If you're referring to the glitch that allowed hunters to tame a specific worgen, that was hotfixed long ago. Worgen are otherwise humanoids and therefore untamable. If you're refering to the beasts (wolves?), yeah, well, they're not really a unique species to play as. Guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens. But I'm still crossing my fingers for Worgen and Gilneas as their starting zone!

The human challenge

Keep in mind that technic axles can only handle so much torque, before they snap. That, and the XL-motor is known for snapping and breaking things if not used properly. Otherwise, I'm with Polish Guy on this one. What you'll really need is traction. You can always gear down the faster motors to get torque, but torque is useless if the wheels keep spinning. -
Very nice set. Thanks for the review, Jansued! I'll admit, the set has grown on me - I didn't like the americaness of it, but have grown to really like the aesthetics of it, plus the interior is yet again more detailed compared to its fore-runners. I'm still no big fan of the flag, though, but as with all LEGO sets, such details can be modified and adjusted to one's likings. In my case it will simply be replaced with the flag that came with 7945. So yeah, I'll be getting myself at least one of these.

Now, I'm a careful optimist, and especially so regarding rumours of Blizzard's games - but in the wake of Blizzard registering a few new trademarks, which on their own are not feasible enough for speculation about an expansion or new game, IMO; two pairs of new halloween masks have been uncovered. What makes them special is that masks of this type up until now have been exclusevily depicted the faces of playable races; these are goblin and worgen. Furthermore, there's both male and female version. But, there are no female worgens in-game... Speculation also points out that Worgen would be alliance-aligned and Goblins horde-aligned. Like I said, I'm a careful optimist, but I can't help getting all giddy because of this: I really, really, really want to play as Worgen.

With plenty of time to kill on the bus to and from work, I read the StarCraft: Dark Templar trilogy. Only recently started reading the first book, since hard-reading theory books in college severly put of my interest in reading anything. I am yet to purchase the third and final book, altough I will do so in due time.

You obviously haven't had a real job. I was hired at the national hospital as a one-year temporary worker (begun 1. july), with a possible promotion to be fully hired after that. I've got a decent pay (well-paid IMO, for the work I do), two paid half-hour lunch-breaks (with the side-note that I'm still on duty under said lunchbreaks), nice co-workers and fast hours. And the nurses are cute. Getting up at four in the morning has never been so easy.

I'd like to congratulate all the newly elected ambassadors as well! Crossing my fingers for another fantastic year!

Well, there are thinner beams that you could use, along with the 3/4 pins that are designed specifically for that type of beam. Using that, and replacing the angle-connectors with these, should narrow the width of the driving rods at least one stud. To connect the beam with the alternative angle-connector, use 1/2 pins. At least, I think it will work. I'm not sure.

I was thinking of these two parts, but the latter has recently been replaced by this piece, which is possibly better. And then there are a few alternatives, depending on your needs and wants. Paintballman413: 12V is controllable, but the old 4.5V battery trains weren't speed controllable. Didn't really matter, though, since they weren't exactly fast either.

Very nice; it looks vintage and wouldn't look misplaced in the train section of an 80's catalogue. Nice to see that you carried over the wheel configuration from the orginal locomotive - to my understanding this was a common method of creating bogies, before they could actually pivot. I would have used trailer hinges instead of turntables, though. The resulting construction would likely be sturdier, but your solution seems to work, so there's really no need to change it.

I don't agree on removing the catalytic converter, since right now your car is emitting carbon-monoxide and nitrogen oxides, which is worse, compared to what it should emit: carbon-dioxide, nitrogen and oxygen (!). And on a car such as yours, removing the catalytic converter won't help anything, since by the 90's catalysts should be high-flow and back-pressurized enough, that a car should perform worse when its removed (no, don't point out what US car-makers did in the '70's, those were a different type of catalytic converters). You sure it's not the louder sound of the car that makes it feel as if it goes faster than it did? I drive a fairly mundane '96 Mazda 626 1,8. Not a fast car, not a luxurious car either, but at least a comfortable and quiet car, and it does everything it needs to do with much less drama compared to my previous daily, a '91 Nissan Primera 2.0. It's a downgrade performance-wise (-10 hp and 200+ kg more), but I prefer the Mazda, altough the Nissan was a blast to drive. And as for giving the impression that it was faster when it was just louder; I lost its primary muffler twice because of rust - nothing is louder than a car which only uses the manifold-end of the exhaust system! Sounds fantastic when you open the throttle, but embarrasing when driving trough town.

That is a sweet looking train! Bonus points for making it look authentic, while still having a degree of fantasy in it - most train-builders prefer building replicas of real trains, so this is a real breath of fresh air.

Never noticed until I saw this topic, but I own a cap identical to alex54's - mine also came in 7641. Furthermore, PaB Online also has the new cap in their sortiment, last time I checked, which heavily suggests its a new mold. A new, nice, mold, IMO.

Finally bought myself that 4547 Euro-Express Double-Decker that I've wanted since '95. Paid 90$ for a complete one, with applied stickers and such, which I overall think is a good deal. I also bought an extra 6 x 28 light gray train base, to further extend my 4558 with an extra car, albeit a normal one.

There's a few pictures of it over the WoW-Wiki.

The modification/modernisation looks surprisingly similar to what they do in european cities, such as the old fortress-city of Fredrikstad in Norway. It's not unusual to find souvenir shops housed in buildings like these, but in some cases those are regulated away to make room for real shops and restaurants, like you've done here - altough the roads are usually made from cobblestones to scare drivers away from driving their cars inside those districts.

Incredibly detailed as ever, Hinckley. But, I have one bit of criticism, and that is the lack of internal details visible through the windows. Right now the building looks recently-abandoned, and adding details, such as curtains, or other interior details, might change that in a positive direction.
-
Incredibly detailed design, as we've come to expect from you, Hinckley! I agree with all of the above comments. The diner's panoramic windows are a very nice detail, as is the clashing designs for the two facades. Interesting design for the fire-escape as well, and the interior visible through the windows is a nice touch as well. Gives the building a sense of purpose, or life if you will.

It looks faithful to the 12V-train design philosphies. With the vast array of parts we have today, combined with more advanced building techniques, it's easy to get carried away when building a tribute model like this one. You've kept it simple, which really helps when building these. So yeah, this is a great, and nostalgic, MOC. Already looking forward to the next locomotive!

Extremely well-done station, Teddy. Fits aesthetically together with the other modular buildings like a hand in a glove, and the interior and boarding-platforms are no less detailed. Love it!

I saw this on LUGNET some time ago. It's an excellent model, and it was sad to see that it got no replies on there. And Commander Flash, Booty Bay is from World of Warcraft, in case you didn't know, and it is very much a port town, seeing as its a neutral travel hub with a ship that docks every five minutes, letting players of both factions travel to other continents.

I play too, altough only occasionally. A recent lightning strike has reduced it to practically "not at all", but that'll get fixed in due time. When I do play, though, you can find me on Bronzebeard-EU (yeah, I'm not a PVP'er). I favour alliance characters, and as such all of my characters are alliance-aligned: A level 75 Night Elf Hunter (Terranaut; Beast Master), a level 65 Human Death Knight (Mortiferus; Unholy), a level 20 Gnome Warrior (Twistgear; Fury), a level 20 Night-Elf Druid (Faline; Balance), a 15 Draenei Shaman (Thalinn; Elemental) and a level 10 Dwarf Paladin (Aequus; Retribution). The plan forward is to level the draenei to 16, so she'll get her ghost wolf when the patch hits, then use my hunter and gun it for heirloom-armor for my plate-wearing characters. But as said above, it'll be in due time, and other things will have to come first.

That is an incredibly faithful reproduction of the set! I'll agree with Milan on the wheels; I always thought the wheels were oversized, no matter how cool they were, and the smaller ones fitted here really don't spoil the looks. Build-wise, it's not much more than a raised, four-wheel drive 8448, IMO - the doors are very cool, though, with the side-steps lowering down automatically when the door opens. Also, as an owner of this set, I can indeed confirm what brickbitz said; the suspension is very soft, and even mushy, at it's best, which was a bit of a let-down, since the car is so front-heavy that it can barely hold up the front. There's also some issues with the parts used for transfering the power from the chassis to the wheels, which have way to much friction. But otherwise a fantastic set.

So that's two victories in one day? Congratulations on winning yet another building competition, Hinckley!
