what about my idea yes you would need to get 4 micro motors but is is quite simple to build you could this idea to make telescoping legs as well simply by having the micro motor at the end of the 2 extension then run a extension wire inside simples -

hold it there milan they also have a extra counterweight system the counter weight behind the front cab connects to the underneath of the rear ballast also they have a tilt cab and diff locks you need to include these in your model as well otherwise Jenifer's got a better crane, might it be better to scrap the pneumatics for the jacks and use 4 small actuator's you can then use four small micro motors transfer them into pf function by using short extension wires, then run axles to the end and use a worm gear system make sure you try and get as many boom extensions as you can other wise well you know......she will have a better crane ps remember the rotating becons and reversing beeper -
6X6 mobile crane
Alasdair Ryan replied to lcs's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
crane nowadays you can change what axles steer i think in normal drive the front axle turns only,(look at file below for steering) i thing the tires you got on are a bit to offroady, you have left a bit to muck space between the two back axles you will need to move the axle a bit closer together look at file below for reference look at this, it is about the size you are hoping to build http://www.terex-cranes.com/en/idc03/groups/webcontent/@web/@cra/documents/web_content/ucm03test_001327.pdf -

Three section+ crane
Alasdair Ryan replied to Pauger's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
you can have more than three sections quite easily all you need is two pieces of Lego string the same length one for extending and one for retracting you should be able to pull on each one to get it retracted or extended. The trick is to make each section as thin and small as possible so you can fit lots of smaller sections inside each other. -
I am building an excavator for my first moc, i make an mlcad designed of the excavator first and then make instructions from that to help me but as i am building it i came a cross a few problems,it is a good idea to have a basic collection of Lego, to test and change things if you are going to do it on a computer

stone sorter
Alasdair Ryan replied to Alasdair Ryan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am sorry you did not understand dluders wrote I know what Alasdair wants to do -- he wants to create some rock sieve trays to sort gravel ranging in size from 3 cm (1.18") to dust. This is called "inch and a quarter - minus" size gravel. The sieve trays are stacked on top of each other, with the largest sieve size on top. The smaller-sized rock grains fall down through the sieve to get captured on the appropriately-sized grid. The trick is to make a shaking tray that can vibrate a lot of weight to shake the gravel through the sieves. Recommend making grid sizes of 2-1/2 cm (roughly 1 inch), 1-1/2 cm (~0.6 inch), 1 cm (~0.4 inch), & 0.5 cm (~0.2 inch). Perhaps the oval-shaped #6575 Technic Cam (pictured below) could impart an up-and-down motion to a stack of sieve trays. thanks for the help i will look into your idea -

I have got a good challange for you all how are interested i need a way of sorting stones into diferant piles here is a early atemped i did not like how i had to stop it when i had to emtey the big stone or add more stones to into it. In reel life they work by vibration to sort out stones look forward to the creation that people come up with it is not going to be easy there 3cm to dust stones to be sorted http://www.bricklink.com/store.asp?p=alasdairryan -

Have you tried using beveled gears they are a bit bigger than the normal gears. http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=32270 http://www.bricklink...tem.asp?P=32269 http://www.bricklink...Item.asp?P=x403 -
Greetings. I would also like to figure out how to make some of the wheels self-steering. Hi, if you make the lorry pf functioned and you get your trailer pf functioned then you take an extension cable from the front left of truck to the back right of the trailer, and the right of lorry to the left of the trailer. Another way is to wire the truck and trailer separately this would make it with no cables between the truck and the trailer.
