  1. If anybody's interested, this image from the LEGO.com Videos page gives a good look at the Azari and Emily mini-dolls! Love these costume designs, though it's a bit of a shame the elf characters don't have the bracelets/arm bands they have in the character art and animation. EDIT: Also GEE WHIZ IS THAT A DRAGON IN THE BACKGROUND?
  2. I think people were referring to the sound effects, not the visuals. They're very traditional sci-fi laser sound effects, and I agree that they felt out of place at some points, especially as Kopaka's ice blasts. I'd expect ice blasts to make more of a clinking or scraping sound.
  3. Awesomesauce! Not as expressive as the style of the webisodes, but still pretty spectacular.
  4. I much prefer the animation quality to what I've seen of the LEGO Friends mini-episodes, so if this is going to be online videos only then the LEGO Group has really stepped up its game!
  5. TEASER SITE!! With awesome cartoon teaser video!
  6. Well, keep in mind that it's apparently much easier to get from Emily's world to Elvendale than the other way around. Otherwise Emily wouldn't need to go to such lengths to get back!
  7. Gali was one of the ones where it was most obvious to me that he was trying. He uses a distinctly lighter and higher-pitched voice (with more ups and downs in pitch) for her lines than for any of the other Toa's. Pohatu's voice also sounds WAY different than all the others.
  8. I don't know, I think that's a fairly reasonable way for him to hold it, as it reduces the risk of him cutting himself with it. I interpreted it as being used to cut downward from his hand, which is probably the safest way for him to use a saw blade that size anyway. If you wanted it to cut parallel to the hand and arm, though, it's as simple as rotating the connector that attaches it to his hand ninety degrees. I guess I just don't see it that way. To me it looks like the cutter head from a roadheader, and it never even crossed my mind that the designers might have ever meant for the set to have a mace. Seems to me like they were looking for a creative way to build a drill for the set and happened upon the mace piece.
  9. I don't see how having a circular saw or a drill that actually spins is all that gimmicky. Wouldn't you expect those kinds of tools to actually spin? At least if they're brick-built — I can see how a single-piece tool like Turaga Matau's Kau Kau Staff or Turaga Whenua's Drillstaff would not be expected to spin.
  10. The German consumer catalog has Mixels info on page 34, including pics of the new Maxes! You can also click each character for a product description!
  11. Pictures of the Legends of Chima sets for next year (including unseen ones like 70225–70227) can be seen here! Pages 82 to 85!
  12. Ah, so my memory failed me there. Oh well. Would have been a nifty shout-out if I had been remembering things right.
  13. UPDATE: The Elves sets are listed with product descriptions in this German LEGO brand catalog, with a release date of March! Story description: "Join Emily Jones in her exciting journey through the magical world of Elvendale, beginning at a mysterious door in her grandmother's garden. Emily needs help to find the way back home. In order to open the gate to that separates her from her home, Emily must find four keys - but she can only manage this with the help of her elven friends. Learn all the details about LEGO Elves on LEGO.com/elves and download the app, to witness the adventure!" Oh, and the panther cub's name is Enki, and it belongs to Farran.
  14. In the German consumer catalog, there are character names for the various sets, and probably other info too. One gem that stood out for me was that sure enough, the agent in 70166 and 70169 with sunglasses and a tan flat top is identified as "Agent Trey Swift" — possibly the same Agent Swift from the original Agents theme!
  15. And finally, the third of my BIONICLE 2015 reviews for The New Elementary is up! Check out the Protectors of Jungle, Water, and Earth right here!
  16. Try zooming out. I have trouble with that as well. Seems like it's not optimized for all screen resolutions.
  17. The only current transparent pink color is Transparent Medium Reddish Violet, which is more purplish than his classic Transparent Fluorescent Red eyes. Bricklink uses the same name ("Trans-Dark Pink") for both colors, but the difference is pretty substantial. In general, I think either Transparent Fluorescent Green or Transparent Light Blue makes a better eye color for him than a pinkish or reddish color would, since it contrasts more with his mask color.
  18. The description you get when you click on that does give us some new information, though, such as that Lord of Skull Spiders has night vision and is venomous. Speaking of Lord of Skull Spiders, something about the set occurred to me last night. A lot of people are disappointed with its size, but technically it has more pieces than an individual Nui-Jaga. Longer legs, too. In general I find myself wanting more and more to handle Lord of Skull Spiders for myself. Even though it gets such a bad rap, I am extremely impressed with the complexity of its design and its general fearsomeness. I have a feeling that if it weren't the ONLY dedicated villain set this wave, it probably wouldn't have been nearly as poorly received.
  19. I've seen some sites list March 2015, but I don't know if that's global. It might be a January release for some countries.
  20. Couldn't you make his arms symmetrical just by swapping the silver metallic shell on his arm with the dark orange one on his torso?
  21. Could be neither. It's entirely possible that the books might tell side-stories like the first four Ninjago chapter books or the Legends of Chima storybooks. In that case, they're not obligated to convey an entire story arc at all.
  22. Nuju's mask power didn't have anything to do with X-Ray vision or distance vision but his mask had a telescopic lens in his Toa Metru and Toa Hordika forms. My guess is that Kopaka's telescopic lenses still function, they just may or may not have anything to do with his mask powers/elemental powers. Likewise for Gali, we have no reason to assume she CAN'T breathe underwater. The water village is actually underwater this time, so it wouldn't be a surprise if all the water characters could breathe underwater... assuming they need to breathe at all. But even if they can't, it would make plenty of sense for Gali's elemental water powers to include water breathing.
  23. This site has product descriptions, including full character names. The elves are named Azari Firedancer, Aira Whisperwind, Naida Riverheart, Farran Leafshade, and Johnny Baker. The animals are named Miss Spry (squirrel) Delphia (dolphin), Pluma (bird), and Flamy (fox). The Treetop Hideaway isn't listed, though, so I don't know the name of the panther cub.
  24. It could potentially work, I think, though I don't think it'd work as well as his current color scheme. I've seen a Lewa MOC with that color scheme that looked all right. In any case, it's sort of a moot point because 4M shells don't exist in Bright Yellowish Green. Maybe Transparent Bright Green might work better? After all, the Tahu, Kopaka, and Gali sets use transparent colors to great effect. I just tested it and it actually looks really cool. Like the Flame Yellowish Orange shells, Transparent Bright Green ones add a lot of energy.
  25. I had some similar apprehensions about the set originally, especially with the colors being distributed much less systematically than those of the Protector of Earth or Protector of Jungle. But I was surprised to find that the set actually looks really excellent in real life. Even though the colors are distrbuted in such a peculiar way, they're still distributed fairly evenly throughout the model. The Bright Yellow makes a great accent color, and the Tr. Blue and Tr. Light Blue work a lot better together than I ever could have imagined. Now, if I were designing the set, there are definitely some things I'd have done differently. I'd probably have used black 5M "A" beams (design ID 90609) for the upper arms and upper legs, Tr. Light Blue 3M or 4M beams for the lower arms, and Silver Metallic feet. But that's not to say that this is the best thing for the set, just what I probably would have done according to my own systematic mindset. Trying it out now, I actually think I prefer the look of the official set. The colors are spread out better and feel more balanced.
