Yeah... I got four. I figured you could make a decent carriage with four; the figures are great for what you're paying. The only problem is you end up with twice as many Lion knights.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5 discussion
fred67 replied to eiker86's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Because they jacked up the price last year already, from $1.99 to $2.99... a FIFTY percent increase, and when we complained people were like "stop whining, you Americans still get LEGO cheaper than everybody else!" So... now the shoe's on the other foot, and I have sympathy for you, I really do, but I don't know what to say... you finally see the validity of the complaint in that it's not the final price people complain about (it's still cheaper than build-a-minifig, after all), it's that you know it's ALL profit when, in less than a year, the price goes up so much... and you have to figure the original price was set to make a decent profit they were satisfied with already. But it is capitalism, and I'm a capitalist, and ultimately $3 is still not that terrible, and as a profit driven company they will raise prices to the breaking point to maximize profit. -

+1 panpowa, my first deal in Australia. +1 White Cat -
Yes... this is one of the most interesting threads I've seen in a while, courtesy of DLuders. There's no reason they need any specialty pieces to build the vehicle itself. The only thing that TLG could add to this is dedicated track, and that "the mold broke" is a lame excuse if there's demand for it.

The brand and exact colors are in the OP.

None of my Targets have them. On top of that, there was no 50% POP sale (or any POP sale) last week like many people were reporting. One of my Targets had series 3 for a while, but that was it... and yes, I get around to about 5 different Targets looking for them.

Yeah... Hi, my name is Fred, and I'm a LEGO hoarder. I do not part out most sets, so that's not an option. I have a number of bracket shelves in my bonus room that I share with my wife... we have our desks, a love seat and TV, and shelves with LEGO. The shelves are packed. I'd redo the whole thing with more shelves, but the way I want to do it would cost a lot of money that I could otherwise be spending on more LEGO. I've recently boxed up a few sets (although, as I said, I don't part them out) and put them in my closet. I've gotten more storage containers for pieces, but that's another thread. I display some sets at work... all my architecture and much of my Star Wars (where it's appreciated more than in my home!) are in my office, but not all of it. I've recently started a sales thread to get rid of some sets I'd never even opened, but were taking up closet space. The bonus room has large closets... my wife and I each get one, mine is half packed with LEGO. In addition, I have a lot of boxed LEGO in my bedroom closet. I have plans to un-clutter, some of which have come to fruition, but mostly they involve that last step of LEGO organization - moving to a larger house to have more room for LEGO.

Didn't see this mentioned, so I'll throw it out there... Until July 15 (11:59pm), Free shipping + Kingdoms "Target Practice" set on orders over $75.

REVIEW: 8805 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 5
fred67 replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Another great CMF review, WhiteFang. The only one I don't care much about is the clown. It's disappointing that there's only 3 graduates, not because they will be particularly useful (although a graduation MOC would require many of them), but because that's the kind of thing I'd like to give as gifts to people. I did the same with the karate guy because my son is involved in martial arts. Ones I'll want multiples of, besides the graduate... definitely a few Dwarves, although I have a few fantasy era dwarves... a nice compliment. A few (not a whole lot) of gladiators. A few zoo keepers, mostly for the monkeys, but female heads are always nice to have... although I'm not too thrilled with the smirk. I'm VERY looking forward to "Cleopatra," and will probably make several MOCs with that figure. The gangster is also quite nice, especially the hat and case. Great series... can't wait. August, right? Uggh. -
Welcome CommoScout. I've always preferred "ALE" to "AFOL" myself.

Yes... Singapore is probably one of the only places that sign wouldn't be trashed within a matter of days. It's a great idea, and well executed.
-
All I can think of is inverse slopes... you'll get more of a half-hexagon shape than an arch, though.
-
That's what I'm expecting to happen... I don't see a problem with it, though... until it's complete, one of the cases will simply not be completely full.
-
If you could do a minor redesign.... I have the cases from the Container Store (as shown on another thread); you can fit 7 CMF baseplates across three rows, so staggering it you get 6 in the middle. 7+6+7=20, which ends up being quite a good number for CMFs (5 series times 16 figures = 80 = 20 times four display stands).

In addition to my last post (none of which has been claimed, BTW), I'm offering this non-LEGO, but definitely LEGO related lot... In the neighborhood of 30 Akro-Mills small drawer dividers. All my organizers are the medium sized ones, so the small dividers that come on the back are useless to me. SOLD (so to speak) to darkdragon.

I only did the one as a test. I have maybe 4 more to try. Need to start "feeling" for more at the LEGO store.

12 Not counting repeats, 17 counting repeats.... and it depends what you call a repeat. (x2) (I like my high speed train with two sloping ends, but the picture doesn't go that way) (Got the SFSC on Bricklink, but built the cars from pieces, not exact). (x2) (x2 + 1 with the Red Mod) (built from pieces) (no images) 4708 Hogwarts Express (x2, from 2001 Sorcerer's Stone) (no images) 4841 Hogwarts Express (2010) (no images) 7597 Toy Story 3 Great Western Train Chase. I have other cars, like two intermodal sets and a couple of the old MOT cars; I actually haven't been buying much lately - several Emerald Nights over the past couple of years, but only one Maersk so far. I'm not enamored with the sets lately. In addition, although you may not count these, I have gotten the latest Hogwart's Express and the TS3 Train (which I PF motorized).

Are they still going to make Chess/TicTacToe sets?
fred67 replied to ziljin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
This thread is interesting, too. I'm selling two fantasy era tic-tac-toe sets. Yes, a great way for army building. Some might suggest that they are the "poor" quality, "made in China" figures, but those tic-tac-toe sets were a great value for the money. It would be interesting to find out how well they sold. There's a lot of complaining that there's not enough dragon knights in Kingdoms. Personally, my collection is all over the place... fantasy, kingdoms, and older, and I don't really care, but I do see the point. It hurts that you can't get the battlepacks anymore, either. That seems odd for a line like this. I know there were some problems with the first battlepacks - the figures wouldn't grip the weapons well. In the ones I bought, though, the weapons were simply not inserted correctly when they were packed, putting strain on the minifigure hands. I took the weapons out and left them for a while (couple of weeks, although it probably didn't actually take that long) and the figures hold the weapons just fine now. In any event, it would be nice to see new battlepacks. Lastly, after the battlepacks were discontinued, I decided that Knight's Showdown was a good set to accumulate figures. At $7 MSRP, you get two figures, and they are not the "Chinese" ones. That works out to $3.50/each, whereas a battlepack was $15 for 5, or $3/each (for the cheap ones). When TRU is having a BOGO50% sale (as they are right now), you can actually get them cheaper than $3.50. In fact, it would be four for $12 (because TRU charges $8)... same price at battlepack figures, plus you get all the extra pieces. The only problem then is lack of variety, but I picked up four sets last BOGO50% at TRU. With Bricklink, you can outfit them differently, so it's not so bad. Anyway... back on topic, I agree with you, it would be nice to see some new army building sets, either battlepacks or tic-tac-toe/chess. LEGO doesn't really care much about AFOL army builders and, while I can see their point, it's still disappointing. Still, even kids would want battlepacks if they already have a castle or something, right? -
Update - added 7751, Ashoka's Starfighter and Vulture Droid, and two copies of the castle Tic-Tac-Toe set. And 4504 pictures... only box damage is a tear in one side. DSCF0804 by FredJH, on Flickr EDIT: And a 4708 Hogwart's Express, NIB!

To be fair, as down as I am on PF, it's not really PF itself - it's how you get power to the motors or receivers. I've only ever had terrible experiences with rechargeable batteries. I'm a lot happier with the AAA battery packs... but I use the trains sporadically, so proper storing (even of regular batteries) is annoying, and seems wasteful replacing 6 AA or AAA batteries at a time. You do NOT need DCC to get the benefits of PF with powered rail; some people are doing it already, using powered rail to charge the battery even. I realize there's all these laws about powered toys for kids... a fine example of too much government interference, IMO; some blanket policy likely due to something other than trains. Batteries are a LOT more wasteful than pulling electric from a wall socket in both energy usage and cost, and batteries are a lot less environmentally friendly. I just wish there was a better way to power the devices; if TLG could just release a 9 or 12V pickup for "older" "kids" in addition to batteries, it would be a lot better. Certainly parents might opt to get that system for their children, but then it's their decision, not the government's.

Hi, Generally like to discuss things in PMs, but since you can't yet, was there something you needed to know about it?
-
Bricklink calls them "logs," TLG calls them "palisade" bricks. I'm sure I saw at least one or two in your MOC, but perhaps you just had round bricks next to each other. My local LEGO store recently had 1x2 on their PAB wall and I was able to get a box ($70). EDIT: trying to look again, but it looks like brickshelf is down as I write this.

I would like to do that, too! I haven't priced out any NBA heads, but I'll have to take a look. Drow would be awesome to have.
