  1. This Swiss store has posted its price for the upcoming (Aug 2012) Lego Technic 9398 4x4 Crawler set -- 249.00 Swiss Francs (equivalent to 207.28 Euros or 273.43 U.S. Dollars. There are no pictures of the box yet.
  2. I like the nimble "Paddlewheel" effect of the Lego Exo-force wheels:
  3. There is this 32555 "Technic, Brick 5 x 5 Right Angle (1 x 4 - 1 x 4)":
  4. From Mahjqa's Flickr photostream: "Trackikoma -- 10.000 supporters, and Lego will consider making this a set. If you havent' voted yet, please do so here: Tachikoma page on Cuusoo. You can see the video . Please get the word out. Post it on Facebook. Tell your LUG. Bug your friends."Mahjqa also wrote, "Update of the walking cycle -- To those who've built the Tachikoma, I've tinkered a bit with the walking cycle, and this setting seems to do a bit better than the one in the instructions. So have fun with this one." [Click on the photo below to enlarge] "If you have built a Tachikoma and want to be kept up-to-date with other modifications or improvements, let me know." See the Flickr video to see the improved walking cycle.
  5. @ MarkV: Welcome to Eurobricks! You should try buying needed parts from Bricklink.com -- it's "The Unofficial Lego Marketplace" where you can buy from vendors (large and small) worldwide. look at the Help webpage to see how it works. To learn all about Lego Power Functions, I recommend reviewing the "Frequently Asked Questions" and answers on the official Powerfunctions website. The 8110 Unimog U400 set should still be available into Summer 2013 (since "flagship" Lego Technic sets like it are available for about 2 years on Shop.Lego.com ). The 9397 Logging Truck should be available until the end of 2013. Buying the NEEDED parts from Bricklink.com may be better than buying $140-$200 sets.
  6. Here's an interesting solution for a "Give 'em a (Working) Hand" prosthetic made from Lego Technic elements:
  7. @ AlexC: Are you wanting to build something like Bill Ward's Four-Track Signal Gantry, except with LED lights in the signal faces?
  8. @ AlexC: Welcome to Eurobricks! Have you seen this LEGO 7867 12v Train Light Post Set Parts instructions page? Is this the type of light you want?
  9. ISOGAWA Yoshihito posted this of a celever Lego Technic "Motor Head" figure. If it ran backwards, it could be doing the "Moon Walk"! Pictures appear on his LEGOstudio website.
  10. Sure, it would be nice to have a re-release of the 32298 "Black Tire Technic Power Puller" mounted on a 22969 "Wheel 62mm D. x 46mm Technic Racing Large". According to the Bricklink set inventories, the WHEELS appeared in both the 8466 4x4 Off-Roader and the 8457 Power Puller sets; the only difference in the TIRES is the "Technic Power" sidewall markings for the Power Puller (Part 32298pb01): The apparent lack of these parts on the upcoming (2H2012) 9398 4x4 Crawler set is a "lost opportunity."
  11. @ 88high: It looks nice! The angle of the windshield (windscreen) could be lowered if you have two black 32015 "Technic, Axle and Pin Connector Angled #5 - 112.5 degrees" parts (pictured below). You are using #4 Technic Connectors (forming a 135-degree angle), and they don't look suitable for a Supercar....
  12. NXTPrograms.com has this interesting webpage that outlines Touch Sensors being used with Lego Power Functions.
  13. In the USA and Canada, the term "Bean Counting" means that accountants are worrying about a company's profits ("beans" instead of Dollars).
  14. Yesterday, I flew my shortened Lego Technic "Death Star Booster" rocket on an Estes C6-5 motor. I used four 6247 1x11 Technic Links to move the weight downwards. The total number of Lego parts is now 28. The displays what I wanted it to do -- tumble back to earth softly. The "Center of Gravity" is now close to the "Center of Pressure":
  15. @ Tacker: As stated on this Lego Technic Wikipedia article, "Although studless beams (studs are the bumps traditionally associated with Lego parts) have been present in Technic sets for many years, the change from primarily studded to primarily studless construction represented a major paradigm shift and has been quite controversial. "The primary advantage of studless construction is the addition of new construction methods that were previously unavailable. The new studless beams are exactly 1 width unit in height, in contrast to studded beams, which are a non-integer multiple of one unit. It can be awkward to use studded beams in vertical structures because it is necessary to insert plates between the studded beams in order to get the holes to line up. Studless beams allow greater flexibility when building in multiple dimensions, while remaining compatible with "classic" studded beams. Some builders also believe that models constructed with studless beams look nicer than their studded counterparts. "However, studless construction also introduces disadvantages. Studless construction is not immediately intuitive, requiring the builder to think five or six steps ahead. While studded construction follows the classic bottom-to-top building pattern, studless construction requires building inside-to-outside. "As of 2005, Lego has begun to re-incorporate studded bricks back into the Technic line, which can be seen in sets such as 8421 (found on Peeron), The Mobile Crane."
  16. [bUMP] As shown recently on The Lego Car Blog, here is a Lego Technic Rosenbauer Panther 8x8 Crashtender firetruck with HRET (High Reach Extendable Turret). Made by hypoXXL/ Hypo, it is VERY DETAILED. The shows it in action, and many more pictures are on Hypo's Brickshelf gallery.
  17. @ Technic Gearhead: See this Eurobricks topic for Benny3000's studless Lego Technic Air Tech Claw Rig (with photo-sequence Building Instructions):
  18. I'm going to build your model (with the various attachments) this afternoon:
  19. @ Alasdair Ryan: Your Lego Technic Mini Track Loader is a good representation of the real, stand-behind equipment that one can rent: Are you going to post some larger pictures on your "Alasdair's Technic Creations" website?
  20. @ dikkie klijn: I fixed the hyperlink to your website in my post above.
  21. Thanks for sharing the Building Instructions for the Lego Technic iPad stand! I like your DikkieKlign website too: http://www.dirkklijn.com/ .
  22. Shapeways is a 3-dimensional printing service. It is explained here.
  23. Yes, I could launch it into the air, but it would probably come down as a "Lawn Dart" like the Top Gear rocket did! Thanks for sharing Brickstarrunner's LDD file -- I had not seen it before. If I were to build it in real bricks and attempt to launch it, I was thinking about using two 57792 "Vehicle, Tipper Drum 3 x 6 x 10 Cement Mixer Half with 4 Technic Pin Holes" parts to act as an Estes D "motor mount". The interior is just about the right diameter for a D12-5 motor. The tricky part is that the Reliant "shuttle" and the real Space Shuttle have theirs own thruster rockets, to keep the rocket from tilting in the direction of the extra weight. Most likely, the Lego rocket would end up being a "Sky Writer":
  24. Yes, the commentary for the pictures below says that the measurements are in millimeters.
