Having the cool figures in this set means we can get alot more of them for the same money. (But yeah, I got your point)

Excellent review for a first one. It's certainly convinced me to get it. But, I think you need to swap the torsos for the two agents.

I second what Matn said. There's not much pleasure in a surprise if it is spoiled. Even though I'm guilty at studying leaked pictures. The Merry-Go-Round sounds awfully expensive, though. And I haven't made room in my LEGO-budget for it. *sigh*

I use a combination of Flickr, Brickshelf and MOCPages. - Flickr: Started to use this site not so long ago, when I wanted to comment on something. Brikkelauget has also set up a group for its members here, which I now help to administer. So far only have one picture on there, which links to my DigiMOCs on MOCPages, but my intention is to use Flickr for pictures of other things too, and not just LEGO. Also possible to communicate with other people on the site, which is a big plus. - MOCPages: Used for MOCs. While it forces me to learn som basic html-coding, I can live with that since there are currently no limits on MOCs, pictures or on the size of these. It's not possible to communicate between users, limited to leaving comments, but then again it is pretty much a gallery site. - Brickshelf: For me, this is not much more than a storage-site. I upload pictures, then I hotlink them on other sites, such as here. Also used for scraps and WIPs, when I want to show something on IRCNet. Those who have seen my folder will see that there's plenty of clutter and random stuff in there.

Good luck with the exams, then! Going completely off-line is a little overboard, IMO, but at least you're taking your education seriously.

Classic! As in litteraly. This certainly has the vibe that is so typical of classic-town sets, that it wouldn't be too hard to use this in an April 1st-joke, and have people fall for it. Really nice piece of work, Klaus-Dieter. And a very competitive entry, it won't be easy to predict a winner, that's for sure.

Hmm, when you put it like that - town then. Why? Well, town is afterall an extremely flexible theme, to the point that it's possible to justify to divide it up further in sub-themes (excepting trains in this case). It incorporates both action and role-playing elements, while other themes are more likely to focus on the action-aspect. Besides, like I said above, trains give town a sense of life, but a creative builder can achieve a similar effect with cleverly placed minifigs and cars. Further, I have gained a fascination with architecture thanks to Berard's modular buildings, and it's impossible not to be impressed with buildings with this high amount of detail. I have designed a few digiMOCs as well that are lingering on my MOCPages-page, waiting to be tweaked and turned into real bricks.

I wish I had gotten the 4547 club car. *sigh* Now it costs a fortune on Bricklink - $100 US and upwards for a used one, and $300 and upwards in new condition.

What is the baseplate size of the Cafe Corner and Green Grocer
Freddie replied to Madcat2000's topic in LEGO Town
Café Corner-type Modular Structure, I think. Could be Café Corner, Market Street, for all I know. Just as long as it refers to buildings that adheres to dimensional standards and interlock to each other the way 10182, 10185 and 10190 does. I reckon I've seen it mentioned before when pointing out that a MOC would connect to these buildings, so I didn't pick it out from thin air. -
Pity that it still uses the petrol-engine to generate all of the electricity used by electric motor. The new model rectificies this, though, with overnight-charging capabilities. Still, I think it would be a neat idea if LEGO would group together with say, Tesla (who builds electric sportscars) or maybe Fisker (petrol-electric plug-in serial hybrid) for models of cars in the future. Trains also would be a good idea, as these are always heralded as favourable to regular road-transport.

What is the baseplate size of the Cafe Corner and Green Grocer
Freddie replied to Madcat2000's topic in LEGO Town
I don't think there's a dedicated topic, but it's been discussed here, starting at post #27. Scroll down a few posts and there's even a graphical overview of how the footprint of these buildings should look like to comply with the CCMS-standards! -
This is a most excellent MOC, benny! Busy and bustling with activity - it looks very alive. Those are some cute buildings too, and a nice forklift too!
-
Those are some seriously good minifig-drawings! I'd request something, but I already have a drawn (VGCats) avatar that I've become rather attached to, since I've been using it since forever. Oh, and I don't have a sigfig either. But keep up the good work!

Very artsy, and very cool. For some reason it reminds me of bodyworks, and is still very different from it. The face is just plain creepy to look at - I don't think I've ever seen a MOC that's given me cold shivers before, apart maybe from Arvo Bros' GITS-doll.

You know what I find funny? The tactical differences between the humans and orcs. While the humans use tools, or in #3's case, a steel pot, to get ahead of the competition, the orcs aren't afraid to just eliminate the competition altogether. Nice touch. I like the water too, but I think it would help if there was some trans-blue pieces mixed in a few places there. Right now it looks to me that they're riding a stream of milk.

As a fellow warcraft fan, I recognised the meat wagon almost at the instant I saw it. I have to admit I would have liked to see a little more dark brown to it, as I always had the impression the meat wagon was a wooden construct, but saronite and flesh works as well - this is afterall an undead machine. Very cool MOC.

I would like to vote "both" as well. The way I see it, trains and town are pretty much intertwined with each other. While a town doesn't require trains, it's necessary to give life to it, just as trains needs town to give it a purpose. They can exist without each other, but both become duller without the other.

Guss: I think they're awesome. And cute. But then again they were cute from the get-go, or at least they were in SAC. Even though they are way off-model, they're still instantly recognisable as Tachikomas. Same goes for Red Crab. Actually, I think this one's better. There's more detail to it, and there's gone more creativity into it. Excellent stuff.

I think there's room for one more thread about music on this forum, seeing how the thread Joey Lock is referring to is about what you're listening to right now, and that this one is for discussing it. I'm a very open-minded person. At least I try to be, and like to consider myself one. Because of that I listen to all sorts of music, from all over the world, but I do have a favourite genre, and that would be rock. And in that genre, I have one thing that I do not have in any of the other genres, a favourite performer, or rather, a favourite band. That band would be Poets of the Fall. They're a finnish band, and I stumbled across their music when I found a Kim Possible tribute video. The song in that video was "Locking up the sun", and I was immediatly entranced by it. I can't point out exactly why; it could be the composition, it could be the message in the song, it could be that I just find it highly enjoyable to listen to. What I do know, is that it led me to the other songs, such as , , Sleep and other songs that the band have made. And it led me to buy their (at the time) two albums, and the third when it was released. And that before listening to it, even!I just think they rock! Anybody else here experienced something like this when they randomly stumbled across a song?

I've seen one in polished aluminium. This is one of those cars where the color really doesn't matter. The one I saw is a track-day car, and the polished aluminium body is just a lighter alternative to painting it, and honestly, it didn't stand out from the crowd at all. 10th May there's a sports-car event taking place, where owner show off their cars. If it shows up I can snap some pictures for you, so you know how it looks.

Thank you! I added a "More heritage-sets, such as 10184 Town Plan, instead of re-released classic sets"-option to the check-box list. I think it's a better approach to classic sets than re-releasing the classic sets, IMO. The re-releases are never going to be like the original anyway, so better to have something in the spirit of a classic set instead of an awkward copy.

This is one of the sets that I will not be gunning for this year. While I suspect I'm one of the few that sees that the centerpiece "building" is actually a heavy-duty garage-crane, it is mostly only the two trucks and the two smaller building sections that appeal to me. Yeah, I'll wait and see. There are better sets coming this year that I'll be wanting.

Just because everybody most townies are saying Green Grocer, I'll go against the stream and say Café Corner. I'd make sure to remove the "Hotel"-sign outside, though.

Ayumi Hamasaki - Alterna I'm advising people with a fear of clowns to not watch the video... Also, I'm listening to Phoenix Effect - Broken Promises

What can I say that hasn't already been said? This MOC is just spectacular, with all those little details, the cars, the people and the mood. It genuinly feels as if it takes place during the early 20th century, as if you've taken a look back in time. Very, very, very nice, this is.
