  1. Hmm, I think I may consider converting my buildings so they're one brick higher. Sounds like a good idea. Beautiful work!
  2. Simply beautiful work! I love the lines on the building, the window detailing, and the clock on the front.
  3. Basically, yeah. The tiles are sitting on the long ends of the 1/2 pins. The angled hold is actually very secure.
  4. The tiles are held on by 2 technic 1/2 pins each. The remainder of the SNOT here is done with a couple brackets and a single headlight brick on each side.
  5. Actually, if you'll look here: There is no gap. If you like I can take a blowup pic to show how I did the angle.
  6. Nice set, I'm definitely gonna get a few of these for the classic space jacket, the shoulder bag, and the 1x1 brick with stud on one side in light bley. That one is a new part this year.
  7. I haven't built any interior yet, but here's an interior pic of the real thing: Candy in front, popcorn and payment in back.
  8. No interior yet. I will start working that out soon.
  9. Hey folks, here's something I've been tooling around with for a couple months... an 8-wide CC Popcorn Shop! It's based very loosely on the Wheaton Popcorn shop, which is basically a door and a roof on an alleyway: I went there all the time as a kid. Let me know what you think!
  10. This building is fantastic! The roof, the lighting, all very cool. Are you planning on bringing it to the next NILTC meeting? I'd love to see it in person.
  11. Good point! These guys will blend in great in a LEGO forest.
  12. I can't wait to get this set! Looks fantastic. I love the green, and I think I can definitely find a humorous use for these guys on a train layout. What about "The Mask"? Could be interesting.
  13. Fantastic job! I can't wait to see the rest of the town. I love the phone in the bar. The time bugs me though... If it's 10:21pm in the bar, then the kid outside is up way past his bedtime. If it's 10:21am, those people are drinking a bit early...
  14. Lovely work! Though I'd love to see a Christmas tree where that owl is.
  15. Done! I spent way too much of my weekend on this, but it's finished. Check the first post for updated pictures.
  16. Nothing especially rare about it... just three of these combined with normal flower stems.
  17. Thank you for the blog feature! A couple corrections, though... I used "Plate, Modified 1 x 2 with Door Rail" and "Plate, Modified 1 x 8 with Door Rail" to hold the window panes, not 1x2 grill tiles. Also, the windows are 1x4x6 panes, not 1x4x5. The use of light bley instead of dark bley for the sidewalk is entirely due to my limited parts supply. I have a ton of light bley 2x2 tiles, but no dark bley whatsoever. I will likely be changing this after the new year when I can afford a bricklink order.
  18. Thank you, everyone, for the wonderful comments! I'm already working on a few changes to the exterior: All the black columns next to the windows have been changed to white. I'm adding a lot more detailing under the roof arches. It just feels too plain to me after thinking about it. It'll take me some time to figure out what I'm doing here. I will likely change the door and set it back into the building a little bit. I may add a little more height below the ground floor windows. Probably only 1 or 2 plates. The lack of frames on the ground floor windows was kind of the whole point. I originally wanted to do sliding doors for the entrance, much like the sliding doors on the veranda of my green house, but the geometry just doesn't work out here. The 1x4x6 panels, the whole reason for the ground floor, fit perfectly 3 panes to 11 studs. In order to fit the sliding doors, either the building would need to be 2 studs wider, as my sliding door design fits incredibly well in a 6 stud opening, or I'd have to remove some glass. The only other option is to make the tile brickwork on the sides only 1 stud wide each instead of 2 studs wide each, and I just don't have the supply of small tiles for that. I will consider adding another floor, or at the very least adding some height to the second floor. EDIT: I finished my changes... I'll upload updated pics later after I give myself some time to make sure I don't want to change anything else. Likely tomorrow. Unless you guys would rather I wait until the interior is finished, too?
  19. Also, what the heck is "nocuity"?
  20. Looking at the closeup photos, a few of those designs are stolen directly from LEGO. I'll bet many of the part designs are still patented by LEGO. "Enlighten" has been doing this kind of stuff for a while now: Personally, I wouldn't touch it with someone else's 10 foot pole.
  21. I agree with Zorba on the biggest, but I believe the smallest in volume may be this.
  22. Great tutorial! I've been using Flickr for a couple years now. I love my Pro account. I would recommend that any Windows users try the "Flickr Uploadr" program that Flickr provides. You can use it to do all your uploading and add titles, descriptions, tags, and sets all at once.
  23. Yes, I do plan to make an interior. I just hadn't decided yet exactly what kind of store it is yet. The black and white was a conscious design choice. I'm planning on the highly visible interior providing all the color it needs. I may add some more white on the exterior, though. Thanks. I'm leaning towards a furniture store... I just need to start designing some furniture!
  24. Shown below is my newest CC style building, a department store. It was inspired by a new window design I came up with, using 1x4x6 glass panes and door rail plates. Assembly done mostly in one afternoon. No interior furnishings yet, as I haven't decided how I will furnish it. Enjoy! EDIT: Finished! I've done a few redesigns and furnished the interior! Not bad for a few days work, I think. As usual, larger pictures are available on My Flickr.
