REVIEW: 8683 Minifig series 1 -, minifig #11 The Nurse
Brick & Mortimer replied to Holodoc's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I noticed it too. It's added realism; even in your LEGO town the medical staff is overworked and undermanned Yet she still keeps on smiling, I bet she loves her work! -
*Added to wish list* Wow, what a truck... Really the smooth design of the cab! the cute lttle LEGO sets Doesn't matter if it's a bit too large for my old road plates, and 30 EUR isn't too outrageous for an exclusive/hard-to-find set that big. a worthy succesor of and (pictures courtesy of Brickset)

Currently reading The Name of the Rose I only saw the movie and it was on my "to-read-list" for a long time. I'm halfway through, and I must say I really like it, and to the guys who adapted it to a moviescript without losing essential storylines and yet not cutting out too much

Lego sales in Belgium up 18% in 2009
Brick & Mortimer replied to Brick & Mortimer's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Same here , I started with CC in January 2009 Looks like we two contributed to a fair share of that 18% increase More than Mattel!?? Eat this Barbie! BTW, another happy Birthday to you! -
Good news when I was reading my morning newspaper on my way to work: In 2009 Lego sales went up 18% in Belgium, says CEO Jørgen Vig Knudstorp Woohoo! According to the same article, Lego is the largest toysupplier* in Flanders. I have absolutely no idea what they mean by that... Marketshare? That would be amazing *To all dutch speaking Eurobrickers, it literally says speelgoedleverancier, whatever it may mean Online source (dutch only)

Happy birthday to you Zorro! Enjoy your presents! (Lego no doubt )

When we were rebuilding Black Seas Barracuda, we spent hours trying to find one red flag to complete the gunports... Eventually, we gave it a rest That's why I don't like fishing either

Oh my, that poor window washer! 15 floors is a bit over the top

Lego discovery in the digital age
Brick & Mortimer replied to David Thomsen's topic in General LEGO Discussion
It's true that the online community "spoils" the surprise, but that doesn't bother me. Like some already said, as a kid I watched the Lego catalogues over and over, deciding which sets I wanted for my birthday, Saint Nicolas and Christmas. To me today, a forum like Eurobricks is like a catalogue including reviews, which helps me to decide what I want. OK, anxiously awaiting the release of a new exclusive set like Grand Emporium (since October 2009) can be a bit frustrating. On the other hand, the exclusives are not available in shops in Belgium, so I still have to wait until it arrives in the mail But even then, unpacking it, holding the box, admiring the pictures, opening it... Nothing can take away that exciting feeling -
I can't really remember my first castle set, but thanks to brickset I managed to track down my oldest castle sets (all from 1984): the Supply Wagon , the Catapult and the Blacksmith Shop The first castle set I remember wanting very badly was Black Monarch's Castle And indeed, on December 6 1988, Saint Nicolas brought me this set (You might have guessed it already: all pictures courtesy of brickset.com)

Why do people buy new sets and never open them?
Brick & Mortimer replied to Ambo100's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Lack of space rather than lack of time. My entire pre-dark age Lego collection is in my parents attic. The town I used to have on display as a kid now only exists in my head, but I buy new sets with that city in mind. I decided to collect the Farm subtheme, because I know (think) these sets will look great combined with my 6379 Riding Stable and 6355 Derby Trotter. As a consequence, the Farm sets I buy now, will move to my parents attic MISB and stay there together with my "old" collection untill I find the space to rebuild everything in one large display Same here. Last friday (April 2) I bought 10197 Fire Brigade, but I had to wait untill Easter monday before me and my girlfriend found the time to take on this beauty. I couldn't resist opening the set on Friday, just to peek at the instructions . Man, my girlfriend was not entirely pleased when she found out on monday that the box had already been opened -
Hehe, funny website With "&" spelt out Brick and Mortimer generates this: Brick Mermaid Torn (together with 62.500 other results )

Pay day came, Pay day went. Fire Brigade bought, Fire Brigade built. (Picture courtesy of Brickset.com)

I try to save up to buy the sets I want, once or twice a year. I've been saving (in chronological order ) for the Fire Brigade, Imperial Flagship and now Grand Emporium. I mean, Lego kept adding wonderful sets to my wish list (or is it the other way around ) My estimate is that I will (finally) be able to buy these sets by the end of april. This way, I will be finally "up to date" with the release of the modulars, so hopefully, next year I wont have to spend that much. Off course, if I find a set on sale I really want I'll go for it. I mean, if you find City Corner for 36 euro, you're not going to skip on it. I believe the price on S@H is about 50 euro

I would go for the first option: It has a more "town-look" to it.

My setnumber is the Technic Bungee Blaster Cool! Backwards it's not so cool (Pictures courtesy of brickset)

Exclusives: Medieval Market Village Non-exclusives: City Corner I know I know, yet another pointless post agreeing with all the previous ones

AFOLs contribute a little under 5% of LEGO sales
Brick & Mortimer replied to Rick's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Early December, around St. Nicolasday there was a news item on the Belgian tv channel VTM stating that 10% of the adult males* "plays" with Lego. I don't know on which sources they based this information, probably TLG although I'm not sure. So I guess 5% is a little on the low side considering the fact AFOLs "usually" buy more expensive sets. *Sorry to all the female AFOLs, it's just what the news report said -
Wow, impressive! I really hope this will be built! It really captures the look of Chicago... the river, the lakefront, the highway,... The bridge over the river mouth looks beter than the real one The skyscraper next to the river mouth should be designed as the Lake Point Tower

Thanks for the nice review ! If I would buy this set, it would be for the limo. All my airplanes are early 90's (International Jetport, The cargo plane) so I guess the helicopter will look a little out of proportion .
-
I believe there's already a thread (and poll) about this (albeit without GE). I have all the modulars except FB and GE I'm sure GE will be an amazing set (I'm buying 2 ), but my favorite modular will always be Café Corner. Why CC? It was the set that ended my dark age, I was amazed when building it, the details, the structure, the building techniques , after that the other modulars didn't quite amaze me "that" much. Apart from that, it was the first set I built together with my girlfriend, so I have really fond memories of this set

Your Modular Collection 28 Days Later
Brick & Mortimer replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Town
I display/add to my lay-out most of my sets. For now, my modulars have priority over my other sets on display. I have little room to display all the sets I bought since I came out of my dark age, my City Corner is still MISB because of that... On the dresser there's CC, Part 1 of MS, Cinema from Town Plan, GG + Part 2 of MS arranged around a small "town square". On top of my bookshelf are the town hall and service station from Town Plan As soon as I get FB en GE (2 copys probably) I'll dismantle the town hall and service station from Town Plan to make room for them* After that, I don't know, maybe destroy the cinema from town plan when Lego releases a new modular. *Don't ask me where I'll display the Imperial Flagship -
Loved the review ! Now I'm defenitely buying two of those beauties

Now I've seen all the sets together I'm convinced; I'm going to try to collect the farm sub-theme. Just have to find a way to tell this to my girlfriend Damn you TLC for doing such a great job
