  1. Ik wens de familie en vrienden van Dieter veel sterkte toe. Mijn oprechte deelneming, Hans My sincere condolences to the family and friends of Dieter. He was a fellow-countryman and one of the first persons to wish me welcome to these boards. My thoughts are with you and your family, Zorro
  2. I think that sums it up quite well. As a subtheme, Farm had one year to "proof" itself, and now it's already "Hard-to-get". It's a pity TLC won't give Farm a break , I mean, look at all the ideas in this thread!
  3. I don't mean to bump an old topic, but I'm afraid I might have the answer to the future of the farm sub-theme. I used to think that the categories "Exclusive" and "Hard-to-find" on Lego S@H were largely interchangeable. So, my point: Following themes are mentioned in the Hard-to-find category -Belville, -Pirates and -Farm There you have it, Belville and Pirates will be discontinued, so likely there won't be any new Farm sets My apologies in advance if I'm the only one who didn't knew this already and I'm stating the obvious... Reason for edit: deleting pointless sentence
  4. Suppose all your Lego is destroyed... You have enough money to buy every single set/brick back, even at current prices... Would you do/buy it all again?... *I worked and paid for every set I bought since I came out of my dark ages, so except for maybe one set, I would buy them all again. I mean, all the modulars, the town plan... Who would want to give up on those?! *I basicly bought none of my pre dark age-sets myself. They were gifts from Saint Nicolas, birthdays etc... I guess I would streamline my old collection and keep out some sets. The money I would save might just be enough to buy the One set that's missing from my "old" collection: So, to summarize the summary of the summary:
  5. How long did it took you to built this? That building is insane , in the most positive meaning of the word off course . They don't know what they're missing, amazing MOC!
  6. Another one in the category oriental wisdom: If a man is talking in a forest, and there are no women around to hear him, is he still wrong?
  7. Looks like the Eiffel Tower is quake-proof as well . I'm glad you and your family are fine and no one was badly hurt.
  8. Q: Why do ducks have flippers on their feet? A: To stamp out little fires. Q: Why do elephants have big round flat feet? A: To stamp out burning ducks
  9. Very nice MOC! Impressive building couldn't agree more!
  10. Thanks for this outstanding review You just gotta love this little set! It was the centerpiece of my beach set up I never realized this set contained so many rare parts, I guess I didn't care about that when I was a kid
  11. My girlfriend (she's 23) never played with Lego as a kid, because her mother considered Lego a toy for boys . It was only when I got out of my dark age that she became interested in Lego.
  12. My initial favourite was the forestman, but now that I actually have them all, my vote goes to the magician! The main reason is that this fig comes with a hairpiece as well. With the hair it's the ultimate villain
  13. A friend of mine recomended Redcoat; The British Soldier in the Age of Horse and Musket by Richard Holmes. He was so kind to lend me his copy and I finished it in less than a week, and it's I recommend it to all you Pirate fans and history buffs . It's set the "age of brown bess" from roughly 1700 till the Indian mutiny of 1857. The book covers everything from tactics and weapons, through everyday life and even the "camp followers" . The book is built around (and spiced with) personal diary accounts of individual soldiers of the age. This book is a a must-read!
  14. Went to a different toy store than usual and to my surprise they had the Collectible Minifigs Series 2! Didn't have the barcode sheet with me, so after a careful (and time-consuming ) examination of small, medium and fat black bars in a random order I managed to get the complete series 2 ! The salesgirl was so helpful (she quietly let me choose from the box at the closed cash register). She deserves a raise! I !!! I might get a few extra of him (Picture courtesy of brickset.com)
  15. Nice find Klaus Dieter! Sounds promising ! My thought exactly! Lego isn't pokemon, if I knew what I was buying I would have bought them as well. Now I had to use the barcode sheet/cheat but only to get a complete collection. I just like to collect them all, and than buy a few extra of the really cool figs (Disco Stu ) I just hope Series 3 has a loophole as well ...
  16. Woohoo! Bought for only € 19,95! It's been a while, but it feels good to buy a new set Also bought the entire Collectibel Minigigs Series 1 thanks to the barcode sheet/cheat (picture courtesy of Brickset)
  17. My thought exactly! It's a nice collection of vehicles, but not a "set"... I'm still wondering if I'll buy this one, the tram is tempting though
  18. Maybe Lego didn't have enough money to get their drivers new uniforms after updating their fleet
  19. Imperial Flagship finally arrived I had it shipped to my parents place for two reasons 1) I lack the space to display it in our tiny appartement; 2) to annoy my parents. They don't like me spending alot of money on Lego and instead would rather see me save money to buy a house (a real one that is, not made from plastic bricks ) Only drawback is that the flagship will stay in it's box for another month. Me and my girlfriend build all our sets together, and she's studying for her exams , and since the set is at my parents place it's not easy to pop over for a couple of hours of building when she should be studying. Ah well, her final exam is on wednesday June 16, so hopefully we'll be able to build it the following weekend
  20. Wow, nice update of an all time classic! I love how you kept the old minifig
  21. Oh my! I wish I had the time and space just to reassemble my old sets, let alone display my entire town... Ah the memories , It could almost be my town... The fire control center, the airport, the metro park & service tower Instead of being a town, right now they're just a bunch of bricks in an attic Seeing old and modern sets combined, it did convince me not to buy the modern airplanes though, they're about as big as the entire runway of the international jetport
  22. You see, they don't put these warnings on the boxes/instructions just for fun
  23. Nice and elegant MOC! A real clever way to expand your modular street without taking up additional space Same here
  24. # 1: Town (including modulars & Trains) I know, it's easy that way , but I really couldn't rank any of these themes # 2: Pirates I just ordered Imperial Flagship! # 3: (Classic) Castle My last set (not counting MMV) dates from 1993 and I'm not so fond of the fantasy inspired Castle theme, but the new sets look promising to me
  25. Same here My girlfriend and I always build our sets together, so I have two schedules to take into account, altough I always try to start building a.s.a.p. but it's usually a weekend.
