Here is an interesting news story today about "10 Incredible LEGO Machines That Really Work" -- "In our opinion, LEGO is the greatest toy ever made. If you have the skills, you can turn simple LEGO bricks into just about anything you can imagine. As a kid, I used LEGO pieces to make other toys. As an adult, all I want LEGO to do is open beers for me and file my taxes. I've got the first part nailed down, but I'm still working on second." The videos are too numerous to link here, but the story makes one appreciate the VERSATILITY of Lego Technic (a key component of these MOCs). Here are two of them in the list of 10: * Star Wars LEGO organ * LEGO Gears of War Lancer assault rifle * LEGO pancake robot: * LEGO 3-D milling machine * LEGO Sandcrawler * LEGO Orrery * LEGO Super 8 projector * LEGO beer machine: * LEGO television * The world's most useless LEGO machine

You're right -- the 4-wide version looks more realistic than the 3-wide version in the Architecture set: -

On this Rebrickable.com webpage, Technicmad (Nathan Thom) has this "pie chart" showing the Lego Technic parts Color Distribution: -
vYKo1000/ Teuk posted this YouTube video of his Lego Technic MOC -- a small Breakdown tow truck. It features steering, tilt of the truck bed, extension and rotation of the crane, and a hoist. He refined his MOC to create the version shown below. More info appears on this SeTechnic webpage (in French and in this English translation).

Although I don't own one myself, one can get the new #630 Brick Separator from Shop.Lego.com . It is listed as Part 630-3 on Bricklink. The older 630-1 Brick Separator is shown in green below: -
Lego Cuusoo
DLuders replied to Crtlego's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
[bUMP] On his Technic Delicatessen website, Parda has nine fabulous Lego Technic MOCs that he is highlighting: "Lego Technic Projects in CUUSOO that you must support" -- "I already do, and I want you to do too! Here are the most interesting projects involving Lego Technic in Cuusoo site, and as a Technic fans we should support it and reach the first AFOLT ( Adult Fan Of Lego Technic) designed set in production!!" Go to that website to click on the Lego Cuusoo links; the pictures are reprinted below. -
Leg0steen posted this of his LEGO Technic Concept Car. It has caster-wheel steering that swivel to get into tight parking spots. "A creation I wanted to make a very long time. But designing good axles was a bit of a problem. Now I'm finished. The axles still aren't very strong, but it's possible to drive with this car." He may have been inspired by Nathanael Kuipers' Lego Technic JEEP HURRICANE (which also has 4-wheel steering).

@ Nico71: C'est magnifique! It is good to utilize the Unimog U400's pieces for the 3 Degrees of Freedom (DoF) displayed in your "Wheeled Snake". -
Why no gearbox in current sets?

More complex gearbox --> more cost --> fewer sales --> less profit for TLG. -

Well, on the official website, there is a "Trademark Information" hyperlink at the bottom of that page which reads: "ED, EDD N EDDY and all related characters and elements are trademarks of and © Cartoon Network." Note the "Copyright" symbol. On that webpage, there is a "Contact Us" button. Ask for permission to use their trademarked property in your Lego minifig head-type application. The Lego Group is very lenient about AFOLs creating their own Lego minifig elements, but they DO NOT use other company's property without a license (such as they did for Star Wars, Toy Story, Cars, and other similar sets). -

@ Makuta: You may want to contact the owners to the rights of the Ed, Edd, & Eddy characters first, before you make an unlicensed copy of the character(s). Copyright laws may be invoked. There is a link to the official website at the bottom of this Wikipedia webpage. -
WIP: City Section 7
DLuders replied to alienwar9's topic in Digital LEGO: Tools, Techniques, and Projects
@ alienwar9: Have you considered attending the Brick World 2012 convention, and bringing your computer to show off your Chicago-styled cityscapes? There is a "Brickworld Film Festival" where you could possibly connect your computer to the projector, and "fly" over your cityscape LIVE. I'm sure many AFOLs would enjoy seeing it. Not everything has to be displayed in REAL BRICKS -- virtual bricks are fine too! -
lego technic harvester
DLuders replied to Alasdair Ryan's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Sure, Building Instructions are always welcome. Maybe when the rumored Power Functions LARGE motor gets released in Aug 2012 (with the 9398 4x4 Crawler set), there may be more power provided in a lightweight motor casing to be able to lift the Technic Harvester's main boom if the pneumatics are switched to Linear Actuators.... -
There are some nice functions on this experimental, studded chassis. I like how the RED hot pistons are visible in the clear engine block. The small wheels look a bit odd, though. The video did not show the pendular suspension provided by the two large Technic Turntables -- how does it drive over rough terrain?
