That is a really nice temple. Very nice proportions. I would love to see it fully equipped with surrounding terrain and minifigs.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
NorthernKnight replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
BL prices will probably depend on how rare they are and how much people like them. The "duds" will no doubt be very cheap. I for one like the crash test dummy which seems to be one of those that few people like. I hope to buy a lot of them really cheap to be able to build a moc called "Car crash town" -
I have three different goblins (troblins?) and a war chariot in my Brickshelf folder. None of them are official models.

That is a really nice trorc tower. It looks way more secure than the official one. The horns in red sockets on the sides is a particularly nice detail.

That wizard is fantastic, and comes with great accessories. - I`ll take four of those please.

What are some way to make use of 2x width bricks?
NorthernKnight replied to ziljin's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Filler, terrain, walls in big buildings... They are useful for building anything big. -
LEGO Collectable Minifigures General Discussion
NorthernKnight replied to Nabii's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Yes, it wouldn't be too hard to figure out which is the witch ;) But seriously I hope TLG don't make some rarer than others, at least not too much. I'd hate to spend 50 euro or so on 20-25 bags just to find myself with an army of divers just because some smart toystore owner or employee has already picked out all those sweet sweet Hoplites and Cheerleaders. Given some time this could easily be done by feeling the bags or by using a small digital scale. -
Välkommen till EB! Alltid roligt att se fler svenskar här :) (Welcome to EB! Always nice to see more swedes here) That's a nice classic town you got there, is that a set no 1592 i see to the right?

How Do You Source Your Parts
NorthernKnight replied to Ricecracker's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Mainly sets, as i like to get a nice variation of bricks. When i buy loose bricks from bl or shop at home i just go for those parts or minifigs i don get enough of in the sets. -
MOC: Driving the cattle past the old shop
NorthernKnight replied to Etzel's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Really nice moc Etzel The atmosphere in the scene is great with a lot of motion and detail yet with a quiet and rural feel to it. Görsnygg, som vi säger här på Hisingen. -
Wow, that's a trailer full of spoilers if i ever saw one.

I'm very impressed by your models. The setup as a whole is magnificent it's great to see a big peaceful layout without all those policemen/firefighters/tanks/zombies and other stuff that are so abundant in many Lego cities.

I would like to see some sets showing the medieval "production line", from raw materials to finished product. The first would be the farmer-mill-baker set with a small farm or just a field with the farmer by his plough, a small windmill and the baker in a small bakery. The second could be the mine-smelter-smith set with a small (and could we make it at least vaguely historical this time) mine. It should have a worker rolling his cart of ore over to the iron smelter with a light-brick furnace and finally the smith making all kinds of stuff that he sells in his shop. Each of these sets would have a main model and two smaller ones with approximate brick ratio of 1/2 1/4 1/4. A minimum of four minifigs per set would be needed, one for each craftsman and an end consumer, the soldier shopping for a new helmet or a tavernkeeper buying some loaves of bread.

Thanks for a great article Sir Dillon! I totally agree with you one most cases. To me, the 375 and MMV (even though i don't own lthe latter) stand out in particular as they introduced something new on a grand scale, and did it good. The 375 as the first of a type of castle that is still being produced today, the same basic layout and features still being there 34 years later. And the MMV as the first larger civilian set, which by the way is a direct parallell to the CC style buildings in town era. It opens up the opportunity to build a civilian world outside the castle walls. If I could pick something f your list it would be the chess set, it's really just a minifig extravaganza without many play features. As you yourself asked, does anyone actually play chess with it?

AFOL and their approach to the hobby by theme
NorthernKnight replied to Legoist's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Interesting topic. I myself am building a castle army and occasional castle moc. But I think that the interest in different themes is to some extent an age thing. I dont collect starwars or bionicle simply because there is no nostalgia attached to them, they were introduced when i was "too old" to play with lego (I'm 32 now). I would guess that the older you get, the more you moc. No wonder the greatest number of mocs are town, pirates, and castle. All of which was introduced at least twenty years ago, making the nostalgia-fans at least around thirty years old. Has anyone ever seen a huge bionicle moc made by a middle-aged person? Now a city army, that I would like to see, hundreds of identical minifigs with suits and briefcases sitting in a long row of small cars. I think I would call it the "commuter horde". -
The yellow castle of course, must have gotten it sometime around 1982. Fourteen minifigs in three nicely defined fractions. That must be the greatest number of figs ever to be released in a single castle set, right?

Thank you Captain Blackmoor It's the same basic design as those used in the classical world, although they usually had two or four horses. There are two more shots of it in the "Post Your Castle Army Here!" thread.

Romans or Greeks/Spartans
NorthernKnight replied to Emperor Claudius Rome's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
How about those books with some bricks in them, whatever they are called. You could get a classical greek myth (certanly considered good litterature by parents) which are all copyright free. And some bricks and a fig or two to act out the myth after you have read it. Just imagine Perseus with a mirror (chrome) shield and Medusa. Or a Hercules with a shovel to clean out the Augean stables -
And what do you call the small ones - Troblins of course
-
I have bought some additional troops so here's a new post with updated photos. First off we have the entire army, about seventy guys or so, not counting the animals: Here is a closeup of the undead and the trorcs and troblins, as you can see i have rebuilt a lot of them and given the poorly armored skellies some proper heavy infantry. Most of the skellies are from PaB, that's why they have the smiley face: A closeup of the crown prince in all his splendor. As you can see i try to get as much details and equipment on my minifigs as possible, rather than having a lot of troops. This means all crownies have printed torsos under their armor, both hands occupied, armor on skellies etc.

I built this little trorc archer chariot. It has some pikes, spikes and two side blades. In my legoworld, trorcs are nice to animals - its those pesky humans they cant stand I made it a lot smaller than the offiicial troll war machines, which I found oversized.

I would easily buy my Lego in a non printed box from S@H if this would ease the pressure on the environment (and my wallet). Would it be impractical/more expensive to package them like this? I know i once had the option to choose "plain box" from PaB, but never on the sets. Since i just throw my boxes away anyway, i dont want to pay for printing and transport of huge boxes. The biggest one i got so far was the box for Kings Castle Siege which, cut to pieces, filled two small garbage bags!

I've been an extra in several Swedish crime movies (in one i was actually one of the bank robbers). It was a nice way to get some extra cash when I was a student/unemployed. I just hung around the set for a day, walk by the camera a couple of times, and by the end of the day i got 35 euro and a free pizza I haven't actually bothered to watch any of them, since i don't like crime movies.

Why were cannons in the USA non-shooting?
NorthernKnight replied to Jack Bricker's topic in LEGO Pirates
They fired them in a rapid sequence, I believe it's called a broadside... Turn your speakers up really loud and click below: -
I don't think we should see Robin Hood as a sign of a rerun of the forestmen theme. If that was the case, will there also be a zombie vs clowns theme? i don't think so.
