  1. This afternoon I sat there with my daughter & did Hairspray, followed by Pretty in Pink (all except the last 5 minutes, as thats missing of the video) & then has to ask the wife how it ended. I really should get a life. Jof
  2. Now I've been here a couple of months, I love the way the titles of some members change. In fact it was only by asking jonfett why his has changed (ha ha) that I even knew to look for an explaination of titles. I think its quite interesting as to how people get them, so if I post here, then maybe I'll hear some more stories on why you have the titles you have, or why they have changed. Jof
  3. Clickits YES! ZNAP Yes! Explore Yes, especially those silly musical thingys Galidor - I'd never even heard of it until I saw some of the dolls in the Legoland Windsor clearance tent! Fabuland, but they seem to go for quite a bit on ebay, so maybe they were protected by their low numbers. Basketball! - what was the point of that in europe? I don't think scala or belville (or paradisa for that) were ever produced in huge numbers, so their rarity has ensured the price remained fairly high (even though I don't think they were worth the price). Certainly I find it difficult to pick up good belville sets for my daughter, in fact we have only ever seen 1 set in the sales & got that then & there, & have you seen the 2nd hand prices on ebay! As for the future, well who knows, at this rate they will probably pick up a few dodgy licenses, but just because the kids don't like them doesn't mean they are not good parts packs. (Regrets not getting more of the original star wars sets when they were reduced after christmas 3 or so years ago after over production) Jof
  4. Here it is from another angle The Ambulance is just the standard police 'prisoner transport' van 7245 With the bars removed & some windows put in their place & a couple of extra bits on the roof (& I have to own up to completing the top floor of the building) It has now been played with, which means: Building has now been kitted out as a 'village hospital' & we have patients & visitors & doctors. Now she is asleep, I have just been out & taken a snap of how it has been left. inside (We are at the limit of closeupness of my digital camera) Sorry, visitors have left, but looks like they were discussing state of their loved ones with the doctors downstairs. You can also see the repaired bicycle (downstars left) and a disabled sit on car type thing with auxillary push handles (downstairs on the right & I don't think it warrents its own picture). I don't want to extract things as I think they should be shown as she has arranged them.
  5. Sounds like retro visit to Flash Gordon/Buck rogers B&W cinema shorts of many moons ago to me. OK, I'm not that old, but I do vaguely remember them being repeated on TV on sat mornings in school holidays Jof
  6. Lego City (& paradisa) buildings from the early 90's do quite well, as TLC havn't made any good ones since. But Yes, if you list them, make sure you include the set numbers, else you just selling a job lot of bricks & it won't take you long to work out it
  7. OK, now for some pictures of miniland London: (Notice I braved the wind & rain to get you these!) What is the point of these rather uninspiring grey block? Grey towerblocks OK, chances are they are heavliy sponsored by some big UK banks, but really, they are so boring, just big grey blocks. (I couldn't even be bothered to take another picture that wasn't as blurry) If you want to sponsor a building, at least have an interesting one! Gerkin Ok & here are a couple of reworked classics Tower & bridge Westminster abby I should really have taken a picture of the Automated London Taxi, where it looked like some kid had tried to pull the body off the chassis, giving it a wierd kind of low rider apperance Jof
  8. B-PV-05B OK, Here is todays creation: "Oh no bike accdent, Quickly!" I am beginning to spot a theme here. Maybe we will be looking at a system hospital for christmas! Jof
  9. Why not just supply 'girl hair' and 'boy hair' with simple old style minifig faces, that way you get the choice of which gender to pick. This would make a dig difference at very little cost, especially in bigger sets like Hospital & the Buckets with more than one person in them.
  10. I agree, they are like Gold dust. I was lucky & picked up 3* 10044 10044 on brickset I picked them up at Legoland Windsor for
  11. OK, I have a big list of pick a bricks that may be of interest (except the black bits, didn't get round to doing them) But first: Didn't get to see preview of new 4D show, as it was raining & we were turned away as it was full - typical. But then we were in there for the old racers show when the hail came down. Luckily they were doing a 10th birthday event for legoland windsor, so they has opened the circus tent for the first time in years & the kids watched a story telling event, then a clown type show. No way the kids were going to stay for special late night light show, too cold & too tired. But I did spend the middle spogs birthday money on a santa fe loco & baggage car (no passenger cars) in the clearence shop. Maybe now I can get my train back from him! OK, now the bit you've all been waiting for: Price:
  12. I will try, But it sort of depends on the kids (& the mrs's) patience. They don't wear an anorak & carry a notebook of all parts ever made downloaded from peeron/lugnet (see I am not that bad, I can't remeber which one)
  13. I am going to try to take the kids there tomorrow as well for their after dark show. (As we have just got back from a weeks holiday in Spain, I hope they are not too tired) I will try & get to the new 4D show preview & re check the clearance tent for offers. (I will try & keep you lot up to date with whats there, as we all like a bargin)
  14. It looks pretty similar to the last ice castle, but you get a horse instead of a bear & a door (like princess & pea set) at the back. Selling for
  15. I will assume that people have been there before, & only report on differences since last year. We only covered part of the park: took kids there & it was raining. Its more of a diary of my visit than a full review: (I will try & post more before the Big Event as we do more visits & cover the rest of the park) New big brick with welcome to legoland at the entrance, but 'WELCOME' letters & people on drive up to carpark appear to be the same. Discount marquee has moved from outside the entrance to down near the harbour (more on that later) New show - 4D magical will not be available until mid april, and after that there appears at the moment to have alternate showings of the old 4D racers & the new show. New bricks in the create and race (as usual for this time of year) for you to make & race cars down a slope. Minitown has new London. Has several of the old buildings & slight change - underground train is now behind perspex. New buildings include gerkin, canary warf & some big ugly grey slab thats obviously sponsored by a bank. We have a couple of new trains - paid for by south west trains no doubt whos livery is on them. Some of the other buildings have been changed, but don't look much different in style to the old buildings. (Thats all we had time to see there) In the duplo bit, they have replaced the duplo make & create in 1/2 the shop building with some sort of pottery franchise. Tried to get lunch at pasta food place (25% off with season ticket) but they had fire alarm when in the queue, so a bit of a disastorus start. (got kids meals at adjoining chip place, but they wern't that great. Toy was clickits or johnny thunder keyrings) Down to harbour (via driving schools for kids). I think the new Johnny thunder show is better than the last one. On of the girls now wears hareem pants & crop top (something for the dads?) & we seem to have less messing on jetski's & more tumbling. Lighthouse has new jungle style paint job, door halfway up, there is a rope bridge from this new door to a wooden tower on the left of the harbour (away from the harbour restaurant. Makes more action appear on that side of the show (which has been underused in the past) Next on to the new JCB ride, by the train gates. Not sure how this is going to work out. My criticisms are: Queue area is too short, there are just 8 diggers & 1 person per digger and its going to get very congested - it was busy today, & the people there were mostly hardened season ticket holders. Its also quite a narrow path & leads through to the new 'Discoount' marquee Discount Marquee has a lot of foam shields & swords. some dressing up stuff & general tut. BUT what it does have is: (& I don't know if there will be any left by the time you go) Window & door sets (10044) for
  16. You can power the existing 9V motor from a 9V technic battery box via a wire. I have tried it, but that means: No variable speed through a controller. Desiging the train or wagon like the old 4.5V blue track system to include the battery box. Don't know about the other way round, but I guess that if your engine won't fit on the new platform you've had it. Looks like I will be checking out ebay for 9V track
  17. Bin them. Except: Kids have harry potter castle box with all their harry pot stuff in and a belville castle box with all the belville in. And I have kept a couple of starwars boxes that house my collection of instructions. I have 3 big plastic 'under the bed' boxes of the stuff. I couldn't possibly store all the boxes as well.
  18. I thought this was supposed to be about the good stuff. (Even if I do agree with some of what you said) A toy where you can start sticking bits together that only resemble something vague in your imagination at age 4 becomes an advanced modeling tool by the time your own kids are 4. If only you didn't have to let them bash your creations, after all, it is their lego isn't it? And don't get me started on the logistics of keeping your lego separate from the kids lego ;o)

    A Moonbase

Great Model. I like the internal detailing. I think that the inside of buildings should be accessible for play value, like the classic lego town houses. & when I get one of them new designer house sets next christmas I will be modifying it for access to the back. As some people like space models to be air tight, A slight variation would be to make it in 2 halves with a hinge between them, so that it was airtight when closed, but could be opened to give access to the inside (probably easier then trying to make a door for each side) Jof
  20. Could be difficult if your collection is light on grey tiles. I think I only have enough tiles in black or maybe blue at a push....
  21. Jon, I take it you will post 'meeting place' points & times for those meeting you there. Jof
  22. Excellent, made me laugh. I even had to show the mrs...

    Assault Frigate

OK, due to popular demand I have spent 2 evenings playing with LDraw, even if I can't find the trapeziod flags you'll have to get closest match (you can have the .ldr files if you want, email me) Original Heavy fighter Interceptor Repair pod Alternate heavy fighter Attack Bomber
  24. I modded my original A wing in a similar way so the pilot could sit down, in fact it gave me space for the pilot & mechanic to sit in it. It was pretty much a case of removing a 2x8 brick. I am surprised that this lie back pilot position was carried through to the new version. (I am not sure about the purity of this model, as it uses a lot of 'bespoke' parts, rather than the standard parts the original was made of.) Jof
