  1. I built this for a local show that's coming up. My original idea was to do UC Berkeley's Campanile. But I scrapped that idea very early, since I'm really short on bricks. So here's my final version. Suggestion for improvement is very welcome.
  2. I think the biggest (in terms of volume) non-UCS set is the mobile devastator. With only 1000 pieces, it's about 70 studs long.
  3. Thank you. Due to lack of time and brick, I have to do something unorthodox. Mixing my game hobby with lego is an interesting experience.
  4. Yes, it does. I just got one a few weeks ago. I have trouble keeping it straight. I think it'll be better if the back wheels don't turn.
  5. The Ostrich Race Game Creeping into the Valley of the Slaves, Dastan has discovered Sheik Amar’s secret den. Suddenly, with the flick of a lever, a high-speed, out-of-control ostrich race begins! Avoiding barrels, eating apples as you race to the finishing line. With customizable track, no two games will ever be the same. For 2-4 players. * 1 buildable LEGO wheel * 1 rule booklet * 4 micro ostriches *** Rule Booklet*** # Setup Build the track and the wheel according to the above picture. Every player takes one tile of each color. (total of 4 tiles) # game play Every player take turn one after another. Each player's turn consist of two actions. 1. Customize the wheel You may replace one tile on the wheel with one tile in your possession. Then take the replaced tile into your possession. Example: 2. Spin the wheel Spin the wheel and move to the closest space on the track with that color. You may not move to a space occupied by other player. If another player is on the space you are moving to, you may only move as far as possible. barrels You may not move to a space with a barrel. Barrels act exactly like other players that blocks your space. apples Once you land on a space with an apple, take the apple and spin the wheel again and move accordingly. However you may not customize the wheel. Other plays that lands on the space afterward does not get the apple. Example turn: You are the red player. The wheel lands on tan, but the closest tan space is occupied by the blue player. And the next closest space has a barrel. So you move to the light gray space and take the apple. Now you may spin the same wheel again and move accordingly. # Winning Condition The first play to make to the finishing line wins the game! Hopefully you like my game and help my test play it. Feedback is highly appreciated.
  6. Thanks. I thought the point of the contest is to "display" the figs without displaying them.
  7. I guess I got the general inspiration from Japanese mecha anime, but not anyone in particular. The gun and the booster is actually taken straight from the original Aero Booster set. I only add the head, the body, and the feet.
  8. I really liked the exoforce set Aero Booster before I got it. But after getting it, the tiny robot was a disappointment. So I mod the booster part into a full mecha. Unfortunately, the booster section is too large, so this thing can't stand on its own. Some criticism is welcome.
  9. A frozen caveman is discovered in the Arctic region. Scientific study is underway.
  10. Fight for the Golden Tower The Japanese style golden tower is replace by a Persian-fied golden tower. The robot's Sonic Raven is replace by a roc controlled by a demon. Instead of protecting the secrete code, the tower protects the dagger of time. The tower's main cannon is replace by a flamethrower. The tower's guardian Hitomi is changed to a sexy female fighter. The golden tower by itself The attacking roc

  12. New pic of the 3 new sets are up on brickset. The base looks better than I expected. And the limo looks quite big.
  13. This was my largest set back in childhood. Glad to be an adult and have a decent lego budget.
  14. It lists release date for 8403 as early Aug. I guess we'll see some clear image very soon (already up yesterday).
  15. Ostrich-Riding Guard --> 1million Giant-Mutated Parrot --> 10million Bikini-Wearing Hot Wife --> Priceless

  17. I'd like to see more fantasy elements. Why stop at mermaids? Add some siren, ghost ship, sea monsters and so on.
  18. How about turn a official set into a pirate era set? Just like the castle time wrap contest. Or the other way around. Turn a pirate set into a different theme, like a power miner imperial flagship.
  19. Misty looks like a very lego-accurate portrayal of her. But in lego, Misty looks very fat... But that's lego I suppose.
  20. Great MOC. I love the roof technique. I've been thinking of ways to do roof tiles, but your way is by far the best I've seen. The overall structure looks quite Japanese. My only criticism is that the minifigures somehow don't look very japanese. The oriental expedition torso is a bit overused.
  21. Thanks for your reply. The only feature in this set is the flick missile. There isn't much to show. The turtle also has somewhat limited pose (can't expect much from a turtle anyway).
  22. It's the teenager mutated ninja turtle. I got this set because I thought that giant turtle is cool. All the green stuff on it reminds me of the Green-haired Turtle: Set # - 8079 Name - Shadow Snapper Theme - Atlantis Year - 2010 Piece Count - 246 Minifigures - 1 (Lance Spears with out flippers) Price - MSRP $29.99, £24.99 The box: back: Very few play feature. 2 bags. Bag 1 makes the sub, bag2 makes the turtle. DSS Lance Spear MF: pretty standard for the Atlantis theme He has a dual-sided head. I like the sad expression a lot. Makes you want to bully him Interesting pieces: large tail piece; 12 new claw piece; 2x4 plate; 7 bionicle fin piece; 10 1x1 with stud on the side in lime; (this piece seems to be very common nowadays) 4x4 plate with a 2x2 cutout; (very interesting piece, only available in 2 other sets) And the turtle ring of course. (forgot to added to the photo) The little sub (or is it) uses a lot of snot pieces. The overall shape is decent, but not much to it. The propeller can rotate in all directions except in a direction that will make the thing go forward. But I didn't expect much anyway. Lance: "I can't reach the joystick :(" Of course I didn't buy this set for the sub. The main attraction is the turtle. The base of the turtle. Nice use of all the technic angled sockets. You can see where the 7 bionicle fins are going to go. The down side is all the flashy colors aren't hidden very well once it's done. The shadow snapper itself. It can support itself with the tail and the arms or the tail and the head. When supported by its tail and head, it looks like it's swimming. Like I said before, from the backside, you can see all the yellow and blue. It's not covered up very well. under extra pieces Final verdict: Design: The turtle looks cool from certain angel (see box art), but looks bad from the side or the back. The sub is just a filler. Build: Fairly interest, but building the claws can be a bit repetitive. Parts: Many interesting parts especially for building monsters. The bionicle fins can be used on all kinds of creatures. Price: A bit expensive at MSRP for 246 pieces with a lot of small pieces. Overall: recommend to monster lovers, but if you only want to get one or two atlantis sets, I'll go for something else.
  23. I'll be different. I think the best set is Robo attack. Not only the big robot is great, but the other stuff, the MFs are just wonderful. (too bad I don't have it yet) Not to bash MMV, but I had a horrible time building it. It's extremely repetitive, putting on 20 1x2 plates in one step. Can't they just give us some 1x6 instead? It's a great set to look at, but not a very good building experience.
