  1. I'm going to play devil's advocate and say that LEGO should have the attitude of "If you don't like it, don't buy it. It's our toy and we will do what we want". This subject has been beatin to death and growing rather tiresome to see pop up in the forum discussions of the AFOL community.the sooner people just accept that LEGO is a toy and nothing more, this discussion will end. The only thing a LEGO product teaches children is tactile hand eye skills, not gender equality. Parents teach that plain and simple. The only reason LEGO shows a particular gender playing with a specific line in their marketing campaigns, is due to research. That research is generated from placing multiple toys in front of children and watching what they gravitate towards. A child that has never been reared to focus on a particular gender ased toy, will play with anything. So parents are ultimately responsible for what their children play with. I see no pictures of children on a LEGO box, only the product. The girl thinks it's a boy's toy because she has been raised to believe that. So stop blaming LEGO and start taking a good hard look in the mirror. As for AFOL's that want a more gender equal distribution of female to male minifigs, or gender neutral figures that can double as both in off the shelf sets. I will just be brutally honest and say get over yourself. The joy of LEGO is you can tear it down and make it whatever you want. You want a gender neutral army of people in your MOC? Make your own from all your parts. You want more female torsos to throw in your city? Go to Bricklink and buy some. Quit taking all of the fun out of the hobby with discussions like this one and go back to the times when LEGO was just a toy to have fun with.
  2. I got a Chima magazine foil bag of the Mother Tooth Worriz figure. It came with a second unpainted wolf helmet piece.
  3. Mega Bloks is better than LEGO. Seriously.
  4. I also use Basebrick. It has some good filtering options that I find very useful.
  5. They have a website, legokidsfest.com, that has all the information on events and activities available. We have one coming to St Louis in March that the family is going to attend.
  6. I don't know what your funds are like but you can buy an inexpensive light box set up that will give you pretty professional looking photos. Just Google "photo light box" and you can get a good idea of what's out there. Light boxes diffuse the light on you object and even crappy cameras shoot good pictures. As far as bulbs go, I believe most photographers use "daylight" bulbs, as they give the whitest look.
  7. Got the Fire Temple, Mammoth Stomper, Ice Fortress, and the Chima minifigure pack today. Lots to build.
  8. Got Fluminox's Speedorz set.
  9. I don't spend a lot of time organizing parts or creating MOCs, but I find myself constantly re organizing my collection to make room for new stuff. I guess I just need to make a collection room and call it a day.
  10. Gorzan's poly is at TRU online. Never seen it in stores.
  11. Today I got the Fire Lion and the free Worriz Bike. Spent a $100 and got the free space fig also.
  12. Bought Eris' Speedorz set and Vardy's Vulture Glider.
  13. Query...are we only referring to city figures or across all lines of LEGO? If you direct this question at some of the other lines such as pirates, castle, ninja or Ninjago and Chima, how does one distinguish between male and female without feminine features like the hip shading or lipstick and eye lashes? Customizing becomes very simple, but now there are no female minifigs in those lines. The hips, boobs and make up, help to fully represent a female character. I welcome the added features and think this is the best way to give us female characters.
  14. I got one of the magazine foil packed Worriz figures recently and received 2 heads in the pack, one printed and one unprinted. Cool thing but probably completely worthless.
  15. As much as I hate to tell the Lego insiders that they were wrong, I never understood why they thought TLG would not release these in one of their biggest markets. Pretty sure we'll see them in August.
  16. Bought Spylin's Cavern today at the LEGO store. Can't wait to get home and build it.
  17. Got mine today at the St Louis, MO Lego store. I bought it on my lunch break. Haven't been able to open it yet, but it is my first Ideas set and the packaging looks great.
  18. The last 2 cups I bought I just shoved it full of 2 x 4's. Both times light bluish gray. The first one had 162. The next one I got 165. Considering they cost twice as much as my less than 10 cents a brick, I'm thoroughly satisfied.
  19. Removable heads on big figs allows for so many more possibilities. Me likey.
  20. There is a seller in the US on Bricklink.com that has 2000 of them for $.18 a piece for tan. That works out to about $360 not including shipping.
  21. I do something similair. I buy comic book bags and boards and store them in a box just like comics. The only booklets that don't fit are from the larger sets. I just leave them in their original sleeve with the cardboard and store them in the same comic box, just on the side. Works very well and very cheap. 1 box will hold instructions from about 200 - 300 sets and only cost 10 cents for a bag n board and about $8 for the box. Go to any local comic shop and ask the clerk.
  22. I'm still waiting on my Croc Tank from the pilot Chima episode with Crominus and Crunket when they fell into the gorge.
  23. The 2 dark tan wedge plates on the sides sit too far back because there are 2 tan cheese slopes missing from the front. The tan cheese slope piece can be seen in step 5 on page 35 and step 4 of 37 for the other. Also when adding the sides, as seen in step 16 and 17 on pages 39 and 40, make sure you are utilizing only the center three connections. Essentionally those 3 studs should plug into the 3 center connections on the parts you built in 16 and 17. If you did in fact add those tan cheese slopes, it is hard to tell since you photographed a top view, then just move back the 2 side pieces built on 16 and 17 one stud and your top piece completing the lion head should plug right on. Those reddish brown cheese slopes should sit behind the dark tan plates, not even with them. If you still cant figure it out, send me a personal message through here with your email in it and I will send back photos of how it should look. I cant upload from my phone, at least I don't know how.
  24. I see where your problem is. Go to page 33 in your instruction booklet. If you are using downloaded instructions just find that page in the pdf. You have the top piece assembled correctly that have the 2 red hinge plates, its the side of the head that is wrong. This may take a couple posts cause i'm on my phone but i will do my best.
  25. I'm at work now, but I don't remember having any problem putting this set together. If someone answers the question and rememdies the problem before me, great. Otherwise I will get you some pictures of mine when I get home in 12 hours. Don't pull your hair out yet. We can help.
