  1. The Amtrak-style double decker train is something I've been wanting to build. Two levels for each car, with the passage way between cars on the upper level. These wagon bases are key. Unfortunately, my wallet can't keep up with my imagination right now. Since your bases are black, would you still make the cars grey? If you're looking for freight car ideas, I remember Lionel had a depressed flatcar that carried a very large transformer, and other versions carrying other oversized items.
  2. I'd be very interested in obtaining: 1773 1774 (it's not on the initial list, I noticed) 1817 (ditto) 1818 I've been unable to locate 1773 on eBay or BL, the others are available, but expensive. I'd take 1772 and 1775 too if everyone else who wants them gets them first (I have them already, though 1775 is not in the best shape, it needs a new tail fin). The others are all neat, but I'm not that interested in them; I'm trying to add a third airline to my airport :-) what about 1252 to 1256, the Shell gas station sets? They weren't available in the US if I remember correctly. I'm interested in 1254, 1255, and 1256.
  3. There's only one thing I want to see: a UCS-style 20th Century Limited with a 'J' locomotive. That would be great!
  4. I like it, it reminds me of Lego's old red station, but with more of a late 70s-early 80s feel. Got any shots of the backside/inside? I'd like to see it.

    Help on ideas?

With the new seaport coming out, a flatbed to hold two of the new 6-wide containers might serve you well...
  6. Aside from what's been mentioned, there's only 6564, a hideously <insert that tiresome argument> recycle truck from 1997 in the minifig era.
  7. I would love to see DT minifigs. There are 3 phases of DT but the phase 2s are the best looking (phase 1s are kind of lanky and useless, and there was only 1 prototype of the phase 3). They should be in a Kyle Katarn themed set, I'm thinking his first ship, the Moldy Crow. They could be accessory figs, like all those figs in the new X-Wing. Kyle Katarn is my favorite SW character, and he is probably one of the most developed and fleshed out EU characters, so I would like to see him in Lego form (besides custom minifigs I and others have made). He is likely popular enough to have a decent selling set made, just like the Ebon Hawk from Knights of the Old Republic would sell decently well.
  8. Your info has helped me understand this new system better. It's an interesting set up, but the parts are ugly as sin. As a minifig scale builder who likes to incorporate power and light functions into my models, even the medium sized motor may be too big. I like the old technic motors and especially the micromotor. The remote control feature might have some uses, that remains to be seen. You said these are compatible with the 9V system, does that mean they run off 6 batteries in that battery box and I'm only seeing 3 in that photo you have?
  9. Keep up the good work. Airports and their surroundings were my favorite parts of the town line. Most of my towns were focused around the airport, even before I got one.
  10. Well, I haven't seen a good shot of the inventory, but if there's no motor, then you're right, it's not a great set. The price/piece ratio is close to historical LEGO sets but recent sets with an abundance of generic parts (787, Maersk Sealand, etc) will blow this set out of the water. Granted, there's 30 instructions, but 29 of those are likely going to be offered to everyone online, so I see even less incentive to get the set now.
  11. Not sure what you mean by 'engine' but if you mean a 9V train motor there is one clearly in the main model on the box. It would be awfully bad of LEGO to show a model with the motor and then not include it in the set... I really like the set. I probably won't get it, as I really have no need of it (I only own 10001) but it's good to see that LEGO will be continuing 9V for some time. As for building multiple models, there's an steam engine and caboose on the box, each primarily a different color and neither of which looks to be close to 1000 pieces, so it would seem you should be able to build both at the same time.
  12. Gotta agree with you there, though I don't own it. Someday... As for favorite set I own, I'll have to go with 6399's raison d'etre, the 6396 International Jetport. I love the design of that as the resort/tourist airport, compared with the earlier old-style municipal airport and the later modern giant multi-use airport.
  13. The larger ones they made aren't available anymore. Hence why I am not buying any that are still available.
  14. I've been wanting to build an offshore rig for some time. The pictures in these forums are good, but nothing at the true balance of minifig scale and detail that I want. However, they have inspired me, I'm going to start designing one in MLCad now.
  15. Greedo, Bib Fortuna, and CC Boba Fett. I like uniquely molded alien heads. I just wish there were more tan heads than the one that comes with Bib, so I could have more than one twi'lek minifig.
  16. I saw this a few days ago on my daily brickshelf recent items browsing. It's one of the best SW MOCs I've seen. I wish lego would release sets of this caliber for SW.
  17. I hope it hits the US soon, that's the one aquaraiders set I said I was definitely going to buy when it comes out. Imagine how mad I was when I saw the new AR line at TRU in november and it wasn't on the shelf :-(
  18. I love L&S sets. I got one as a child, the town Rescue Helicopter, which is an amazing design. Recently, I purchased the Jetport Fire Squad, which fills its role nicely. I also have the F-1 hauler, but I gave up on keeping it as a set because the parts are more useful than the set. I also had to replace the lights on the JFS with the ones from the F-1 hauler because one bulb burned out. I always liked the space L&S sets but never got any of them. I liked the Alpha Centauri Outpost and the one Space Police I spaceship that had it. The Magma Carrier looks like a good set for L&S pieces, but it's not that great of a set without them. Several of the pre-Futuron L&S models are better designs overall.
  19. Might I remind you that the UCS Star Destroyer and Death Star are both VERY expensive, yet they sell. And there were and are many sets in all themes that had a high price, such as the monorails, technic sets, trains, etc. The skyscraper doesn't have to be huge, something on the scale of 6398 Police HQ. Reconfigured, it could be a few stories taller and not take up as much area.
  20. This is pretty early to pre-order them. I won't even be at the same address when they ship!
  21. Where is it available?
  22. You got a pretty decent town started. You're fortunate in that you have many of the old house sets that LEGO hasn't made since the early 90s. You are also fortunate to have many roadplates. I had some of the old grey ones like you have, but no X or Ts so I had to buy them on Bricklink. They're surprisingly cheap for the condition they're in. This year's a good one for town, there's a new gas station and seaport coming out in the summer. I don't think a City house is too probable in the future, since they have all these creator houses, so you're in good shape there. If you have room for an airport, you might be able to get the City Airport rerelease still. I got mine on clearance this summer. Good ideas for MOCs are banks (the two lego made are hard to find, esp. the older one), skyscrapers, and little things like phone booths, etc. I focus on the little stuff when I can, since I can't do big structures/layouts yet (small apartment). Also, welcome to the forums!
  23. I've seen two ways. First is to use official lego brand electric parts. This is easiest, since most lighting elements have used the 9V system since the late 1980s. The downside is that they are getting more expensive now since the best parts have not been made in a while. The other option is to use LEDs and other generic lights with batteries. This is cheaper, since you can get batteries, wires, and a pack of LEDs at an electronics parts store for relatively cheap. The downside is that it requires a little bit of knowledge of the parts and electricity. If you hook a 3V led up to a 9V, you'll burn it out very quickly. you can run two 3V LEDs off of two 1.5V batteries if you know how to hook them up correctly.
  24. Heck, I'd vote for your avatar over any of the other cars, it looks much better.
  25. The delorian with the Mr. Fusion in back would probably sell the best, since it has universal recognition. I like the Aston Martin, though I tend to prefer luxury cars over sports cars. And as interesting and neat as the modular town buildings are, I don't think they'd sell well in the U.S. They are very european looking and unfamiliar to anyone who hasn't looked into european urban forms, meaning kids namely. The current town line-up has the advantage of being modern, and therefore universal.
