2023: 60394: ATV and Otter Habitat (90 parts and 4 animals. 2 small otters in a new color and with a print for the first time that only came in that set in the wave, in addition one frog and a fish unprinted. New color and print was used from the budget) 2023: 60376: Arctic Explorer Snowmobile (70 parts and 3 animals. 2 new moulds for seals, one small and one medium plus an unprited fish. 2 new moulds means a lot of the budget was used on the set It is difficult to compare small with big D2C sets, but maybe it is the best set we have gotten so far this year I would say

I think the trading post is to big for the number of parts this has according to rumors, the Eldorado fortress is possible to do, but have me worried about the low number I must say. If we get a Pirate set every 3 years maybe next time will be another ship

The corn piece smell of goat, something wrong with that I think. The crazy PAB price, even sold out with that and did not return. The sets had only half a year on shelf's, with such a great part it should normally be in several sets this year, but it is gone it seems
