  1. Nice idea, i used to play that game a lot. Your buildings really resemble their settlers counterparts. Will you be building a mine too?
  2. I was referring to the collectible minifig.
  3. Relax, these are preliminary pics of the first wave, surely much is to come. For instance, i can't see a single mounted knight for the dragon knights. They are not called the "dragon footsoldiers". It would also be quite surprising if they didn't release a classic jousting set with two mounted knights (like 7009, 383-1, 6095-1, 6095-1). Ok, no more speculations for me. Next year I'll be getting a new fresh wave of knights and, lets not forget, a Robin Hood, well done TLG.
  4. These new sets looks fantastic. There is a green wizard, no crappy gigantic siege machines that makes no sense, and i love the green-brown-black color scheme of the dragon knights. The red and white (danish?) one is not as nice but at least it will be a new fraction in my tiny plastic army. So, after just seeing a couple of prelim pics, I'll be setting aside 100 euro for Lego this year (for myself of course, i have no kids). I'll be looking forward to seeing some pictures of the final sets.
  5. It is not too late, on Pick a brick on-line you can get a white skeleton with the happy skeleton head for 0.57 EUR. And they have black spears, axes and lances. I bought a bunch of these and use the red-eye skellies from the sets as officers.
  6. Quality issues aside, I have a few opinions on the contents of the sets. I recently bought the dwarf battlepack and like it, you get a nice assortment of dwarf accessories. I replaced the viking torsos with plain ones and got two vikings :) The troll one is however a sad sight due to lack of variation. Why oh why must all trolls (except two unique figs from the biggest troll set) have the same face? In this BP there are three torsos of the same kind as the majority of the trolls from the sets. Why not toss in a "Space troll" torso to spice it up a little (Space Police 3 Alien - Slizer). I have seven trolls, all from sets, and buying this BP would give me several duplicates of the ones i already have. Why two copies of troll warrior no3, which is already appearing in eight sets, with up to three of them in each? Adding a silly little rat just adds to the rodent-infestation problem of the current fantasy line. I would much rather have gotten a dog or a torch or something. I will definitely not buy the troll BP, spending 10 euro on a bunch of very common parts and two capes.
  7. Just plain me - casting a spell or two :)
  8. Indeed, it looks like we'll get a giant sqid and a guy with a octopus-mask in the same set. I foresee an abundance of Cthulhu MOCs in 2010.
  9. Really nice MOC. I did the same thing with my wizards crystal ball, there is a pic of it in the "post your army" thread. I did, however, add a 1kOhm resistor and used two AA batteries instead. The light has been on for weeks and show no signs of fading. It's 1$ solutions like these that really makes me wonder why Lego charges 17 euros for two little LEDs and a battery box.
  10. An interesting point was made in the beginning of the thread, that the really early space was an offshoot from lego city. Lego city is the most realistic of the themes, it's a model of your average industrialised city. A toy that let the kids play with elements from the real world. The first space sets were releasd in an era when people actually went to the moon, the last manned Apollo mission was in 1972. When lego space started, it was not a science-fiction theme. Now, the last moonlandings being 37 years ago, a 7-8 year old today hears about them from their grandparents, Space travel has become history. The only major space-project today is the InternationalSpace Station, but making a lego set of it makes no sense since very few kids would understand what the scientists there are doing. Having said that i think that the question of whether the older or younger sets are the better is simply a matter of whether you like space exploration or science-fiction. A similar shift has taken place in the castle theme where history is gradually being replaced by fiction.
  11. I'm a helicopter that squirts water. Some kind of vaguely futuristic firefighter i suppose.
  12. This is my Castle guys hanging out on a shelf. 55 of them not counting the animals, once their 34 friends arrive from PAB they will be arranged in fractions. As you can see i like the humans and undead the most, the dwarves are quite cute too but I'm passing on the orcs, just got two of them. I simply refuse to buy any siege equipment that looks like a monstertruck (like the horrible dwarven lawnmower 7040) and that rules out most of the dwarf and orc armybuilders. Eventually this army will be joined by whatever is left of my early 80s collection. Here's my wizard, my favourite character. I felt he needed a bit of magic glow so I installed a small green LED in his crystal ball. Ever seen longhorn skeleton cavalry before?
  13. Thanks everybody, I will post my little plastic army here once I figure out how to take decent pics. Spelling is right but the grammar...
  14. I knew i just had to have that cute little lego wizard when i saw him at the store. Well, all the other ones were kind of neat as well and now i am set to once again rebuild the medieval/fantasy legoworld i used to play with as a kid. Starting out by recruiting a 100 minifig strong army to populate it... My project for the fall is to dig up my old yellow castle from my parents attic and restore it to its former glory, if possible - i know how many tough battles it went through in the mid 80s.
