I am not critisising you lego2000, but those who think spacecraft need BIG engines like we see in real life on shuttle etc. As we don't really know what we could be using for propulsion in the future, they should not get too fixated by big engines. See New scientist Jof -

Why do you think all space craft need thruster style engines? Chemical rockets that we use today would be useless for everyday space use, power to weight ratio is not good and they are not that controllable. Ion engines would be better, but are not really designed for zipping around with regardless of what mr Lucas would have us belive. In fact Hyperdrives, magneto-gravimetric drives and temporal displacement drives may not even be visible as they could be deep within the craft itself. The craft would then only need small manouvering thrusters for fine control. OK, big engines look cool, so maybe we shouldn't just scrap them, but they are not the only means of propulsion Jof (Rethinking lego space drive principles.) -
Nice Yes this is much better. Has character, looks like something you could actually play with. Sturdy, built strong rather than for the sake of hiding studs. Does the 'head' open up? those side panels look like they might be a hangar bay door.... Not really, it is fixed using technic pins, rather than hinges, so if it 'opened' it would be a maximum gap of 2 bricks high on this model. (I used all my hinges on other capital ship that I have already posted about on here) I thought I would stick the pictures on, as I am feeling the urge to deconstruct them ready for another version. I got mine from woolies, then a week ago they had another batch in so I got 2 more just in case to add to my 'ebay msib possibles collection' (well they start my collection) Jof

I don't think the pick a brick is included, but as I say I will try & get confirmation when I go & its not so busy. I think it only applied to the big shop & the shop down by the harbour. Certainly does not include discount shop! And would be limited to what they had in stock, so my gut feel is to wait until they get the new x-wings in stock. Should be easy to sell on ebay at christmas. Shame I don't have a posh phone with email/internet on it. I could see an online ordering frenzy taking place. Jof

I don't have a nearby shop, but I would guess it is specific to the park. In fact it may not even be a real lego offer, but one made by the park owners since they are now 'out sourced' to a company called merlin or something like that. (And don't we know it - rise of non lego rides, money in slot devices for remote controlled boats/lorries and toddler sit on rides. No proper lego toy with kids meals) Normally only get this offer in the couple of weeks before christmas at their 'big shop' as they call it, but this seams to apply until the park closes at the end of october. I will ask them for more information next time I go, such as is there limited availability etc. (probably next weekend) Jof

Its that time of year again when I need to think about renewing my anual pass. Now legoland windsor currently have a special offer to get a free pass for next year for every

People on a Megabloks forum want to know why...
jof replied to Echo's topic in General LEGO Discussion
No, you are wrong. We should all be grateful to MB and the likes, they have, IMHO, bought down the cost of lego in real terms. How much did lego sets cost back in 1990, well about the same as they do today, in fact some things like bucket basic sets seem to be cheaper now than they have ever been. I am sure the small buckets used to be -
Its a shame its not for the original Homeworld, now that was an impressive game. And so much easier to mod too. Oh, I stand corrected, You get to pick if you go up a bit: http://www.brickspace.net/ Jof

OK, i am going to post a link to my current microscale capital ship. It guess the main recognisable bits would be its a mis mash of star destroyer & nebulon B frigate It is conceptual, as I am practicing microscale capital ships at the moment It is made from my collection & no bricklinking it so much snot as studs all over I hope I have deeplinked this enough OK, quality isn't great, but its my ideas rather than some HQ photo shoot Jof

They had 6 more in stock today, after weeks of having none, so I picked up 2 more to start my MSIB star wars collection for my pension. Jof

My local toy shop was selling them off (mini arc 170) for party bags - excess stock from the 'get one free if you spend

The french would drive something like that - but not with the colour scheme. Think sillt little motorized pushbikes crossed with 2CVs. You may want to see if you can pick out any paradisa deckchair striped parts for the seat though & the headlights should be on stalks. & it needs a big sticky out boot (tunk as the yanks call it) lol Jof

I think that you are correct. Kids don't want multiple copies of one set. And us? Well I think that we are now overcompensating for our childhood days, when Lego was so expensive and never in the sales. Now we have disposable income, we have collections that allow us to MOC on a grand scale & we find sets on sale (sometimes at bargin prices), we see the cost of sets on eBay & wish we had bought the whole stock. Admit it, how many of you have purchaced multiple sets in the sale with the intention of ebaying all but one of them, only to be overcome by temptation & add the lot to your collection. I know I have - at least it was only 6976 - a shop was selling excess stock from christmas at

At woolworths. Marked 50% off. When I saw them there was 4 on the shelf & I have now reduced that number by one. Not quite the bargin I got when the original A wings were sold at

this is why I probably will be limiting my own ships to small ones they take up less space, dont hog my brick supply, and I can SWOOSH! them with the big ones, if you want to swoosh, you have to set it on the shelf(its too heavy to hold), then move your head back and fourth real fast, but that makes you dizzy so its no fun... :-D But you are not supposed to swosh big ships! You make a small ship (fighter / transport) and swosh that round the big ship, dock it in the docking bay, or mount an attack on it. Jof

Well maybe I should build some of my old classic space stuff from the late 80's & post some reviews on here!! Jof

I love microscale ships, you are free to create monster sized ships & its quite a challenge to avoid putting something minifig scale on it that messes up the apperance. To me, the design looks very original 'Homeworld', but hey I don't think thats a bad thing. (cross between a heavy cruiser & resource controller and yes I have spent too much time playing it) Jof
-
A great ship. What I want to know is how long some of you lot spend thinking, building & remodeling your craft before posting on here. To me that looks like many attempts at refining & remodeling an idea, and not something you can knock together on a rainy sunday afternoon with the kids Jof

Great use of colour Shakar - IF YOU USE THE BATMAN SKIN! it was really hard to work out what your post was using the standard viewer, but yep. I think its a silly price, but if some sad American collector with more cash than sense wants it, good on the seller. I havn't been able to get classic paradiso sets for my daughter as the prices have been bid way over my limit by crazy yanks as some sets were not available over there. Jof
