  1. Lego says: It's great to hear you like the LEGO® Research Institute set 21110. A lot of other builders like it to and the response to this new set was overwhelming. I'm upset I didn't even get a chance to purchase one. It’s a very popular set and we’ve had a lot more orders than we expected. We don’t have any in stock at the moment, and we’re working hard to make more. However, inventory being made is already allocated to the backorders in our system. As of today, Jonathan, we don't expect to receive additional inventory for sale which is why the status is 'Sold out'. bummer, no? I agree. I don't normally get into the whole Lego/Gender thing. And, I have a daughter who is happy to spend time building with us. it's all about Family Time, really. That said, I would like to see more of this set and/or more like it.
  2. There are some pretty sweet ideas here. Now - to open it or not to open it? :)
  3. I'm really hoping it's not a once-and-done deal. *sigh*
  4. I suspect many of you are like me and purchased an extra Fire Brigade just because they were available for soooo long. Has anyone built an alternate model using just the parts from the Fire Brigade? I think that could be a fun little contest. I keep thinking it might made a decent school, library, or even re-purposed-into-apartments building. Any thoughts?
  5. I'd like to see the details of the stairs.
  6. I've really enjoyed seeing these. I had several ideas, but family/work commitments have prevented me from entering the contest. But, keep up the good work, All. Some great stuff!
  7. Frankly, I hate the stickers. I realize the costs savings of stickers, the constraints Lego needs to work in regarding profit, etc. - but I always dread the stickers. Whether it's a set for me, or for the kids, I'd just much prefer printed parts. Granted, I have early town minifigures that have stickered torsos. And I have stickered parts from when I was a kid. They've held up "okay", but to my eye, the printed pieces just give everything a much more "finished" look. Yeah, I realize it's "just a toy" and all that, but still. Anywhoo - I'm excited about the set, and I can't say that a sticker-vs-printed piece will give much pause when it comes time to lay down the cash.
  8. Sadly, the LL929 looks like a sticker to me. But, the classic space logo on the blue slopes does look printed.
  9. This is simply great! I like them all - and the stories to go along - very clever!
  10. Actually, wasn't there a link somewhere showing this model broken down into sub assemblies?
  11. Reminds me of the old Testor's F-19 Stealth Fighter. Most of you are probably too young to remember what a splash it was! More here: http://www.aircraftresourcecenter.com/rh/articles.php?id=6679 and here: http://www.fantastic-plastic.com/TESTORS%20F-19%20STEALTH%20PAGE.htm
  12. Wow! That is very well done. I love the details!
  13. At our TRU, there is always the TRU Tax - you know x% markup....
  14. Well done!
  15. Very, very cool! What is the saying, "People who live in glass houses...shouldn't cast stones."
  16. Merry Christmas!
  17. Looks cool. I like the brake light. =)
  18. That's going to look very nice once you're finished. One question, which you may have answered earlier, do you get a file or something that you can use for your bricklink orders, or did you have to figure out all the pieces you'd need yourself?
  19. Agreed, and it's largely the same at our house. Daughter loves the farm series, anything with animals, and would love to have both a vet (pet doctor) and "regular" hospital staffed with doctors and nurses. Lego seems to get stuck trying make "dolls" (i.e. the Belville line) for girls. In our house, just having more civilian / animal themed stuff for the growing Lego city would be ideal....
  20. That was the very first thing I thought, too. Very nice job, however. Excellent technique.
  21. I just don't think today's boxes will ever have the same appeal, or value, as the "classic" boxes that showed multiple alternative models, etc.
  22. Pity da'fool!
