I like an urban/downtown setting; I'm already 2/4 on the Exclusive Modulars and I can't imagine them even having a patch of green in front. That said, I probably will try to get enough money anyway to cover up the studs with 2x2 plates when I do get roadplates, so I guess it doesn't matter for me. I'd probably go for any set that gives me 2x straight/T/Curve/Intersection though :P

Hey not bad! In fact I would have preferred it if the actual set came out looking like this.

Is that a 10-wide? O.O The back looks especially nice. It's detailed enough, but the size is CREATOR territory. It dwarfs the CITY Truck in the same pics. Windshield could also be angled down (but that's a bit hard)

The height of that thing is just immense! Looking forward to that skyscraper... I'll definitely keep up with this (I'm a huge (real) skyscraper fan)

LDD/DesignByMe is certainly exorbitant, but somewhere down the road I'd like to get one set (i.e. A small CITY car model) and get all the custom box and instructions and all that. What should cost me about $16 in online PaB is around double in DesignByMe, but what the heck.

I like this one a lot. It looks very classy. That's a load of dark tan right there. What pieces are those above the revolving door? (the big white curvy things)

So here in the USA, Cafe Corner is back in stock, under "Hard to Find" (same as GG and FB) So, false alarm? A mistake? They seriously need to stop playing with my feelings.

" Sorry, item is not available in this country: United States." I just bought a copy two weeks ago, too... I dodged a major, MAJOR bullet here. Too bad since I wanted to buy another copy, but still, better than nothing... I have the instructions, and I just want a 2nd floor extension, or I can draw the 2nd floor in LDD and order parts on Bricklink or something.

Anybody mention World of Warcraft yet? It can basically have Castle-like theming elements, as well as Wild West and haunted themes for buildings. Also, they have siege engines and demolishers, which are basically tanks.

Apologies for the bamp, but I just got my first 2 PaB cups! Not by me, personally (unfortunately.) The nearest paB wall where I live is about 6 1/2 hours drive away. But my dad went to Anaheim on a business trip, so I asked him to pack a cup (he got two, thanks hehehe) with nothing but grey and black basic bricks with clear filler. Now, he's rather busy so I didn't ask him to stack the bricks or do some techniques in this thread, but I did ask him to use the trans-clear as a filler. He just filled it normally, and I say he did rather good: The loot: Cup 1: 1x3 light grey x 215 1x1 dark grey x 160 1x1 trans-clear plate x 283 1x1 round trans-clear plate (stowaways) x 5 Cup 2: 1x2 black x 219 1x4 black x 75 1x1 trans-clear plate x 313 1x1 round trans-clear plate (stowaways) x 9 2x2 black roof x 26 total = 663 + 642 = 1305. Yeah, variety is a bit weak, but since he doesn't really know what specific special pieces I want, I just asked him to get pieces I know I'll use and will be handy for Town MOC: grey and black pieces for buildings. I'd rather have few types of pieces that I will want to use than have a bunch of different pieces and not do what to do with half of them. As for my 600 1x1 trans pieces, let's just say I have a few ideas loot for cup 1. Don't have the pic for cup 2, but it's the same story. I stacked the bricks, and had about 15% more space that if I went there myself and stacked them I could have gotten almost 800 in one cup. Ah well, still unbeatable value...

Since I'm 7xxx, I was hoping for a cool CITY set. Instead I got: http://www.brickset.com/detail/?Set=7798-1 I am a Stegosaurus, hear me rawr.

I don't mind the 6-wide car. Feels like a Crown Victoria/Caprice - now those cars are huge.
-
Almost a mirrored Green Grocer first floor front, and I think it works well. Also, proof that yellow and grey will work on the next big modular!

I'm hoping for an upscale department store myself, or anything... upscale, really! Since it's (maybe) a yellow building, maybe it's a LEGO Store! Talk about a twist...

Hmm, it's close. 1x1 pieces are almost 'fluid' that they can fit and conform to the cup's shape (relatively speaking), but as you said, with more bigger, square-ish/rectangular pieces (and disregarding 1x1 fillers) then the box may have some advantage.

I wish this was still available

I disagree. Just look at Manhattan with their white and grey concrete and art-deco skyscrapers mixed with bright yellow taxi cabs and bright blue/white cop cars on the streets, and sometimes maybe the occasional six-figure red/yellow supercar cruising around.

Wow, that is just awesome! I think I like your idea of a 24-wide house and I just might steal it! :skull: I do think 16-wide is just a bit too narrow (and 32 too big), yours is just nice enough that the interior looks like an actual scale house (and the furnishings and tiles help a lot too!)

Woo-hoo! Exclusive Modular money-sinks live on! A big corner store, huh? Sounds nice. Not sure I can picture the colors, but we'll see. Let's see if I'd rather wait out 5 months to get this set over Fire Brigade.

I click the thread and was expecting a Mercedes-Benz AMG coupe But pfft for that much money I wouldn't complain about the price at all.

Basically, most Lego CITY vehicle sets are very much compatible with the Exclusive Modulars. Coupled with the fact that TRU had a discount sale a few weeks ago I snatched around a few CITY vehicles---Cement Mixer Truck, Recycle truck, Police Cars, Minifig Collection, bbq stand, even City Corner (the bus and the bust stop is just about perfect for modulars)... I think they all make a great supporting cast.

LDD is flat out ridiculous. You'd probably spend 30% less by picking out the parts manually from online PaB, and even less when you buy from unofficial sources like Bricklink, Ebay.

Having built GG and just finished CC, I'd say half of my building time goes into the first floor, and the other half for the top two floors of both GG and CC, but that's because of the tilework. I really don't time myself either, and I watch TV, take breaks pretty often, do something else (my LDD Truck *coughshamelessplugcough*), and Cafe Corner took me about 3 days to finish, building it little by little throughout the 3 days.

I 'm probably not going to end up buying the new big sets. -For me, why get the Fire Station when I can get Fire Brigade? -Airport building is too small for me now, considering how the airplanes literally doubled in size since the classic-style Century Skyway (although at least the Terminal is better looking than the last CITY Airport.) I would probably buy multiple airports if that was the only problem, but to build a real believable airport I'm going to need a much bigger infrastructure, and I don't want to devote too much of my money for a large Airport infrastructure (includes gates, taxi and runway). -same with boats, I have no plans for port infrastructure on my town just yet. I will likely buy the rest of the new sets though (except maybe other airport related sets); I love that Tanker, nice upgrade for my 4-wide Octan tanker.

Ah, thanks for the comments! Now that I look at it, the wheels do seem small. The trailer connector, if I were to actually build this, is just a placeholder. I have those balljoints that actual LEGO trucks use and I think that would be better and less clunkier than what I have with this truck right now. I've done that too, and this truck costs me around $40 with me picking out the parts from PAB. But then, I have to consider the fact that I have enough black and red basic bricks and plates (this truck uses alot of those) so it can even be cheaper. Based on the comments though, looks like the 5571-style scheme is a winner. Thanks again!
