I would imagine the new molds will be produce only when is strictly needed for the set. At least for now, that is. If LEGO Ideas continues to grow like this, I assume they'll eventually get a bigger budget

It's hard to pin point a specific project that was rejected because of that particular reason, because they never clarify why each project was rejected But I guess more than one project was rejected because they couldn't accurately reproduce licensed characters in LEGO form without new molds.

A similar piece does exist But I tried it and it didn't look quite right for the Monster Vampire

After today's leak revealed the Sesame St set will have 5/6 new molds, I imagine a lot of rejected projects will be submitted now that everyone knows about TLG (secretly) changing the rules

Best LEGO Ideas set yet?!!! Love all the characters! There are 6 new molds in total. Wow.... they went big with this one If Count von Count was included, this would be the perfect set!

Tonight is the night! My biggest project yet (and probably my biggest ever) The countdown to the scariest night of the year begins here! In this series, we'll see a spooky minifigure every night, during the whole month for a grand total of 31 characters! *evil laughs* This is a selection of regular minifgures but all horror themed to celebrate Halloween! The group pic, leaflet, bag and new pieces will posted after the last minfigure. First of all, I'm surprised they actually use the word "Christmas" here... They usually avoid it by using "Winter", "Holiday", etc... According to Itaria, the 2021 line-up goes as follows January - Looney Tunes May - Series 21 September - ??? New CMF (a license never done before as CMFs) I wonder....

This new development gives me hope that Series 21 will have indeed the regular 16 characters Thanks to @Itaria No Shintaku for the confirmation

Oh no no no.... for a CMF series? Tweety has to be a new mold piece (at least). For $5, anything less than that would be a travesty He could also be its own minifigure but it would very weird next to Grandma and Sylvester
