  1. You can also find Lego at Toyrus. There are a couple of locations in KL, you can refer to the website. If you go to the TRU at MidValley mall, the Brick Town Boys outlet is at The Gardens just in the next mall. Btw Lego is not at all cheap in Malaysia. So hope you don't get disappointed. http://www.toysrus.com.my/inside/location.htm
  2. You are most welcome. Try to get all 3 books if you can, especially the Book Museum. I really love that book. Let us know if you discover new places and Lego merchandise in japan k? :)
  3. Hi Jonas, congrats on your upcoming holiday and hope you'll have loads of fun. I went to Osaka & Kyoto in May & shared my Lego shopping experiences in my blog: Lego shopping in Japan In Tokyo I went to the clickbricks store in Venus Fort which was relatively easy to find but quite small. Apart from Lego lifestyle exclusives in Japan, you can also consider getting some of the Japanese Lego books: - List of Lego books I like (look at Book Museum & the Red & Green Idea Books) - Some pics of the Red Idea Book from Japan More info is also available in my blog about Nanoblock if you are interested (just click on the category 'Nanoblocks').
  4. Just wanted to share what an unopened box looks like. Once again, really loving the plastic panels that gives a preview of set contents. Side: Inside: Back:
  5. I realised the review did not include the box, which features really lovely pictures and alternate builds so here are the box pics: Front Side Inside (& close-ups)- love the plastic packaging! Back (with more alternate builds) I don't think I can bear to open this MISB set, but luckily I've more than one set of Poolside Paradise. Really do hope they release the 2011 Belville theme in minifig size as some rumours have indicated.
  6. Thanks! Hi Canada_7, it's loads of fun to try, so why not? Just to tempt you a bit more (I hope), here's a comparison of the pizzeria:
  7. Absolutely A-M-A-Z-I-N-G. Thanks for sharing! And looking forward to clearer pics too.
  8. Hmm... never really thought about it but when I look at the hands the other way seems more anatomically correct. Cos I look at my hands and when they are curled the top part is naturally curved and shorter cos of the thumb.
  9. Well done, really like the custom decals cos they really add a touch of realism to the MOC. Looking forward to your next MOC.
  10. Thanks for all your kind comments! Yeah, the stairs don't leave a lot of space... I thought of leaving out the stair railings but then that's not very child safe... what with 2 young kids in the house So for now the family of 4 all run over to the pizzeria when they have any 'business' to attend to. Based on my experience with these 2 sets, 2 boxes would be enough to give you the key features you need to make a 'beefier' version for a 16x32 baseplate but I also needed to use: - quite a lot of plain bricks for the walls - 2x2/3/4 bricks for stairs - some other parts like tiles (at least to plate the floor connections if not have enough to plate floor even better) - plates (for ceiling/floor) - Windows n doors for pizzeria cos I didn't want to use white. In terms of how much plain bricks to use, roughly one bagful like what you see in this pic plus all those already in the set. Thanks! My studio consists of catching natural light at the right time (I find late morning & early afternoon works best) and a few pieces of cardboard placed on the floor near the windows when I need to take photos.
  11. Oh I see! No such buildings in my part of the world. Great accuracy then! :)
  12. Great creation! Love the greenhouse and garden gnomes. Did find the stairs on the outside to be rather distracting tho. Possible to move them inside?
  13. Continuing my modularisation of official sets, next up was the 8403 City House: Which became this: Features from the original set retained includes the roof, the porch (although redesigned to have front door porch as well as back porch), garden… well, pretty much most of the basics. I tweaked the windows on 1st and 2nd floor to become bay windows so the house facade is not so flat, and also built in a little balcony on the rooftop. I did up some simple interiors as well: 1st floor: Sofa, 52 inch TV, kitchen with sink, stove and a bar counter. 2nd floor: Just a bed and computer table: 3rd floor: Small balcony Overhead shots: Back of house has a porch: If made into 2 storey house: Street view: As usual, more pics and descriptions in my blog. Thanks for looking!
  14. I thought the calendar isn't too bad given the pricing where I live, but I really hate the faceless cat. The previous cat with face printing is so cute but the new cat is just creepy...
  15. Umm... actually no, been really busy at work, blogging and building, so not so much time allocated for photo taking yet... editing photos of my modular 8403 now as a matter of fact... If I do take tho, I'll be sure to post them here.
  16. Continuing my ‘modularisation’ of official City sets, I worked on 7641 City Corner so that my Legolings can finally get some pizza. Completed this a while back, but haven’t had time to sit down and edit the photos until now. There are a lot more pics on my blog here: Link Front Back The 3 floors unstacked Kitchen Rooftop with alfresco dining Hope you like it too.
  17. This is the my favorite among all the 'Inception' inspired MOCs I've seen so far. Excellent job and great forced perspective. Looking forward to more fantastic work from you.
  18. Great MOC! I saw it on Flickr yesterday and blogged about it almost immediately(Link). Looks like a really fun set to play with!
  19. Thanks for your support! I have done up the Town Hall, but no plans for the service station yet tho. Hope you like the Town Hall too. Link to EB post for Town Hall: EB Link Link to my blog with more pics: Blog Link Oh I think they are great ideas too! I'm not really good at photoshopping tho so I'll stick to playing with bricks for now. I think some other talented AFOL could probably easily use your idea or would you be sharing a MOC soon? Thanks also to the rest for your kind compliments! I've done up the Pizzeria from 7641 City Corner (pics not done yet tho) and am moving on to 8403 Home this weekend. Modularising is addictive!
  20. I would say yes, but it always depends on whether I've free time, inspiration and the right bricks on hand... I may alter the white modular building so as to get a matching set of buildings too. I just don't like open backed buildings... but it's a very expensive 'dislike' to have! Would you be 'modularising' any sets too?
  21. Thanks to everyone for your kind comments and encouragement! Thanks for the great idea! I looked up Metro Park on Brickset and a parking place does sound possible... but will have to wait until I get a huge BL order tho cos I don't have enough plates & tiles to do something like that. Am resisting BL cos I just spent a bomb recently. Btw, I do post my MOCs on my blog, including WIPs so you could visit my blog now and then if you want to see more? I'm now working on a modular Pizzeria from 7641 City Corner which I really really like.
  22. Oh well done elkapitan, very nice! Really like the chocolate colored statue and multi-layer arches on the 2nd floor. Hope to see the interiors soon!
  23. Thanks! The idea of using the golden minifig came from a fellow Singapore AFOL who had shared how to remove the keychain pin on the local forum. Unfortunately I wasn't strong enough to yank the pin out, so you still see the pin head there. Oh! I've been talking to AFOLs about modularising I didn't realise it may be a new word? In that case I love the idea of adding to the English language. No idea really how to do a 2 storey service station... or what to put on the 2nd floor so just keeping the parts aside until I've an inspiration. Thanks for all your kind comments so far (in this and other posts!) Oh, it's not a church, it's a civil ceremony. Registering the marriage?
  24. Very nice Red Brick! And I must admit, I'm a little envious of all the space you have. I suggest moving and grouping the wind turbines to the outskirts near the farm for more 'realism' and impact, but overall nice place you got. I went for harbour cos I noticed your town is near the sea. And then you can also have the cargo train to start transporting container shipments...
  25. Continuing with my plan to modularise city sets, my next target was the Town Hall from the 10184 Town Plan. Front Back Interior - 1st Floor Interior - 2nd Floor Bonus shots More pictures and some narratives done up on my blog: Link The liberal use of black bricks and trans clear panels is due to insufficient dark green bricks and pillars... Since I have no inspiration for modularising the 3rd 'building' in the Town Plan, I guess that's the end of playing with my Town Plan for now. Pic of Town Plan here for comparison: Link to my modular cinema here: EB Post TIA for your kind comments and suggestions. Edit: Sorry The Brickster! I've reloaded a new image file and re-did the link. Missed re-sizing the initial 2nd floor overhead pic. My bad.
