  1. Yep I got the magazine today too. Very happy to the City House coming out in August! And after seeing the high res pic, I'm getting sold on the transport hub too Notice something though, under Kingdoms there are no jester or wizard impulse sets listed and neither is the farmer impulse set.... Does it mean we are not getting these impulse sets in Aus, that would be very disappointing!! Also, someone please remind me again if, when and where the Grand Emporium may pop up?
  2. For Melbournians, I rang Myer Highpoint and they have some Imperial Flagships left. Emerald Night all sold out. Melbourne CBD - all Imperial Flagships and Emerald Night goooooone since yesterday. Cheers!
  3. I actually had a dream once where I ran amok and bought every Lego sets...then I woke up (nooooooooooooooooo........) Anyway, I have finished putting the mammoth that is the Police HQ set together and it's definitely worth the money. My only complaint as usual is putting the stickers on things, I'm just not very good at lining them up. Up until now, all the policemen in my town have been hanging around the pizza corner place so they now have a place to call home - they can thank their mayor the chibi_joker (awwwww.... ).
  4. Yep, the police set is around $88 at Big W. I bought it the other night as I saw that there were only 3 sets at my local Big W and there was none at Big W Melbourne CBD. I think it's awesome value, it's huge and I can't wait to assemble it this weekend!
  5. Hi Maverick, I was there too with my friend. He said that there were several boxes of the flagship earlier in the day. I saw one box at the counter that someone must have put on lay-by, lucky! The guy at the counter said that they are getting more exclusives (I'm assuming he meant the flagship) during the school holiday and there'll be more sale. I got the Battle of Endor after much debate....and now I'm going to starve for a week I'm glad to hear the Grand Emporium is coming out in November.....now I can save up!
  6. Hi Maverick, Awesome to meet a fellow AFOL in real life and glad to hear you got what you're after The minifigs hunt is bringing out all the Melbournian AFOLs!!
  7. Hi emilyjem, I haven't read the forum in a few day, fantastic job in putting together a blog for Aussie Lego news! If you look at my posts, minifigs are being sold at Toyworld and Target in Victoria so I'm sure it's going to pop up in Target in Sydney soon On that note, I can't find in the posts again, someone mentioned Grand Emporium coming out as DJ exclusive in June? Can someone please confirm so I know when I should start haunting DJ (but not be suck in and buy more heels from them)? Because chibi_joker @ Grand Emporium...must have it, must have it, must have it.
  8. Yep, they got the emo kid/skater head in with the forestman. No big loss, but still funny. I would swap the heads around eventually anyway. 'lightningtiger', read post that your son got the minifigs including the cheerleader, awesome! Glad to see the minifigs making their way around the different states in Australia. Now to get back to my abandoned report...due tomorrow.....
  9. You can thank these awesome guys: http://bricks.inof.de/docs/minifig-barcodes/ BTW, the barcode method may not be 100% if like me, you get a headache after say 10 bags. It is very accurate but you have to be patient....not really my strong point My fav so far are the cheerleader, the forestman and the American Indian I thought I would love the ninja but I think quality is not as good as the old one, a bit disappointed. There's something strange about the emo kid's hair too
  10. Lego Quality Assurance FAIL - purchased in Melbourne, Australia. See my link, sorry quality is crappy, my camera is AWOL so I took with my iPhone - look at two forestmen side by side: Lego Quality Assurance FAIL No big deal but still funny
  11. Hi everyone, I can confirm that minifigs are now being sighted in Victoria at Toyworld and Target. Went to Target City today after work and there was me and three other AFOLs (who I did not actually know) spending half an hour sorting through the boxes with our barcodes sheets! It was fun because we were all looking for different things and helped each other out. Target was taking down the 20% off sign, but they were willing to give the 20% off. Super lucky! My friend bought an unopened box at another Target store. But I would like to share this with you. Here's Lego Quality Assurance FAIL for my forestmen, can you see what is different? Sorry quality is from iPhone, my camera is AWOL. Lego Quality Assurance FAIL!
  12. Thank you for the update lightningtiger! Geeze, I can't believe it's going to be available only from Toyworld, there's none near my house Sigh........ Oh well, in better news, I'm glad to hear about the Target sale! Got to get me some PoP sets!
  13. Lucky your friend got the DJ credit card to get that great saving hewman Thanks to everyone for the update on the prices, I didn't even bother going to Kmart and went straight to my local Target. Could not resist and got the Ostrich Race....yes I got suck in by the ostriches! I'll patiently wait to see what the prices will be for the other sets in the coming weeks. Battle of Alamut is just so beautiful and I've been amazed by all the MOCs that came out of rebuilding the parts so far. The one I least like is the Quest Against Time...but even saying that, who knows what happen when it's sale time
  14. Thank you for the review Way_Moby! I recently got a used set off eBay for a reasonable price and though I haven't got around to building it yet, I really love all the parts (raised plate, no stickers, lots of minifigs!) Unfortunately Pharaoh Hotep did not come with his original pants but kind fellow Eurobrickers have already pointed me in the direction of Bricklink so I'll be getting him the proper pants soon
  15. Wow, I'm glad I wasn't really after the Fire Brigade, my nearest TRU still doesn't have it but said they will get them in. But yeah, greedy TRU probably saw lots of AFOL coming in to ask for them and thought they can just up the price And thank you to MinifigHQ for your earlier reporting of Big W sale, finally got around to getting the Repair Truck
  16. Thanks hewman! Pharaoh Hotep can get his proper pants now Count me in on the mini-fig trading! And thank you to everyone for all the sales updates and minifig news in the last few days. Tempted to buy another set of limo and copter - $31 is great value!
  17. You are on a roll lightningtiger! I actually like this even better than the CFS truck, I have a great love for shiny red cars Awesome work!
  18. No fun sale news unfortunately but eBay find story. I got a pre-loved 5978 Sphynx Secret Surprise. I gave it a good wash over the weekend and most of it were in good condition - except that poor Pharaoh Hotep is missing his proper pants and I threw out one of the piece because it was really damaged, when I realised the seller actually gave me extra pieces from another set too! Very happy to get a raised baseplate, lots of printed pieces and fun mini-fig Hmmmm....the quest to find Pharaoh Hotep his proper pants begins!
  19. It doesn't really spoil the fun for me, I actually need to know what's coming up so I can better plan where to do my shopping! For me, it's actually fun to log on after work everyday and see all the sneak peek pics and reviews on-line, it builds up my anticipation. Also, like MrP's post before, in Australia we don't have the Lego stores so I need to rely on online reviews and info about which retailers may get a Lego exclusive (so I can go camp out their store ) If I can't really get something from a retailer, I'm going to have to go to shop@home and this is where it gets rather expensive for me, especially with the postage.
  20. Wonderful creation as always lightningtiger! I missed your post of the CFS truck so had to go back several thread, I really like how you were able to fit so many details to it Just my take, maybe you can put some plants/flowers in the left corner, just to brighten up the scene You have got a few more buildings now, are you going to update the streetview of New Mannum soon? Cheers!
  21. My reasons: - No time at the moment and I keep getting sets before they get "discontinued" because I don't want to pay massive prices for them later - e.g. there is no way I would ever be able to afford the hike up for Cafe Corner now because I only started collecting late last year......so I will make extra effort to get the Grand Emporium - Trying to work out where to put all the sets so in the meantime, better to keep them in the boxes. I only start building one residential street so far.
  22. Agree, the Wampa set costs way more than I expected! I thought it was an okay set but that price really put me off. Lucky I got my hand on Yeti's Hideout from Orient Expedition a couple of weeks ago so I got a Yeti as well
  23. This is a really fun thread I have to put a dash between the numbers 821-2 to get this: Wooden Storage Box Large (Double Latch), Empty, with Lattice http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?S=821-2 I'm a BOX?! and apparently it counts as a "set". For the record, it's on sale for $75 on BrickLink.
  24. Thanks for the link lightningtiger I had fun browsing around, they have prices for new Kingdom and Harry Potter sets (woah....$200 for Hogwarts Castle but it is HUGE and...licensed) BTW, I guess no one has spot any Prince of Persia sets in stores here yet??
  25. Wow wow wow, I don't know where to start. I love this! Svelte, you have continue to set very high standard for your MOC creations. It's absolutely beautiful and the amount of details you have gone into with all the mosaic. I really enjoy looking over all the scenes in the Arabian bazaar with the snake charmer, the monkey with the cymbals, etc. Just a question. What set is that gold statue in the pic with the cat from, or what the piece is called? I've seen it before but forgot to write down what it is (I tried looking under Mayan) and I would really like to get my hand on it for my collection? Thanks!
