  1. Alright, now it's finished. I came up with a corner roof design that I actually like for this, incorporating a window at the same height as the other dormers. Enjoy!
  2. The modular buildings are what brought me out of my dark ages. I've been going a bit crazy trying to build as many of them as I can. But like others have said, the scaling, detail, and polish of Cafe Corner and the like just make classic town look a bit flat and sprawling. My current layout is entirely CC-compatible for the sake of consistency. EDIT: And I think if you're going for the wow factor, Modular is great for impressing visitors!
  3. Actually, I never really liked the tower myself. I had put it there to fill the space, had a ton of trouble getting the angle right, and never felt comfortable with the sizing of it no matter how I reworked it. So I'll likely keep the rounded bit, it's just a matter of figuring out how I want to cap it off.
  4. I've gotten a few comments on the weirdness of the tower, so I'm making an attempt at a rounded corner for the roof.
  5. Upstairs is currently empty. The mother and son on the balcony will be moving their furniture in soon. Hahaha... I can't wait to see it! Please don't break anything.
  6. Oh, the guy to the left of the cash register? He's a customer. He's getting condiments for his pizza. Done. Yeah, I actually disassembled my GG for the express purpose of building a corner shop. I'll try to make sure they don't grab too much of Al's business. I wouldn't want your goons to come after poor old Luigi!
  7. Thanks for the feature!
  8. Thanks. I know the tower and its roof are a little large. I'll be fixing that.
  9. Welcome, one and all, to the hottest pizza shop around, Luigi's Pizzeria! The second floor houses an apartment. This mother and son just moved in! Watch out for the lunchtime rush! This pizza place gets very crowded. (Looks like Luke should have left a little earlier) This gentleman was in such a rush to beat the lunchtime crowds, he forgot to get dressed! The pizza oven opens, and can hold up to 4 pies. Thanks for visiting! As usual, larger pictures are available on my flickr. EDIT: I've changed the corner of the roof slightly, updated pics here.
  10. Nicely done! I like the color scheme... A while back I tried to do a building with lime green and medium blue myself, but I ended up scrapping it.
  11. CC = Cafe Corner.
  12. Thank you. I may build interiors for my houses eventually, but I have no big desire to do so at the moment.
  13. This is fantastic work! The colors, the snot work, everything just goes together very well.
  14. While cleaning today, I came up with a new bay window design, and I've used it as an excuse to finish something I've been working on for a while now: a yellow CC-style house! Here's the bay window: The first floor windows are inspired by the 4996 Creator Beach House: And here's the full view: For the sake of completeness, here's an updated shot of the houses on my LEGO street:
  15. It's already quite easy to read. The numbers and hands are all very shiny. The pictures don't capture the shine very well.
  16. Just a little update: I picked up a shelf to put the clock on today. The shelf is a bit wider than the clock base, so I made a quick little picnic scene to go alongside. (No, this isn't my girlfriend and I either)
  17. Believe me, I considered that. I'm a purist at heart. It just looks so good with the clock numbers. :-) We almost put 1,2,4,5,7,8,10, and 11 on there, but I think it works well without them.
  18. Thanks. The garden was designed by my girlfriend. Sorry, no alarm. The timepiece I used is very basic. Oh, and here's a detail shot of the backside for you guys:
  19. Thanks! The whole structure kinda just flowed together as we built. We had the idea of just doing a regular looking clock, but then thought, "Well why not add a roof?" and went from there. No backside picture yet, but I'll make sure to take one when I have a chance. Thanks for the front-page! Nope, not us... just a couple. We're not farmers. I agree, PF would make it very cool. Maybe some day I'll make a full grandfather clock and incorporate that. Who knew? Apparently I did.
  20. Hey everyone! This afternoon, my girlfriend and I picked up a clock making kit and built a LEGO clock in the shape of a house! It is fully functional. We will be displaying it on a shelf in the living room. Enjoy the view! The color scheme and shape was a joint effort from the two of us. Let me know what you think.
  21. Yup. The long antennae have knobs at the top. As for the shorter antennae, those dishes are just balanced on top.
  22. I was playing around with my minifig parts and came up with this little scene. Note the hat plume blood and the vest from the Harry Potter troll. I was going for a Clint Eastwood look with the gunslinger... an aged "Man With No Name". Let me know what you think! P.S. I'm considering remaking it as a scene from Stephen King's The Gunslinger at some point... maybe Roland versus some slow mutants. The green faces and hands from the TS Army Men set should do nicely I think.
  23. Hey everyone! I made a vignette last night to commemorate one of my favorite Radiohead songs, "Like Spinning Plates". While you make pretty speeches I'm being cut to shreds You feed me to the lions A delicate balance And this just feels like spinning plates I'm living in cloud cuckoo land And this just feels like spinning plates Our bodies floating down the muddy river I hope you like it! EDIT: Here's the vig from another angle:
  24. Very nice Comic store! I love the color scheme, and the guy on crutches out front is very cool.
  25. Good luck in your endeavors! My first three CC buildings were townhouses. I still haven't tackled any corner buildings yet, but I will likely do that next. My best advice is to start out by looking at real world buildings. It's really easy to build a box, and hard to make something that has enough detail to seem like a real building. I went through a million revisions on my first CC house before I ended on something I liked. Being satisfied with your own creation is the most important part.
