  2. It's very hard to choose among al the entries! My votes go to: 8) DJ Entry (Build by absolutelylez) 23) Vampire Entry (Build by Darkblane) 34) Witch Entry (Build by Athos)
  3. This is not a problem as new trains don't have doors!
  4. I didn't know this use of the brick separator until I found this picture: All the possible uses of the brick separator are in the same Brickshelf Gallery.
  5. Just got my second prize!! Thanks CopMike!
  6. My Christmas present in 1989:
  7. I'm very curious about the second version! Just some months ago I built that layout from the Trains Idea Book: View all the photos on MOCpages
  8. It is related instead! I'm a fan of Star Trek! I'm fan of science fiction in general, but with LEGO I'm "down to earth" and build only City...
  9. I'm 28.. I'm not very open about my hobby... I work in another city, so most of my LEGO is still in my parents' house, in my hometown. Most of my friends and relatives there know, but only to my closest friends I talk about it and show my new sets or MOCs. My friends are really made curious by my LEGO, and some of them always put my minifigs in "sex" positions! In the house where I live now with two other people, I've got some LEGO but I don't keep it in plain view and I don't let the others see when I build something. My friends here and my colleagues at work don't know, and I browse LEGO sites only when I'm not seen. Maybe I'm close with people here because I've known them for less time, but I'm almost sure that some of them wouldn't understand and would consider it childish or strange! Probably I'll be more open with some friends, but for sure I'll never talk about it to my boss at work!
  10. Hi! I modified my bus of the set 7641 City Corner to make it more realistic. The original version of the bus has radiator grills on the front and no motor on the back, so I modified it to be more similar to a real bus. In addition, I put a separation behind the driver seat and printed custom stickers. This is the result: More images on MOCpages and Brickshelf. EDIT: who can guess why I chose the number 47 ?
  11. The figs are great and the prizes are well assorted!! Very thanks CopMike!!
  12. Hi! There's my entry:
  13. Nice raffle! I'm not home, but with the few bricks I have with me I've managed to compose this simple vignette: This unlucky diver that is surrounded by sharks... he's on a rock Other pics on my Brickshelf gallery when moderated.
  14. I've noticed that the plastic looks different from old sets, it look more "transparent". This is more noticeable for light colours. In the same set you can find different bricks of the same colour made of the "old" plastic (they look more solid, with sharp borders) and of the "new" plastic. In the Model Town House I found that 1x10 bricks had a different shade of tan.

    City '09?

Not permanent cities like an AFOL's one... in 80-90s with some BASIC and Town sets, you could own a little town without spending a capital. Now this is impossible, so kids tend to consider a LEGO set as a standalone toy to play with.

    City '09?

I think that TLC should decide "once forever" which is the scale of Lego City. I agree that classical town vehicles (especially trucks) are too small, so my preferred scale is 4-wide for cars and 6-wide for trucks. The orange truck is perfect in this scale. However, many of the vehicles that TLC has been releasing in the last years are too oversized, like 7726 Coast Guard Truck with Speed Boat or 7344 Dump Truck. Which Lego town can fit these vehicles? They are larger than roads and buildings! I think that if we wanted to build truly realistic vehicles with 4 seats, we should also build huge houses, with rooms that can fit several people, bathrooms, and so on. This is something that an expert builder with a good budget can afford, but not a kid or a "small-budget" AFOL. So we need a compromise. Classical town vehicles and buildings had "common rules" and they used to look well together. Most vehicles were low-priced items that a kid used to receive as little presents, and there were many kinds of buildings. Now instead a kid collects different sets that can't fit in the same town! Consider also that some themes, such as Racers and most of Creator, are not in the same scale of Lego City, and so how is a kid supposed to build a "LEGO City"?
  17. It looks so "classic"... I'll buy it for sure. But I'm disappointed for the roadsign stickers too...
  18. It's a nice set, although I think these new City vehicles are too big for my classical town. I like the back very much, with these new grill slopes. A challenge would be to put pneumatic functions in it. The little pneumatic piston has more or less the same size of the "little piston-looking piece"...
  19. It's a good set but it's a modified version of Cool Cars with different colours... Also Cool Cars seems to be steering in the picture of the box, it's very misleading! They do computer rendering and modify the picture too! I want real picture on the box, not rendering!!
  20. Great! I've uploaded an avatar, now I think I can be in also for the main prizes...
  21. Count me too!
  22. My problem is different, because I just moved to Rome. But since I'm here, I've found only shops with very expensive prices, up to 20% higher than S@H. In the city where I lived before, in Sicily, I was able to find the sets with prices comparable to S@H...
  23. Hello! Are there people from Italy that can give me a tip about good shops in Rome, possibly reachable with public transport?
  24. It's a wonderful set, but too expensive! This is the right way... but why doesn't TLG release little sets too? I think this kind of buildings, sold separately, or little scenes of city life like the bride and the bridegroom with the limo could be successful in shops too.
  25. Paradisa was a great set. My sister received few sets (mainly the restaurant and the beach) and I used to incorporate them in my city. Don't forget that many pieces that now are very common were first introduced with Paradisa!
