  1. Oh... didn't mean to sound insulting. I just meant that when I have the room to build my layout, it'll be more cityscaping(*), but then I know I will have to sacrifice train playability, too. Coming from N-Scale, LEGO scale takes a LOT of space. At the same time, if I wait until I have tons of space, I may never get a chance to build anything at all, so I really appreciate what you've built there. (*) EDIT: Like a place for my modular buildings, creator houses, and MOCs.
  2. Oh, come on... I still like it. I'm not going to complain about the hair. The punk rock girl hair is available on bricklink and probably the packets still reside in many an old CMF bin. There's a new drum set on Cuusoo that's far better than this one (IMO), but without even really being able to see this one, I didn't want to use a radar dish for my bass drum, because the curvature looks awkward. I'll still get this... probably a couple.
  3. Wow! Fantastic with the lights on OR off. The attention to detail is amazing. Congratulations.
  4. Nice. Five separate speed regulators? Are there really five separate track segments? My only problem is that, while it looks like a lot of fun to play with, there's not a lot else besides trains. Are those tables 30 inches wide?
  5. X-Men First Class. Not being a big comic fan, and just an average X-Men movie fan, I thought it was the best one so far. I guess I like back-story.
  6. Really? I don't see how it's the same as the U.S. version, then, all we got was shaky-cam nonsense without any real blood or violence - not that I'm complaining, I'm not into torture porn, just that's not what I recall seeing on the screen. Maybe it's because I haven't seen it in many months... maybe the UK 12 version cut out the after-the-fact blood, but you never actually see anything, AFAIR. I would rather have seen a little more (they could dispense with blood splatter), and a little less shaky-cam. During the final fight, I couldn't even tell who was hitting who.
  7. I don't know - I'm not a retailer, but I don't see how you can be unhappy with with $160 on Ebay (mine, for that price, included shipping and no taxes). If I could buy a case locally for MSRP it'd be $180+ tax (ultimately over $190... $209.40 + tax at rip off TRU). I doubt you'll get an average of $4/figure. Assuming you're in the U.S., TLG seems to have saturated the market, and there's so many ebay auctions for figures (and bricklink), I haven't really seen them go for that much... and what pain, too, if you ended up with 40 individual transactions.
  8. You can order the Ghost Polybag from Bricklink for $10, but then that's ALL you get. These packs will be much more worth it.
  9. Thanks for the answers... For 1: I think my sales thread doesn't violate BSTF, so I emptied out my bazaar thread (wouldn't want duplicates in both forums) and created a new one in BSTF... I will not bump it. As far as I'm concerned, you can close any of my others. I only do this maybe once a year anyway, so I think BSTF is better. For 2: Completely understood... FWIW, when visit I always just use "view new content," as my interests are so varied it's just easier that way, and the sales threads never really bothered me; I usually not looking to buy things from people here, so I liked seeing the occasional thread where a member was selling stuff I might be able to get for a good price, but I understand that people do abuse privileges. So... it bothers me I'll have to proactively seek bargains out if the topic doesn't fit in BSTF, but I completely understand, too. I hope it's not annoying that I recreated my thread in BSTF. It's my once a year thing and I won't bump it, and I'd only make a new topic if I really had something interesting to sell.
  10. In celebration of the Monster and Rock Band set, I present the hastily made Monsters of Rock: mor by FredJH, on Flickr
  11. Just did the same... although I may end up at the store for some extras of some figures, it just makes sense... One complete set for display. One complete set for posterity. The rest go to MOCs and my kids - which is why I often still need more. Ebay price is less than retail ($180), free shipping, no tax. It's hard to spend all that at once ($162.50, in this case), but it ends up being well worth it...
  12. Minifig, Utensil Box Wrench (click on the image):
  13. Yeah... yes and no. It would be nice if the head moved with the head-wear (hair, hat, helmet, whatever), but then it might be really difficult to take it apart. I don't think there's supposed to be a "supposed to." In other words, I don't think you can really complain about it either way.
  14. You mean the rubber from the black tires "melted" onto the baseplates? If it's not printed, I'd try a cloth with alcohol. EDIT: And yes - retrobright works wonderfully, and even faster with oxyclean.

  16. I think BL sellers have gotten ripped on CMFs... While it's true you can buy a case for less than MSRP from some sources, the price has to be what people are willing to pay - and in each series, there are some that are above MSRP (Zombies, Elves, etc) and some that way below... people just don't want them, so they can try to sell them for MSRP or higher, but they won't have much luck. I think CMF is overall a bad deal for bricklink sellers, it doesn't seem like they make a lot of money on them overall.
  17. The problem with the set with the elf is there seemed to be little rhyme or reason to it... just because those were voted the highest (and I sincerely doubt that), doesn't mean that anybody that voted for one would care at all for the others. It really made little sense. The beach set, and now these other sets, are themes. Much better, IMO. So if they wanted to release one in the future with the elf, the dwarf, and perhaps some, as of yet unreleased CMF (not necessarily - the ghost wasn't a CMF), then that'd be far better for the vast majority of people who want elves... especially if the mixed it up and used the dark werewolf hair with standard yellow ears. Ahem.
  18. So... I had a sale topic that I eventually just removed everything a few days ago. I recreated a new sales thread in the Bazaar (some same, many other new items). I don't know why I put it there; I guess because I bumped my last thread (although I doubt it could be considered abusive in context), and figured I might bump it some day (*). My problem is that I think a lot of casual EB users won't bother looking, but might very well be interested if they see something interesting. It would be cool if the initial post was shown in New Posts, but not Active Posts, and replies wouldn't put it back in New Posts (although I realize what a pain that would be to program, being a programmer and all). So now I don't know if I should post in Bazaar or BSTF - I don't intend to bump my threads abusively, and this is the first new thread I've made in a year. (*) I do think it's fair to bump if you add items or change prices as long as it doesn't happen that often... I mean, I could see someone bumping their thread by changing the price of one item by $0.01 every hour - I would never do that. I'm talking about like a week after the first post when I drop prices or add items. I see you moved a ton of threads to the Bazaar... were these threads or users you considered, for lack of a better word, abusive?
  19. Moved to BSTF since I don't plan on violating the rules.
  20. I get the msxbox logo, too. Enabling javascript for that page didn't help.
  21. The recolor is what makes it more interesting, IMO; the "white thing" looks like a reflection off the plastic... it's all over that photo, but it looks worse in that spot (perhaps because it's in the center). I actually really like it - although, for the record, I like the monster one more. "moon5starsun?" Yeah, who knows what the heck that is. Someone taking credit for the "leak?" I find it hard to believe TLG would give it a name like that. EDIT: That's the name of the ebay seller. EDIT: the bidding is up to $67.50 on ebay for the monster set... I don't like it that much. EDIT: There's another one for a lot less right now. - has a set number, 850487.
  22. Do we know the prices, or just presuming the same as the beach set ($15US)? I'm actually not that annoyed at $15.00; I can't get the German Ghost set here for less than $10 (N.A. on bricklink). I guess it could be available here in the future for less, but it's not worth it for a ghost and a clock I can easily make out of spare parts I already have. On the other hand, while the witch may not be all that, getting a zombie AND ghost AND witch AND accessories for only 50% more is a lot more worth it. Since I'm here, I've heard "Legoland CA" as a source, anyone got any ideas on availability elsewhere? I DID order from Legoland CA (I'm in GA) before. It just might take a phone call. We do have a Legoland Discovery Center in Atlanta, but it's a hike and I wouldn't want to go unless I was sure.
  23. I'll get multiples of each, if possible.... more of the monster sets. I don't see this availability of ghosts and zombies except in expensive or not-available-here sets, so I think it's a great addition. Brick built guitar... it IS LEGO, but as a non-purist buyer from brickforge, guitars and drumsticks are readily available.
  24. Agree with GRogall... especially would like to see some instructions. I have a non-limited edition Super Chief that I got on auction before BL stopped doing auctions. I had to build the cars myself, as the sets were too expensive. Over the years, I've kept collecting the kinds of pieces used to make those cars so that I can build more (the only difference is the roof - I can't afford the gray curved slopes), so I have enough to probably build a couple more at least. I would love to get some more back-story, too. I always felt that the M.O.T. was largely a failure because it wasn't well advertised. I didn't even really know about it until around the time they stopped selling those sets, unfortunately, and like GRogall, LEGO trains are mostly what got me out of my dark ages.
  25. Sorting by color vs. sorting by type = you can't win. If you sort by color, for example, all red 2x2, 2x3. 2x4 in the same bin, then it can become a real chore trying to find a particular piece, especially when you're largely using that piece and don't have a lot left. For example, you use almost all your 2x4 bricks... finding another one in a bin full of the same color 2x2 and 2x3 bricks sucks. However, find the last few red 2x4s in a bin full of 2x4s of other colors is usually not that difficult. On the other hand, if you're building something large (let's say a house, for example), you'll want mostly the same color - so if you sort by type, then you need all your bins to get all the various types of pieces in that color. This is assuming you have copious amounts of all the pieces. What I've finally started doing is both... except for the large number of bigger pieces, I've been moving towards using the Akro-mills storage drawers and sorting by both color and type. It's still not easy, because I may have just a few 1x1, 2x2, 1x3, 1x4.... and what would be several drawers (or more) of 1x2, because that's the most common piece I use for making buildings. Still... even if I have to have excess stored separately, having most of the different types of pieces in one color in one unit makes building things like that a lot easier. Of course, it took me years (and well over 100k pieces) to finally make my move to that kind of system, and I'm not even remotely done - just a few colors so far (the ones I have the least of). The other problem is there are some types of pieces - greebles and technic, where it often simply doesn't matter what color you have - you just need the right piece. If you've got them all separated by color, then you may need to search each color's storage unit to find what you need. So... whatever works for you, but my warning is that I started off trying to be really "neat" in my storage and found that it wasn't conducive to building. There's no way you can sort that completely eliminates all problems, but what you decide should make it easy to pull a bin or storage unit out and largely make what you want to make without having to get bits and pieces from a dozen different units.
