[Pictorial Review] 30201 Ghost
Lego Amaryl replied to Plissken's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Some friends and me have ordered this set from the German site Spieletom, but I've not taken mine yet. It seems a good purchase for the price. Nice review, however the photos could be better: too many shadows and reflections caused by the flash. -
Nice truck, however I suggest you to slightly modify it to be able to put the minifig inside. For a truck of this size it shouldn't be difficult!
-
Wow! It's very realistic and far better than the Creator set that has the same name! Does it have an interior?
-
This is a little antique car, 5 studs wide: In this photo you can notice some tricks I used to build it: I'd like also to share my simple photographic set for MOCs. I use a curved white paper for the background, a cheap flexible tripod and the remote control for my reflex camera to keep it stable when shooting:

Nice trucks. My only concern is that the door used in horizontal position may not stay open in that position, due to gravity it would tend to fall...
-
Wow, this is really a great creation, both the harbour and the ferry. You should try to get some more photos using a smaller aperture to get the whole ferry in focus.

This little MOC was inspired by a statue in my town, Messina. This is the shot by the minifig This is a photo of the original statue in Messina (Sicily) in Piazza Unione Europea.

Thanks for your kind comments

B-OV-33A This is an old MOC of mine, that I revised to take part in a local exposition (ItLUG Latina 2012) for the very large City Diorama. At first I wanted to make my old Street Cafe into a modular, but I didn't have enough time (and bricks), so I simply made it a little larger, with a more detailed interior. More pictures and description on MOCpages.

Beautiful MOC Itaria No Shintaku! I remember having seen it somewhere...
-
This is exactly what the set is made for!

Actually yellow and red are the colours of my town... I didn't find a precise translation for granita, as I think it's made only in Italy (actually, the true granita is made only in Sicily). The most important thing about granita is that it's made from real fruits, differently from broken ice with syrup that it's made in other Italian regions.
-
Nice van! What kind of bar did you use for the side mirrors?
-
When it's hot in summer, there's nothing better than a granita, with the traditional brioche: This is a van that sells granita and brioche (it lacks stickers, but I haven't found yet any good picture that represents granita and brioche!): More pictures at http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=473626

I'd like to get the 1x4x6 transparent doors also in opaque colors (e.g. brown, white, black, yellow). So they can be used as internal doors, instead of current doors that have the window inside and are not appropriate (especially for bathrooms like in the Pet Shop set!). I'd also like a more realistic piece to make the handles of the door, both sides, intead of using the round plate 1x1.

Just few bricks and a NXT kit with me at the moment... so I used Technic beams to build a container: According to LEGO geometry, 6 beams equal 5 bricks, so size is respected!

A woman, four suitors. Will she choose the richest one in the sport car?
-
There is a wide use of pieces released in 2010 and 2011, and no piece out of production. This is very strange to be a MOC...
-
If you look very carefully at some images, it looks like a new interesting piece is introduced in these sets. Something that combines and and that could be called "bracket 1 x 2 - 2 x 4".
-
I don't think there's this risk. TLG introduces many new molds every year, but only few are large specialized pieces. Most of the new pieces can be used in a wide variety of ways, even if they are introduced for a specific use. Some examples: - the new mudguard introduced in City theme is often used as an arch over the windows, or in SW sets. - the telescope is used as a support for fences - even the big piece for the concrete mixer is used in another way in an Atlantis submarine! This is what makes TLG a true construction toy, different from Megabloks!

Flo's Cafe is very nice. Many new parts, but also nice details using existing parts (e.g. the "8" shape!). Putting away the most "<insert that tiresome argument>" parts, the most interesting new parts are the triple convex wedge 3x4, Mater's mudguard with headlights and the curved tile 1x4. They would be very useful to build minifig-scale vehicles and I hope they'll be released also in other sets and in common colors!
-
Usually they are available on Amazon too. I was expecting something better from City Brickmaster. Star Wars and Atlantis Brickmasters were far more attractive. Curious how the car has the smaller wheels, as in my MOC

MOCs are done to be copied!

Taking inspiration from sets 3648 Police Chase and 3661 Bank and money transfer, I tried to make a better design for modern 4-wide minifig scale vehicles. This is what came out: Other photos on Brickshelf and MOCpages.
