  1. As a Liverpool supporter, I feel the same way. Should have seen the look my Dad gave me when he saw me with it. The paper has its own section on this Wikipedia page and is still a foul word in that city.
  2. Ah, I was looking in the wrong forum! I was wondering why nobody seemed interested.
  3. Heard this second-hand last night and I see it on their website now (just barely - a small front-page ad half-way down). Seems to be a voucher thing similar to the Daily Mirror promotions, except that the stuff is claimed through WHSmith or Toys'R'Us. Neither of which chains operates in the Republic, so I don't know if I'll be able to get them. The models include an X-wing and a Pharoah's Quest car driven by Jake. Dunno why it was moved from the Mirror to the Sun. I mean, the Mirror was bad enough....
  4. I loved the way the thing at the back would lift the dustbin up. You had to align the bin perfectly, though, or the handles would jam.
  5. Just an extremely late heads-up to anybody interested in Character Building's Dr. Who series (see Peppermint_M's review of one of the sets here), the Daily Mirror are doing a Lego-style free giveaway at the moment. It started today, Saturday, but I'm only just home now. If you ask nicely they might still have some of the Dr. Who minifigures left. Sunday is a yellow Dalek and Monday is Amy Pond. After that it's posters and whatnot.
  6. Interesting, though like everybody else (it seems) this isn't a theme I plan to invest in. Maybe the small set with just McQueen but that's it. And how dare you say it's better than Speed Racer Is Francesco's nose piece new?
  7. I'm not talking about collectors, though. I'm talking about "kids." The reason they're not doing exactly the same one is the collectors.
  8. Not with all those lovely orcs it's not. One is even exclusive. Frankly, nothing can be equal to Shave a Sheep. Not even Shave a Sheep. That's actually worse than Shave a Sheep. But yeah, aside from the microfigures, Draida does look the most underwhelming.
  9. Well, we did get a diver in Series 1. And he was far and away the least popular. Personally I think the volume of repeats we have been seeing is down to TLG trying to make up for the botched distribution of Series 1. People who didn't have clowns and skater boys before will now be able to get some.
  10. There are some zombies in the Pirates of the Caribbean sets. They're voodoo zombies rather than virus zombies but they'll probably do alright for creating variety.
  11. I only army the Zombie and the Werewolf, and to a lesser extent the Space Villain. Are there really more Forestman armiers than Zombie fans? I gave the Spartan a skip because I figured I'd wait and go for the Elf. Then I saw how obnoxiously popular and expensive the Spartan turned out to be and knew that the Elf would be exactly the same, so I saved myself the trouble and decided to army less popular, more common guys. The Werewolves actually look nice sprinkled in with the Zombies. If the Vampire had been less traditional (i.e. less aristocratic and solitary) I'd have armied him, too.
  12. I kinda like seeing the actual characters playing the game on the boxart, rather than the usual awesome-but-devastatingly-nonexistant ones. The yellow barbarian dude comes in all four sets, I see. Useful for table quizzes, I suppose.
  13. Another +1 for ZCerberus, thanks for the freebie!!
  14. I find the hat is easier for the sailor. It's just a clear, simple, distinct shape that for whatever reason has been easily separated in every bag I've felt.
  15. I've come across two different bump codes for the Hazmat Guy. I'd heard of inconsistencies in Series 3 but never really believed them, but now I'm going to ignore dot codes completely and wave the white flag at TLG.
  16. Almost forgot to +1 vaders_son, cheers!
  17. Oddly enough, the werewolf is easily the most common guys I've found. Which is good, because I plan to army him. I think he looks good beside my zombie horde.
  18. It says it was a LEGO clover so probably something like this. Also, it was two weeks ago.
  19. I gotta agree with Clone O'Patra, that car looks like cutting-edge Lego design from 1987. The only pro for me is that it comes with Plankton but that's not enough by a long way. Glove World is slightly more attractive but still very basic and empty, with not enough elements to get excited about.
  20. So... everybody else sees the AK-47 too, right? Because, seeing as it's April 1st, I could have handled a regular Hello Kitty theme with enough pink to shatter my daily sugar intake, but this manages to slip over my surreality limit.
  21. I'd hate to see the charge for an enemy! The hype isn't necessarily down to a hoarding instinct. With any "rarest" thing, there's a sligh panic edge that's constantly telling someone that they might not get one. It makes people go for the rarest as a priority, even if they just want one. I'm not interested in the Fisherman either but I was quite relieved when he tumbled out of the first pack I opened.
  22. You mean there actually IS a Dr. Farnsworth? Good news, everybody!
  23. Series 4 has landed locally so I've updated with the guys I didn't get. I got ten different ones out of the sixteen packs I bought, and two of the spares were Werewolves which I'm planning to army, so not that bad. And I added a link in my sig.
  24. Spare video game shelf. Series 4 isn't available locally but there's plenty of room.
