  1. Amazing! I absolutely it! Okay the floors look a bit repetitive, but hey, that's how these kind of buildings look like. BTW, I do believe that's an escalator you can see through the streetlevel windows on the left, continuing to the first and (maybe even) the second floor. Indeed... I still need to buy the Fire Brigade as well, and I'm saving up for the Imperial Flagship (or at least try to )
  2. My cousin had this set. I was so jealous, until I got 6085, The Black Monarchs Castle, which was even cooler because it was black and the towers were round !
  3. Nice work! Very realistic bike stands and "pay-terminal" Shame yellow Lego bikes are very rare , otherwise the MOC could even be more realistic
  4. I bought this set about a month ago and I love it! My girlfriend loved this set as soon as we saw it at S@H, so no objections as to me buying it The village is outstanding, no doubt about it, but it would be even beter if TLC added a well, you know the ones with a little slate roof anyway, you can always built one yourself
  5. Belgian S@H says January 29... On the other hand, it gives me more time to save money , still don't have room to display it though Ok, I admit it, I desire it
  6. Romans for me! I imagine a legionaire camp or a watchtower set will be a great supply of brown log bricks (i.e. Wild West)
  7. Just replying to some of the arguments put forward in this topic. European design: as a kid, I never wondered "where" the building might have come from. They all looked very "Lego" to me About the simplicity/minimalistic: imho classic town sets capture the design of real-life buildings very well, even the 4-studs cars can sometimes capture a "real" vehicle. So, saying that these sets are "too simple to inspire a building" is a bit too easy to say. I think it's quite a challenge to capture the essence of a building without adding too much architectural details. This also means alot of opportunity for creativity, yet I voted for the minimalistic design .
  8. When we were visiting Chicago in September we went to a Cubs game (I believe against the Milwaukee Brewers) and they won. Everybody was telling us how lucky we were to see the Cubs win a game Anyway, for those of you that know Belgian comics, the origin of my nick is obvious. I'm an great fan of the 9th art and I wanted a name that was a blend of Lego and comics, hence Brick & Mortimer instead of Blake & Mortimer. For everybody else: Blake & Mortimer is a comics serie drawn by Edgard P. Jacobs in the Belgian ligne claire-style("clear line", like Tin Tin). The series are a mix of adventure, espionage, detective and science fiction featuring two heroes and one vilain (the perfect mix for boys and men alike )
  9. I'll go for Café Corner. It was my first Modular Building, and I really enjoyed working on the hotel sign, the pavement and was amazed by the technique to build the corner . I agree that GG has the best interior, and I love it as wel (the shop with it's floor and refrigerated shelves etc... ), but CC has a sentimental meaning and cooler building techniques . The nice thing about MS is that you can separate the two baseplates en combine the "vegetable corner" with the GG. I also like the color scheme with the tan and navy blue. I'm still saving to buy the Fire Brigade
  10. Cool bus! I can already hear it heave and puff as it stops or starts Btw, I like how you captured the statue of Manneke Pis in your town (link n° 2). I recognised it immediatly! Have you been to Belgium, or did you use pictures? For those of you that don't know Manneke Pis: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Manneke_Pis
  11. Thanks! In Belgium it's Saint Nicolas who brings the toys, and I always wanted him to bring me the Airport Shuttle, but my mom said it was too expensive, even for Saint Nic . I did get the Black Seas Barracuda though It is, she never played with Lego and has a lot of catching up to do
  12. Damn you TLC! I was saving money for other sets and now I HAVE to buy this one as well... and I don't even have the room to display it...
  13. I agree. I bought the Winter Toy Shop as a X-mas gift to myself and persuaded my girlfriend to buy me the calendar to create a nice winter scene. If only Christmas would come sooner
  14. Hi everybody, I'm Hans from Belgium. My dark ages started around 1995/96 when I was 13 or 14 and discovered other things beside Lego like computergames, girls, going out, drinking beer etc... They ended in december 2008 when me and my girlfriend visited an exhibition celebrating 50 years of Lego in the Toy Museum in Mechelen (http://www.speelgoedmuseum.be/). My girlfriend never played with Lego because her mother thought it was a boy's toy, so I was showing her around eagerly. I pointed out the amazing things you could build with Lego like an cool cornerhouse with a tower and a building with bay windows and a fire escape! In the gift shop I decided to buy the Golden Anniversary Set (http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=5522-1). When I checked lego.com a couple of days later I saw the very same cornerhouse and the building with the fire escape and my dark ages were over. I'm more a town/city fan, even when I was younger. I own my share of castle and pirates sets but I soon switched to town and (9V-)trains. I still got all my old sets, all broken down in boxes in my parents attic. My girlfriend and I live in a very small apartement, so no room for a lot of Lego. That's why, right now, I'm more a collector than a MOC-er. I collect all the Modular Buildings (I still have to get the Fire Brigade though) and some of the other exclusives like Town Plan and MMV which I build together with my girlfriend. I try not to buy/collect too much however because another thing to take into account is our hyper active cat-like-pet-creature running about in our small apartement. So I'm kindo forced to move my sets to higher ground (hence the title of the topic greetings from "top-of-wardrobe-" and "top-of-bookshelves-town" ). If I had all the money in the world... ...I would buy the 6399 Airport Shuttle MISB. Until then I might do an odd review about the classic town sets in my parents attic when I find the time to rebuilt them . Cheers
