  1. This latest challenge has forced me to break into my Superhero sets for detail work, so the modulars aren't far behind! After all, I'm going for the win here! XD
  2. Classic! Great lighting, it really brings the scene to life. Keep up with the interiors, I'm loving them!
  3. I am loving this, BeerBeard! I couldn't wait to see the official post after your WIP shots, and it definitely lived up to the hype. So, was the marriage for territory, or the dowry?
  4. Thanks, K! This story will tie into my 3rd Challenge entry, so stay tuned! Many thanks, Z! I've been working on a few things to keep up with you guys, glad to see my first venture was successful! I've been teetering on the edge with my recent builds, trying not to break into my non-GoH builds or the Kingdom's Joust I bought myself as a X-Mas present...but every challenge it gets harder and harder not to. I agree. I felt very intimidated at first, knowing I wanted to challenge myself. Not only is this guild (and every one) founded by a Master Builder, but when the first challenge started and all these great creations started showing up, I knew I had to amp up my game. Getting recognition from said people and the rest of the community has spurred me on to continue doing one of the things I love, and to try to contribute my very best amongst esteemed colleagues. Again, many thanks. I've found myself back in love with strange architecture, and I'm trying to feature that in my builds. If I can't have the coolest, or the biggest, or the most detailed build, I can definitely do the quirkiest!
  5. I, for one, would LOVE to see you, or anyone, pull something like that off! Totally the heart of the Mystic Isles! And, just a general announcement, but I am working on another update to the official map. This one is a major overhaul though, and will hopefully show everyone's specific territories. I've been trying to sift through the thread to find everyone's border claims, but if anyone would rather PM me to make sure, that would be much appreciated.
  6. Thanks, BeerBeard! Coming from you, that means a lot! I've been experimenting with styles/shapes of buildings we haven't seen in LEGO form before. A lot of Center City Philadelphia (a.k.a. home) has some well hidden European-styled architecture, and I draw a lot of inspiration from walking around and finding little gems here and there. The idea of rounded walls with dormer windows and slanted rooves was the inspiration for this one. Thanks, deGothia! Benoic is a dear neighbor to Darwynia, but I'm sure Vikdar already has some business partners there. So, watch out! Thanks for mentioning my favorite details! I really like how the whips as a corner detail worked. I may use a mod of it again soon. I wanted to really convey hand-crafted woodwork, someone who took a lot of pride in it. As far as the back, I did have an idea for a scene but I felt it might be a bit overkill for this build, so I dropped it at the last minute. But yes, you got it. Vikdar's private quarters are positioned near the back, so most of the "unsavory" dealings commence there. Hence, no windows. Aw, shucks! That's very kind, Kayne. I've been brickin' for a while, but haven't really hit my stride 'til recently. When I saw GoH I knew I'd have a great excuse to hunker down and produce some good builds. I'm glad you like them, and thanks for the support! There is definitely more to come, and don't forget: I'm working on the Royal Opera House for Albion as well!
  7. Stay away from the brown...'shrooms? XD Another hare-brained idea from BeerBeard, which I love! Your creations always have a sense of quirk and character that make them undeniably yours. Please don't leave Avalonia! We are as mighty as we are because of having builders like you in our ranks. Remember, Anytria and Darwynia are not too far from each other... The Log Baron could always use more allies in keeping the seedy side businesses of Avalonia alive!
  8. Great work, K.K.! As always, your stonework shines in the gatehouse wall and the rocks of the Forgotten Falls. What's this "massive MOC" that soccerkid6 mentioned? I guess I missed you mention it, but I'd look forward to it too!
  9. I keep loving your story more and more, SoT! Not only does the story get better as we get further in, but the MOCs are really sparkling with life and minute details. That rolled out map on table? EPIC! I still can't figure what the heck that part is that holds the crystal on the top of Kaloyan's staff! Also really appreciating the glimpse into the Jarl's back story. His chambers really ring true to the Guildmaster of Mitgardia, and a legendary hunter. Can't wait for more!
  10. So excited for the new challenge! In the meantime, I've just posted a new freebuild in Darwynia, over here.
  11. The Log Baron One of the most notorious people in Darwynia is Vikdar Brommel, commonly known as the Log Baron. He is the owner and founder of Brommel's Log & Lumber, a large-scale exporter and supplier to all of Historica. Personally worth millions of darics, his influence also extends into other various dealings: Loan Sharking, Smuggling, Information Networking, and referring clients to specialists with only the best reputations. His garishly decorated private residence lies in the outskirts between Darwynia and Albion. Brommel greets Sharra Foxpaw, a legendary hunter, and her elven lover and partner, Dornir Threeleaves. There have been several recents attempts on Brommel's life, and so he has summoned the adventurers to his home to hire them to investigate. Formerly from Mitgardia, where he trained as woodworking apprentice, Vikdar left Valholl in his eighteenth year and traveled down in the lush grasslands of Avalonia. A rumored romantic, the windows and door of his home are handcrafted pieces made by Brommel himself. Closer pictures of the main characters of this MOC can be found at the Citizens of Avalonia Brichshelf folder, here when moderated.
  12. I would also like to extend a well-deserved congratulations to Rolli, and to all of Avalonia for bringing us the win for round 2. Let's raise a flagon of mead to keeping up the good work, and another victory for the Western Paradise in round 3! @Beerbeard: Your Sigfig has such personality, I don't think I noticed how awesomely quirky he looked until just now. On a side note, much rumblings have been brewing over a GOH wiki, which I wholeheartedly support, wherever it may be hosted. Thoughts/comments? I think it would seriously help the overhaul of the map Ive had brewing in my head for the past few weeks, as well as be an invaluable tool in organizing the vast and ever changing information that surrounds Historica.
  13. Loving the ground stonework and the cellar entrance! Great work, Legonardo!
  14. Nice work on cleaning/prettying up the article, Brickdoctor (also, thanks for proper credit for the picture!) And thank you to all those whom have taken the time to contribute to this great idea! I'd like to see an internal Wiki hosted on EB, but alas such a thing does not exist, so we must do what we need to do to keep this great community idea alive and thriving! I'll be adding any and all info I have on our Guild (with individual permission, of course,) once this gets the "go ahead" from the higher ups.
  15. Wow, Kayne! Excellent work! Totally loving the mummy riding the velociraptor!
  16. Lord Kelperth Darwyn of Darwynia is still a proud Avalonian! (Plus, he has some free time for travel now while Darwynia is being fleshed out. Hint hint. )
  17. Thanks, de Gothia! Though, when I saw you were doing an embassy in the same region, I knew I'd have no shot at the top! You're welcome to use the "desert tree" design. It's just a variation of a 1x1 round brown flower piece, either a lightsaber or staff bar in brown, 1x1 green bricks with leaves, and 1x1 round bricks to hold it all together. Here's hoping we take the top spot for embassies this round! Our guild certainly deserves it!
  18. Excellent work, Legonardo! I, like everyone, have noticed your clever snow design! Your embassy also conveys our guild's overall feel, but transported to another locale, which is exactly the point of this challenge. You do your guild proud!
  19. Thanks everyone for the kind comments! @Rogueang - Thanks! I tried to make a tree design that was unique, and one that would be found in the scrub between a desert and a forest. Can't take credit for the shutter design, though, that's obviously a Mod of Derfel's technique! @CptMugwash - Thanks so much! It's an honor to be complemented by a member of the Kaliphlin guild! Southern hospitality is definitely alive and well! @Kayne - Thank you, sir. To be commended by you is a very high honor!
  20. Absolutely amazing MOC! This is a true melding of the Kaliphlin and Nocturnus styles. Great job!
  21. Damn, Blackmoor, this is an EPIC build! Lord Darwyn shall surely send his troops here to be refreshed during their long journeys!
  22. Darnit, MikeyB, you always hit it on the head! It's going to be very difficult to top you and deGothia if I'll ever make it to the top 5! XD You've captured the landscape and storyline perfectly! You make your guild very proud!
  23. PHEW! Almost didn't make it! Just posted my embassy in Kaliphlin, Dar'Kalil. It can be found here.
  24. Dearest Lord Kelperth Darwyn, All is quiet upon the Southern Border as of late. Traders and Artisans have made their way through our humble halls, bringing news that is both comforting and also alarming. Some trappers from the edge of the Mystic Isles making their way to Barqa told us of a brimming uneasiness in the East, due to a Championship the Drow are hosting. Therefore, I have sent out a message to one of our closest companions in Kaliphlin, Markus Kahlan. I have invited him to Dar' Kalil to discuss the state of affairs and possible strategies. Fear not, your prize liason shall settle this matter post haste. Sincerely, -Lady Talisa Forkroot Lady Talisa Forkroot receives Markus Kahlan and his escorts. Brickshelf Gallery
  25. Yes! That Bat-henchman fig from the Monster Hunters line is just begging to be modded with a s4 Collectible Minifig Werewolf to be Man-Bat!
