  1. It seems that everything is based on assumptions.......maybe we should all ask a ten year what he or she would like ? Now back on topic, does anyone find it odd that the bike shop has a tiled upstairs floor but all bare studs down stairs.....or could it be that the tiling might have been done only for the show ?
  2. Delightful front stair case to the porch 'DrLegostar'.....keep going and Brick On !
  3. Another excellent modification 'Missing Brick', I wonder what's next ? Brick On at the movies 'Missing Brick' !
  4. Maybe we should have a poll who's for a new service station, or perhaps a town contest - design a new service station.......I feel that us EB'ers have a better pulse on the Lego world across the board than their designers do. The only requirement for them is a Uni degree in industrial design (thanks to that Nat Geo doco), no requirement for knowledge of geography which includes real town planning which I was taught back in high school. Seriously, Pekko's Cuusoo project is our best hope for the future of Lego City.......maybe Lego needs to design a Gym for all those coffee drinking, pizza eating minifigs eh ? Now that we know the gas station and only half of the bike shop is gone......what's making it have such a high parts count and has Lego overdone it one way (bike shop) and just enough the other (pizza bar) ?
  5. Such card-lock or pay-at-pump only service stations or known in Denmark as Tankstations are very common....as too police and fire stations ! Like we have had fire sets in 2010, 2012 and 2013....police sets in 2011, 2012 and of course 2013 so why not another service station/garage thing eh ? You buy a motorcycle from the new bike shop it does need fuel doesn't it ? Like would you go thought the trouble of cutting up stickers, including a minifig behind a counter which is hard to see anyway plus some props inside the shop if this wasn't real or at least a prototype to feel the waters so to speak.....judging the reactions of people to the particular design ?
  6. I really like that boat 'castor-troy', but that pub looks a little incomplete or is it just me ? Keep going and Brick On 'castor-troy' !
  7. You are not the only one who thinks that this could be a smoke screen or a test to see if a new service station is needed in the Lego City line up. I wonder how they decide the themes and sub-themes each year eh ? (maybe slips of paper on a dart board and throw darts at it )
  8. Question everyone.......someone our on ANZFOL suggested I list this on it's own in Cuusoo to gain supports of it's own......what does everyone think ?
  9. Very nice layout 'danielnzlego'.....make sure you leave room for the upcoming Town Centre set.....at least you are like me and own a 7993 service station....no new one this year. Keep going and Brick On !
  10. So there is no new gas station.....then what in the world is making up 914 parts ? Well, I guess some reverse engineering might be involved and then I'll build my own......and we all know the tiger can do that ! Edit - the 2x4 curved slope in green is also the fuel saver spoiler on the upcoming cargo truck.
  11. You're right 'Wedge09' and thanks for your suggestions.....perhaps I could do a row of small buildings similar to the post office eh ?
  12. Don't they always end up with such details ? If the bike shop is actually only half size then where is the row of studs free for the end side wall ? (must be heavily modified then eh ?) Plus would that mean more parts for other things to go in the town centre ? Now also there are fixtures and a minifig inside the gas station......if this was just make the display look prettier thing it would be a modular like the others behind it......and just as empty too ? Edit - Going over some more images from LEGO World 2013 I noticed that the blue SUV on top of 4207 has a license plate sticker....need to find a better picture of that vehicle.
  13. Thanks for the review 'Plate', I own one of these sets now and I was also impressed by the fire burning feature....going to be very handy for my display at a model train show. The front of the truck reminds me of the greatest fire fighting vehicle in TV history.....Squad 51. Well, I did say it reminds me.....it's not directly the same is it ? What I found odd was the mounting locations for the tools at the back of the cab.....perfect against zombie attack eh ?
  14. Impressive....turning a mod'ed set into a MOC.......and it reminds me of the main fire station in the Adelaide CBD.....can't wait to see more 'rriggs'.....Brick On !
  15. Ah, Dodge......nothing like the old fashion car/truck brands eh ? Three pick up's now......I have an idea a car/pick up truck dealer how does that sound.......suggestions again either here or in the Canada Post office topic thanks.
  16. I have decided that it's frontage will be similar to that of the post office but most likely wider to take the cake display, coffee machine, counter with till altogether. Keep watching early next week for the Tim Horton's show !
  17. LOL......I was wondering if a FORD fan would pop up ! You know after the Tim Horton's......I guess both a GM and Ford could be built then a police car chasing them drag racing to see who has the better pick up ? Oh, yeah quick edit here.....I've included an image of this on Cuusoo under Farmer's Hardware Store.....link as follows...http://lego.cuusoo.c...deas/view/13998 It joins the Landmark and Elders pictured there too.
  18. AWESOME work and story telling too 'greg3'.......I love the pancake race ! What are you going to do when 60026 is released ? Plus for your gas station, how about an Octan take on an older Shell/Exxon design from the 1980's ?
  19. Ah, but there are still some things up in the air......like where is a car to go with the gas station ?
  20. Yep, that's the dark red car for sure.....actually setup my tow truck with my dark red car to try and catch the light reflections off the back of the car.....like I wrote last night - common problem with digital cameras and bright lights......like industrial arc discharge lighting like the type used in these venues. Well that's one question answered. Still leaves even more unanswered.
  21. Oh, the name sounds good.....a GM eh ? Like one of these.....what does everyone think...should I build one of these ?
  22. Very true, but MOC wouldn't be the word......prototype I would use instead. I'm surprised that our member has been the only person in the world to upload images from the display......strange. Edit - I have doing some part counting from that display...... Say the crane and statue......approx. 200 pieces Next the pizza bar..................approx. 100 pieces Then the bus.........................approx. 150 pieces Bike Shop, allow for...............approx. 200 pieces Little street sweeper..............approx. 30 pieces Gas Station...........................approx. 200 pieces Misc street lighting & signs....approx. 20 pieces That comes to....................................900 pieces.......listed part count is 914. Hence the Gas Station could be part of this due to the high use of large plates and window/window frames being used.
  23. Very true he has seen it.....oh, that dark red building with the patch work of light grey bricks....yeah different shade altogether....but really this is scooting off into off-topic stuff. Lets work with what we know and can see. Edit - ah, the red car at 4207....yes, yes....must have been a prototype....interesting word that is prototype....like things can change. Edit 2 - now after some reading on something call Purple Fringing and even deeper again I discovered that will some digital camera's - white balance problems can cause reds to appear purple.....only problem there is there is more than one red-ish car in the shot....though at a different position from the overhead lighting which also could be causing this effect.
  24. Perhaps I should have wrote it's out front of the police station and the red car which comes from the 2011 police chase set is on the corner not 10cm from the car being towed. If colour is being effected then the orange on the tow truck would be as well and it isn't.....have a little faith in the tiger - colour is one of my specialities being a TV tech. Edit - on the suspect car the colour is even across the back but in 60017 it's not the spoiler is black and has that 1x2 grille tile sitting up front at the back of the driver.....dark red and black will not give off the same colour hue....it's not possible.
  25. I looked real close at that car and there is a red one around the corner from it....looks purple to me.....actually I compare my car from 60017 which is dark red plus the car pictured seem to have studs showing for tail lights not slope 30's. Edit - that blue vehicle doesn't use a single 4x8 roof piece, but 2 of the old fashioned 4x4 roof pieces supported by some 1x4 dark bluey grey plates.
