42009 Owners ... Speak Up!
-SD- replied to DrJB's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think it's worth it. I had great fun building it with my son and we were both suitably impressed with the end result. Admittedly, he's not played with as much as some of the other models we've done, but it looks very nice on display. -
My daughter and I built the Heartlake Juice Bar after dinner. Which resulted in a long conversation about eating more healthily, and now we're off to town tomorrow to get some sort of blender/smoothie maker.

I'm quite liking the Shopping Mall. It's certainly more substantial than we've been led to believe.

Despicable Me 2, Monsters University and Pacific Rim.

Awesome. Very well done.

I built this with my son today.... or more accurately, he built it and I did the stickers and knotting the string. We're both impressed as it looks great and the colour combination is pretty cool. As a model, I'm actually liking it a little more than either of the Technic Recovery Vechicles.... Nice review too.

Tesco finally decided to restock their shelves this week so I did indeed get the 60056 Recovery/Tow Truck. I'm looking forward to building this with my son on Thursday after he finishes school, whilst his sister is at her ballet lesson. Then we can get onto the Haynes V8 Engine model kit that's been sat there since Xmas.

Over the course of this afternoon, and into the evening, my children and I built the 42023 Construction Crew. I let the kids pick a model each, leaving me with the Excavator. I helped my daughter with the yellow Front Loader before she went to Brownies. This is the first proper Technic model that she's done and I thought she did really well. She knew exactly where everything went, but I had the help with plugging some bits in as those pins can be quite stiff. My son found the Dump Truck a little easy compared to some of the more epic builds we've done together, but he's quite happy with it. And finally, I got to build the Excavator and apply all the stickers this evening after getting them to bed and putting Star Trek Voyager on. Yes, I'm a geek.....

My son has decided he'd like to build a City equivalent of each of his Technic models, if it exists. I can't complain as it's a pretty good idea to be fair.... So today in Tesco we got the 60059 Logging Truck, which he's just completed. Next up will be the 60056 Recovery Vehicle, I think the blue is a good contrast to the black and green of the two Technic versions.

Awesome! Very well done and recognisable. It probably helps that Patlabor is one of my favourite anime series ever though :p

Apologies for the late reply.... my daughter will be 8 next month. We started with the Friends sets when they first came out in 2012, so she would be about the same age your little girl is now. Initially I had to help a bit, but it didn't take long for her to get her head around it all. She finished off the Sunshine Ranch today all by herself.... I've been relegated to sticker duty! My son and I completed the Technic Container Truck over the weekend and I finally got around to doing the stickers on that today too. And finally, I went to the Shell garage today, only to find that the Lego Ferrari promotion is over; I was under the impression it was on until February. Obviously not, but you can now buy the remaining sets without having to purchase the V-Power fuel. We already had all six cars as well as the minifigs, but I wanted another 150* Italia to do the alternate version.

So, the Wild West Pack with the Emmet Minifig is only available for the PS3, PS4, 360 and the One. No Wii U version, which I suppose is understandable, but I'm still quite disappointed. I must admit I'm quite surprised the 3DS isn't getting the WWP though.

I went to Toys R Us today to get a present for my daughter's friend's birthday party. He's getting a couple of the Chima Legend Beasts: the crocodile and the wolf. I also got the Technic Container Truck and the Construction Team, along with the Friends Juice Bar and all three of S4 of the Animal baggies. That should give the kids something to do over the weekend. This evening my son and I built the Town Car Transporter and the Octan Racer.

Technic Cement Mixer
-SD- replied to Rishab N's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Very impressive. It was only the other day my son and I were chatting about how cool a PF Cement Mixer would be..... and now this awesome MOC appears. I'd like to see this as an official set.... although I'd rather have an orange/white or blue/white colour scheme. -
I must admit that I'm getting a little concerned about the situation in the UK. Amazon still don't have it listed at all, and there's no word about the Emmet minifig on GAME's website. I'm sure that everything will be sorted out in time, and the pre-order bonus will be available from GAME, but I'd like to know what's going on.

Once again I'm sure my daughter will end with all of the year's Friends sets, and most likely a good majority of the Disney Princesses too. My son and I will be getting the Technic Container/Skip Lorry and the Cargo Plane as soon as they're in our local Toys R Us or John Lewis. Maybe the Hot Rod too, just to try out the new iPad App, but there's nothing else in the first half of the year that we're interested in, Technic wise. I'm sure we can fill the gap with a few more Chima sets as he's quite into that at the moment, what with the 3DS game and the monthly comic. The real highlight of the year seems to be this Volvo l350.... I'm intrigued and I can't wait to see some pictures. I don't want to get my hopes up too much regarding the overall functions, but if it's full RC and Power Functions, something to equal the incredible 8043, then I'll be over the moon. As for Cuusoo, well, I'm certainly interested in the mobile suit model as it looks very cool. But I'm definitely hoping for greater things..... "what I think I'm saying is, sometimes, shit happens, somebody's gotta deal with it, and who're you gonna call?!"

I ordered mine from S@H the day it was released.... as in 12:01am, along with the Delorean. Anyway, I ended up with 09002.

Favorite Lego Technic sets ?
-SD- replied to Legofan225's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I think 8043 is my favourite so far due to how complex the build is and the overall functionality. The kids have also officially declared it as the best Technic set ever, so that's me convinced..... I also really enjoyed building 42009 with my son, as well as the Unimog he received for his birthday. -
Yesterday we went for trip to Toys R Us only to find out they're not getting any of the new Technic kits in for about two weeks :( And the manager had no idea when Wave 3 of Skylanders Swap force would be arriving either.... On the positive side they did have all of the new Friends kits, except for S4 of the happy little animals, and some new Chima kits. So, over the course of yesterday afternoon/early evening my son and I built all five of the Chima Legend Beasts, which I'm actually quite impressed with. The way they've constructed the heads, and the amount of character contained is awesome. My daughter and I assembled the Heartlake News Van and the Lemonade Stand, then the delivery man randomly showed up at 18:00 with the Sunshine Ranch I ordered from S@H. So we built the free Bakery Stand poly bag and called it a night. This morning we built Stephanie's Beach House, only to find the sail for the windsurfer missing, which is quite disappointing but it's the first time I've ever had a piece missing. I'll get on to customer service and sort it out. And finally, my son and I have just completed the 8043 Mobile Excavator..... it's absolutely fantastic! They're driving it round the living room right now taking turns seeing what they can pick up and move with it. I knew it was worth hunting down but I really am blown away with how impressive it is. We've been working on it for the past week and the end result is well worth it.

Thanks for pointing that out :) I checked the online Lego Store immediately afterwards and the promotion was live, so I ordered the Sunshine Ranch for my daughter. It's also mentioned in the new catalogue which I found on the doormat a little later on.

I'll be sticking with the Wii U. There's enough quality software available to keep me going for quite a while.
-
Put some petrol in the car at the local Shell garage so I could get one of the the little Ferrari kits. Went for the 458 Italia this time and now we have 3/6. I'd like the FXX next time, but my son seems fascinated by the Scuderia Truck. I'm sure it doesn't matter as we'll end up with all six anyway.

I have to agree with greeny. I've played most, if not all of the licensed Lego games on the Wii, but Undercover on the Wii U takes it to an entirely different level. The game isn't perfect by any means, but it's certainly very ambitious and very well done. It's just a shame that it has such long load times and constant frame-rate drops, something that could be cured in a sequel, although that's unlikely considering the poor sales of the console. I'm looking forward to Lego Marvel Super Heroes this Friday, I have the Limited version on pre-order with the Iron Patriot Minifig. Would anyone care to comment on the 3DS version of Undercover? I've read conflicting reviews so I'm not too sure about it....

Hello to all.... I thought should finally introduce myself after lurking for a while. Amongst He-Man, Thundercats, Ninja Turtles, and Transformers, Lego was one of my most beloved toys as a child. I had a few of the original Space sets and some of the Pirates. The most notable ones I remember would be the 6285 Black Seas Barracuda, the 6990 Monorail and the nifty 'Light & Sound' 6770 Lunar Transporter. The last two kits I remember doing before my 'Dark Age' were the 8865 Test Car and the 8862 Backhoe Grader, which I recently discovered in my Mum's loft; I'm sure the Monorail remnants may be hiding up there too. And now here I am all these years later at 34, with two children, and probably more Lego than we have space for. I started my son off with the new 6243 Brickbeard's Bounty as I had such fond memories of my original pirate ship. Then we moved on to Ninjago and a few of the City sets, but as he's got older we've been building Technic and fiddling with Mindstorms. Over the last year or so we've built all of the larger sets I could find like the Unimog, 4x4 Crawler, Boss Crawler, Mobile Crane MkII, etc. Santa even has a Logging Truck stashed away somewhere..... My daughter is a huge Friends fan, and she's really looking forward to the new Princess range. Somehow, we've ended up with all the retail sets (other than 3942 for some reason), the happy little animals, and a couple of the promo bags. She spends hours playing with them, which makes me happy to see how creative she is. As for myself, I'm currently playing Lego City: Undercover and educating the boy with EV3.
