  1. Hello, thanks for following my work. Concerning the loom, I am just enthousiast of machinery and mechanical engineering (my job) but I have not learnt the principle of loom machine at school but several principle of mechanical movement has been learnt at school. So I have a kind of mechanism culture from my school. The rest is google search :)
  2. Thanks David ! Soon, I will present you my work arround my Loom Machine (automated of course), started on Setechnic : http://www.setechnic.com/Forum/post105697.html#p105697
  3. Exactly. To avoid misunderstanding, the photo you show is a prototype version of my crawler. With 2 XL motor for drive and differential steering. The final version don't use this kind of drivetrain. The reasons why are explained on my blog : http://www.nico71.fr/wheeled-snake/
  4. If wish I could ! I have only two Ball-joins, I must buy 5 unimog ^^
  5. @Splat : exactly what I want to do for the next video. @Tmir : I have used Fraps a free softawre limited at 30 second of shoot. Also, I have used the function "mapping" "trim" and "adjustement of the background" to remove the Fraps inscription and to inlay the rotating rendering of the Crawler (made in SR3D builder). Concerning the sound, I have mixed some computer noise and atmosphere noise, score of the trailer of Alien VS Predator game (the 3 black screens at the begining) and use a song that Zapac on http://dig.ccmixter.org/ has created for me. Lot of work in some ! More than the Lego creation... ^^
  6. And here is the video of the Wheeled Snake, a bit in late because of Adobe premiere, very complicated to use : And here are some pictures of the abilities of the vehicle, turning radius and clibbing angles : And a view of the underneath of the chassis, now equipped with portal axle : I hope you like the video, I have spend many hours to make it.
  7. Many thanks ! it works good, you will see on the video, when it is done... (premiere is a bit complicated to use but very powerfull). I work also on a loom machine, an automated loom which will be displayed at Fanabriques2012. I will talk you about soon. :)
  8. Hello ! I am curently working of a concept vehicule for Trial Truck field. I called that "wheeled snake" because it has a articulated body (frame) thanks to multiple 3 dof joins and has of course wheels. A XL motor drives the 3 axles with 3 differentials and the suspensions system is managed with flex hose which enables to have free rotation for steering but strained rotation for other axis. Basically, the frame "follow" the ground by crawling. Concerning the steering, I have motorized the front axle, the rear axle follows the rotation of the middle frame like a trailer. Regarding the clibing abilities, there are very good thanks to the multiple 3 Dof joins and the steering abilities are much better : turning radius is very small. It is of course possible to duplicate the rear axle to make more rear axle (4 or 5 instead of 3 axle) to have a longer "snake". I have shooted the video, I an learning at the moment adobe premiere and then I will make the video. Again, all comments are welcome.
  9. Oh ! Looks great Eric ! @Camaro : when you have build the moc, let me know with a picture :) I have forgotten : Thanks to Ansgar Mährlein, the building instructions for the pneumatic engine LPE3i are available : http://www.nico71.fr/lpe-3i-pro-building-instructions/ Also indexed on rebrickable : http://rebrickable.com/sets/nico71/pneumatic-engine-3-in-line and thanks to a user of setechnic, the bill of material of the unimog V4 are available : http://rebrickable.com/sets/nico71/trial-unimog-v4 Concering my future plan, I am working on a Mechanical Computer Multiplier with slider system, old motorbike and a prototyp of a special crawler which looks like a "wheeled snake". :)
  10. The rebrickable link is available : http://rebrickable.com/sets/nico71/trial-crawler Good Building !
  11. The building instructions are available ! You can download the HD PDF or browsing my blog : http://www.nico71.fr/trial-crawler/ The rebrickable link will be available soon !
  12. Some News ! First of all, I have written the review on my blog, not really new but in english with the pictures. The building instructions are on the way. http://www.nico71.fr/trial-crawler/ Secondly, Ansgar Mährlein, a AFOL follower of the nico71's facebook page has given me a special gift : the buildint instructions for my LPE 3 in line ! That was on my to do list for a while and I am glad that it has be done by Ansgar ! http://www.nico71.fr/lpe-3i-pro-building-instructions/ Ansgar has modelized the moc and created the building instructions with lpub4.0. It was a bit complicated to create the hose so I prefered make a layout helper with color. The moc has been indexed on rebrickable, still waiting for the approval. :)
  13. In fact I don't use the portal hub of the unimog because the distance between the wheel and the center of steering point is really to big for trial truck. Trial trucks have not differential, so I put ackermann steering to increase the steering hability but in order to increase more, the steering point should be as near as possible of the wheel. Also, it reduces conseqently the needed space to steer. :)
  14. Hello ! @David ! Many Many thanks to featured me ! I have a big lack of time to promote my creation of EB, BUT here is a small gift for you : the building instructions of the charger : http://www.nico71.fr/half-life-2-charger/ Concerning the crawler, of yes, I have thought for a while to build one, I am very satisfied by the clibbing abilities (lovely winch !) and of course the colour layout, which is new for me but nice (lovely orange !!) till then, you can watch some other pictures here at Setechnic.com : http://www.setechnic.com/Forum/topic5937.html And : Kinda big engine, hum ? :)
  15. Latest of course ! (hum, french meaning..) Thanks for the comments.
  16. And here is my last creation : Half Life 2's Dodge Charger : the jalopy ! Building Instruction is on the way...
  17. Hello, thanks for the comments ! The building instructions are available on my website as a PDF : http://www.nico71.fr/honda-cg-125-76/ Soon, I will present you my new creation : dodge charger from the video game half life 2... :)
  18. Rather that David : or : Too bad, It is impossible to make the chromed fron mudguard in lego. Also, I have ordered some other parts to build more motorbike, sounds like a V-twin.. :)
  19. Hello, My first motorbike : a Honda CG 125 with lovel chromed part bought at Chrome Block City http://www.nico71.fr/honda-cg-125-76/ :)
  20. But on the second model, you will have lot of play due to joints (maybe more than the solution with no joints but as you told : less friction). Also, the U-joint is not a CV. What I do for the big axle under load is to reduce the amount of play and Ujoin. That's why I use standard axle with 16/16. On the second solution, remove the U-join avec put an axle, then 16/16 to drive the right axle. I hope that it helps you ! I likes you creations !
  21. I see here a big problem of efficiency. The axle of the wheel is the same of the axle or the spring. Consequently, you will have repercussion of the efficiency of the drivetrain under load. You must separate the driving axle and the suspension axle, as in real model, otherwise, the model might be ineffective. :)
  22. You should try the 120° three cylinder engine with special connecting rod like scotch yoke or other. You can also modify the setting of the crankashaft with the 4 cylinders : 4*90° or 2*180°, the important point is the switching mechanism linked to the cranshaft. Here is a explanation why (a sort of begining) : http://www.nico71.fr/lpe3i/ In any cases, you engine is a good start !
  23. The building instructions are available for the Piaggio as a photo sequence. Again all is on my website, you can watch the Low definition of download the HD instructions : http://www.nico71.fr/piaggio-ape/ I have made the bill of material with the part picker of rebrickable. It took 1h for 700 parts, that is faster than making the bill with Lpub (3h for the Morgan). Because rebrickable has a better way to search and a better way to sort. For instance, "technic connector" regroup all connectors, not some like BL and the other are dispatched in pin, joiner, beam, etc. All is well classified and sorted. I have submited for the approval of Nathan so after I can paste the link :) You can watch the bill in the building instructions.
