  1. My deepest sympathies for you and your family.
  2. Another interpretation of "sad" could be that, for an adult, it's a bit of a waste of time (to put it mildly) to complain over and over again about toy models they're not intending to purchase anyway. The bulldozer may be a bit simple for my taste, but I think it looks good and for my 8 year old son it might be a perfect holiday gift!
  3. Probably too because with normal motor return to center is a lot harder to achieve than with a servo.
  4. At first sight it doesn't look bad at all, IMHO. Also refreshing to see a set without LA's. Functionality may be simple, but seems all right for the target audience. I wonder how the engine is driven, also how it will work as in my experience the chain links tend to glide when pushed, especially with lighter models.
  5. Is it a coincidence that you shot your 42009 right next to that weapon of mass destruction? By the way, I bought mine for 150 euros (Netherlands) and for that price you definitely get good value. S@H price of 200 euros seems a bit steep, but then again prices seem to be going up a bit since last year…
  6. My guilty pleasure is that I actually like 8070 a lot… In the past I made a mod for a rotating in-cabin steering wheel ( see http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=513354 ). Do you think that would fit too? Do you plan to make instructions (in any kind of way)? I would really appreciate that!
  7. Absolutely fantastic! I especially like the way you did the transmission plus spoiler, and the music of course!
  8. I thought that too, but then why is there an axle towball on the changeover catch? That doesn't make much sense to me.
  9. Inside the cab there is a changeover catch in the center, but also some kind of yellow lever next to the right seat. Could it have some kind of transmission?
  10. Sariel, are you going to make a video review of 42024's B-model too? It seems interesting and has more (real) functions than the A-model. Still doubting of I should buy it though...
  11. Nice review, makes me want to build it ASAP. Can your hamster (is it a hamster?) actually get out if the cargo doors are closed? Would make a nice cage for him!
  12. Looking at this design http://www.techlug.fr/Forum/topic8612.html I think possibilities for using driving rings in a creative way are not exhausted at all. One just wonders why the idea of one function per driving ring has never been used in an official model, especially since it enhances playability so much! Only example I can think of is 8480 B-model, the submarine, in which it works great. By the way, the model I refer to is so cool (IMO) that I feel a bit awkward using it in a topic like this. It might deserve a topic of its own on EB, but that I leave to the designer (of maybe Anio)
  13. That may be, but wouldn't the steering not still be jerky, and limited to just the extreme positions?
  14. Good question. On the other hand, how would a servo be capable of somewhat smoothly steering such a huge vehicle, and that only fully left, right or middle position? That also doesn't make much sense to me, in terms of playability...
  15. Would the servo really be for steering? Seems kinda heavy to me. Is it possible that one L motor is for steering, one for two other functions and servo for selecting between them?
  16. It's for the grabber in the B-model.
  17. For what it's worth: http://www.brickfactory.info/catalogi/index.html Go to 1982, then Europe, technic, page 7.
  18. Nice review, especially for a first one! Great pics too! Your view corresponds pretty much with my thoughts about the set. As a more "advanced builder" I would skip it, but this looks like a perfect introduction for younger builders!
  19. Don't know if this is allowed, if not, please remove. Click on the pic for a nice surprise… http://www.bol.com/n...00000021797540/ The same goes for the other numbers, of course!
  20. Check this version bij vsync: 42009 in white and blue, makes me longing voor the new cargo plane just a bit more... http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=536400
  21. I'm wondering what's inside that mini chopper, with "442 pieces"...
  22. 42009. Many functions, some of them unique, and great playability. Kept my son quiet for days!
  23. Wow, this one I would surely buy if Lego would produce it! The functions look fantastic and I would very much like to make and see them work in real life. The exterior is probably not quite conform Lego's standards, but it reminds me very much of the old days (even if it is studless). Excellent work!
  24. Thanks for your clear explanation. I understand it well, but haven't really experienced a problem in my 42009. I did notice that in full extension, one LA (I think the left one) has got some play, while the other one is pretty tight. But I don't think this small difference (seems less than 1 mm to me) leads to an imbalance in the work the LA's need to do.
