Hm. That's what I figured. That makes using Lego as an art medium a bit difficult, but Lego is just a toy company after all. Welp, guess my build(s) will just have to continue on digitally then. Thanks!

Hello, I'm not really too knowledgeable on the topic of what can and can't be ordered from Lego so I come with a simple question. Is it possible through any means to aquire parts in a color other than what they were originally sold in? Say, for example, I wanted a 3x3 Corner Plate (2450) in Warm Gold (297), but that part doesn't come in any kit in that color. Is there a way I can special order it?

Quick check: LDD or real bricks?
Brawl replied to Mataroa's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
I use LDD personally because Lego bricks are ridiculously expensive to purchase without going to a PAB wall thing. I like to make very large complicated things, and I'd be even more broke than I am now if I purchased all of the pieces I need for these projects. :( If I had the funds, I would gladly stop using LDD altogether since the real bricks are much more fun and rewarding to use. Of course, with enough 3D rendering witchcraft, anything can be real. ;) -
LDD and chromebook
Brawl replied to tomdobs55's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Chromebooks are mainly made for student and office work on the cloud. Also, remember that it's not powered by Windows, so it's missing the key components needed to run a Windows Executable File. (.EXE, what most windows games and other applications are.) These EXE files rely on DLL files (basically indexes of code stored deep within the sensitive parts of your computer, system32) to run. Without them, you just have a big complicated text file with senseless bytes of raw, unusable, uninterpretable(I'm making that a word) data. Or something to that effect. Same goes for Macs, though they use different formats. And Linux. And those other more obscure operating systems. So when considering operating systems it's best to make sure that whatever software you plan on using is available for that system. A lot of people seem to be under the impression that a computer is a computer, and the operating system is just for decoration, but there's a lot more going on. So, yeah, Chromebook would be impracticle. But, they are pretty cheap, so you might consider buying one anyway, and repairing your laptop, if it's worth fixing. -
Slope/hinge connection
Brawl replied to Dilvish's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
It would be nice if you can upload the file so we can play around with it. Creating a solution off the top of our heads isn't the best way to do things sometimes. This looks like a pretty difficult setup. I'm actually amazed that LDD lets you make such a curve... -
Next LEGOLAND Location possibly in Virginia, USA
Brawl replied to Meiko's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Hey, that's not too far away from Tennessee! Only 500 miles from where I live. Wait, actually that's about the same distance from here to Florida. >.> -
You need to type the directory of the file in directly. It will work then. Here's generally where it's located: C:\Users\somfacsonk\Documents\LEGO Creations\Models\legofile.lxf

Train Motors/Wheel Assemblies?
Brawl replied to cpw's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Just search the part number. If it's not there, then it doesn't exist in LDD. Also, it's not a very good idea to ask for help in a topic that has been dead for well over a year. The part in question is not in LDD. -
See this topic for help: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=86964 I had a similar problem and I was able to fix it using the information provided there.

It wouldn't actually be possible to build with parts you can get from Lego because of the coloration of some blocks, namely the gold detailing and the enormous amount of chrome silver plates/slopes and the blue tiers. Also it is structurally very week in some parts of the handle. I have no idea what the pricing would be and honestly I don't care to take the time to investigate. I've provided the file in the original post which you are more than welcome to use if you would like to calculate the price. It would be at least $400 Thanks for the compliments fella's! :)

LDD 5, what features do YOU want?
Brawl replied to BasOne's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Wavefront OBJ exporter. LeoCad doesn't support enough pieces to be useful for exporting models as OBJ. -
Pardon the blank space at the bottom of the image, I forgot to crop before uploading. I created this in about 14 hours over the course of about a day and a half. Specs: 3151 pieces 1.864 meters long (~1:1 scale) There are four different large sections in this model. The handle, the blade with the Triforce, the main blade, and the blade tip. Download LXF (~181KB) Enjoy. Use it as your please, just give credit if you do. EDIT: I do hope I've posted this in the correct spot. Still getting used to things around here.

Wow, this looks fantastic! I hope some other bits of the site can get such a glorious makeover over time. Outstanding job everyone.

Motorcycle and minifig
Brawl replied to Steven L's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
There was no trick. It was just rotating the appropriate parts until they lined up. Not really that hard to do, just takes a few minutes. But, if you want I will. -

I very carefully rotated the piece one by one until everything lined up. It took quite a bit of time to do. -

Here you go, it took quite a bit of careful angling. Minifig on bike.lxf -
[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD
Brawl replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
Oh, I didn't realize that he had a corrected version. I worked on the first version, before his modifications. His latest version still uses the wrong wheel and doesn't connect. My version uses the wrong color 'dash' board behind the wheel, which is something that he corrected from the previous version. I'll edit that real quick. EDIT: Oh, now I see what you're talking about. There are other discolorations as well. I'll fix those in my version. :) EDIT: There we go. Should be 99.99% accurate now. ^.^ 42005.lxf- 5,041 replies

This is a 'problem' that extends far beyond the reach of Lego and into the world of reality. Generally speaking, young girls are not attracted to action series. Genetically females are programmed to enjoy more passive entertainment, while males tend to be more aggressive. Of course, this certainly isn't always true, especially within the most recent generations. There's nothing mysterious about action shows not featuring more than a handful of female protagonists in western culture. However, if you go to the East you'll find that this is very common indeed, but usually for different reasons..

I've been playing guitar for about 6 years I guess. I don't play covers or write songs, I just play for fun. I wouldn't say I'm really that good at it because I don't do a lot of technique practice and things like that, but I'm not terrible. I also got a keyboard last Christmas and I've learned a few melodies. I also dable in FLStudio, but I'm far from talented when it comes to digital music. I mostly just do short samples or arrange songs from video games. Two of my better "pieces." They could use a lot of work though. >.<

[KEY TOPIC] Official LEGO Sets made in LDD
Brawl replied to Calabar's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
There's a few reasons that you couldn't get it to fit. First, that's the wrong steering wheel. You used 2819 when you needed 30663. That's a very easy mistake to make since the two are virtually identical. 30663 has a 1-2 stud smaller radius, so it doesn't hit the roll bar. Second there were a few slightly off axle connections, namely the one where the hood attached to the hinge like part at the front of the cab. After making the necessary adjustments it fits! It's barely legal though because the connector pegs on the sides of the hood don't fit 100% and never will. Plastic is of course quite flexible, so it makes sense that the real model fits together better than a digital one. Still, it's not the most graceful design by Lego. Here's the corrected model, do whatever you like with it. No credit needed. :) EDIT: See post below for updated download.- 5,041 replies

I have three enormous plastic boxes filled to the brim with them. I do enjoy Lego, but for me it's just another toy in the closet. I'm no Lego artist, far too expensive for me. If I could afford to have millions of pieces they would be sorted very carefully by number. I do like organizing things.

Post about Cartoons and Anime you like
Brawl replied to Peppermint_M's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I'm a pretty avid anime watcher. I mostly watch murderous sadistic stuff, or cutesy fanservicey stuff. >.> Here's what I've watched to date and my ratings for them. I rate things pretty generously. If I enjoyed it it gets a 8-10, if I was mildly entertained it gets a 7, anything less and it pretty much sucked and is just rated based on animation. EDIT: Spoiler tags because of list size. -
Good music for getting work done. Unfortunately this forum is making me less than productive.

Creating the app would be a pretty simple process for any experienced Apple/PHP developer, however getting the product onto the App store would be a problem because licensing the program costs money and I doubt Apple would except an app made specifically for a single forum. Targeting Android would be much easier and cheaper, but hardly anyone uses an android. It's all about the iPhone these days. *checks 2008 flip phone*
