Nice first moc! Great snow and all, but, as sk has said already, a second color would ad nicely to this build! Also, in case you don't have that much light, the ms office picture manager has some features that allow you to put some more light in your pics, it's what I always use as well

The Settlers go to Historica – part I: Pinewood cutter
kabel replied to Yooha's topic in Guilds of Historica
that's what I always feel like too when I see your ldd mocs. I really like them so much, that I'm very tempted to build them with real bricks. That way you could also participate in challenges ... anyway, the main building and the idea is just totally awesome, what I do not really like is the shaq, hope you can outgrow it -

ANNOUNCING: Guilds of Historica Book II: The Civil War
kabel replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
I'd say it's a matter of oceanic currents, compare New Foundland to Northern France for instance, both on the same lattitude yet completely different climates! -
thanks for the entry Purr, this looks great. But maybe you can this its own topic so we can discuss it a little better!

ANNOUNCING: Guilds of Historica Book II: The Civil War
kabel replied to ZCerberus's topic in Guilds of Historica
Honestly, I think that this whole discussion is kinda pointless. To me this was always earth, just with a different fantasy reality. Similar to ASOIAF. I never ask what sort of planet Westeres etc. are situated on, it's not important. The only thing I always wonder is why there are seasons that last for several years. But that's a different story. As for Historica, I actually enjoy making up a world that seems similar to our own, yet is in some respects, totally different. With regards to Varlyrio, we could actually have several options. Either it's an island situated on a mid-oceanic ridge, kinda like Iceland, or a small piece of contiental plate drifting on its own, sorta like the indian sub-continet before it slamed into the Eurasian plate (damn that Geography teacher in me ). But that is for Mikey to decide! However, I'm one of those who always asked for exploration, as I like to build ships. And DM actually went ahead to create some more continents, that are not part of the official cannon though. Maybe the core leaders should find a compromise there! -

My army isn't actually that large as I've tried to focus on collecting civilians ... -
a shame you left Mitgardia because this is really a fantastic moc (as always). Great building techniques and interesting minifig posing. I really like this!

thanks guys. As you found out, this build was put together in just a few hours in order to give Mitgardians an idea as to what they could do in the community build. So yes, some things aren't well thought off, and if I were to critisize, I'd go for the same weaknesses! @DC: it's always an honor to comented on by you! @Gabe: I totally agree with you. There are definetely I few things I could improve, maybe I'll build this again. At first I wanted to leave it at this, but with this good advise I wil rework the vig. I'll stick with cotton though ... @DG: I already had the trans clear bricks for the waterfall, tha's why I didn't use them for the steam. I might use them for the pool though. @Kermit: headlight bricks below the rockformation and the dark tan connect the build to the plate. The rocks and the water follow the same direction and are therefore connected to each other.

Nice improvements, definetely a worthy entry!

Nocturnus Tribes: The Shkcklyk (Sh-kick-click).
kabel replied to Lord Vladivus's topic in Guilds of Historica
haha great, the shashlik, I wonder what they taste like nice job mate, I just think they look a little too cute for Nocturnus though ... -
thanks for the comment guys! @Niku: why does everybody think of us Mitgardians as just a bunch of flithy uncultered barbarians? @Infernum: yeah, your right, the yellow really sucks. Everytime I try to incorporate the Mitgardian colors in the base in turns out rather strange, I'll have to think of something else ...

It's a good thing seeing you this active in mocing again. For a while I thought we had lost you, but you're back and that's great! As for your creation, great techniqes as always, I'm not 100% convinced of the purple though -
it'll fine, looking forward to it!

Nice one bk! I especially like the green side, nice use of colors and I got a good laugh out of the chicken! As for advice, maybe some more plants (on the green side) would do good. Probably some of the small leave pieces stuck closely together would create the effect of of a low brush vegetation. And maybe some dead or whithered plants bones etc. on the other side. BTW, where is Mitgardia is this? Border to Nocturnus, demons rigde?

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
kabel replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
who the heck ever said that there are no forests in Mitgardia? Quite the contrary is true! Our forests are much more ragged and wild in comparison to the mere parks they have in Avalonia. Anyway, fare well all you outh breakers, Mitgardia is the country of men, not of pansies! -
alright, cool stuff! Now as for you moc. I really like the idea of a direwolf hiding in the forest and I also like the mix of colors you are using here. Some things to improve: - add more foliage to the ground, undergrowth in old growth forests tends to be really thick. So in this case I'd say put at least 20 more of the leave pieces on the ground. - I wouldn't use black for the forest ground, brown, dark tan are much better - try to create thinner branches. the wedge piece doens't look too good here. - a great collection of brick build trees can be found here. Try to use some of the techniques portrayed there - take pictures of different angles to make things look more interesting

@CBB: those fields are just really great and so are the houses. Too bad you joined the dark forces and allow for the evil to destroy this beautiful pastoral scenery. -
thanks for the feedback guys @CBB: I totally understand what you mean. I was originally going to use some dark tan plates as land around the pond when I suddenly realized I didn't have any small ones anymore. Also bases are something I should really give some more thought. It's going to be the next thing I want to focus on. @Gideon: About the cotton, I would also consider myself a purist but there are a few things that I use that are non Lego product. Those are sails, string rigging and cotton for smoke. But maybe I can use plates to do the smoke/steam next time. I'll see what I can come up with. @Soccerkid: yeah this was sorta meant as an example of what people could do for the community build. Hope I see something from you too in the not too distant future .

hey hench, don't get me wrong, I like your build and there many interesting things about it. However, before you can participate you need to sign up for the Guild of Mitgardia and introduce yourself with a character and shwear your loyalties to the Northern guild. Also, we want to explain where in Mitgardia your landscape can be found and you are also to post this in the community build thread before you open a single thread. All's cool kabel

Dark Isle Saga: Rising Of The Damned Part 1
kabel replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Guilds of Historica
Oh man DC, your work, as always, is really incredible. Great building techniques, great photography and of course an interesting story. Actually your moving from the pirate into the history realm made me focus my attention on historic mocs too and I have to say I profited quite a bit from that. Anyway, @others: As I have mentioned before in another thread, the color sceme is not too far fetched. This picture, for instance, shows a house I found in a living history museum in Germany that focuses on old farm houses: -

my first contribution to the community build. -
The mighty mountains in Southwestern Mitgardia only look dangerous from outside Mitgardia. But there are also some places that are as pleasent as anything. A swim in the Demon's Rigde Hot Springs is always aprericiated by those who dare venturing through these mountains:
