  1. 16x16 is a little bit more managable, but I reckon the majority of people have got many more 32x32 baseplates in stock, as opposed to 16x16's. If enough 16x16's are around, I have no problem with using them for the wall/fence sections as you displayed, but the main modules will need larger bases. Also, Black Rabbit, your hillside method is very interesting, but I just can't see every module incorporating it. A whole lot of pieces would be needed to raise every baseplate a couple of bricks, plus only a few modules could really show the underground features. Though I would love to see a raised section of the town or fence. Maybe one corner of the fence could be a 32x32, allowing the soil level to raise and then lower itself again into the next module. I the idea of using the higher ground for lookouts, distant contact stations, astronomy etc.
  2. Ok, the poll is up. @Black Rabbit: Sure, start building wall sections so everyone can see exactly what we're trying to do. @ISC: This is still in the discussion/planning stage. Once the factors leading to our build are established, then we decide what to build, how many modules etc. It would be great to see some modules from you!
  3. Just some figs to help me get in the spirit for the EB Apocalyptic Community Build, and to test out a new background. Apocagoodies: Apocaneutrals And, some Apocabaddies: I'll probably scribble down a backstory later. ;) Thanks for looking!
  4. Ooooh, discussion has begun! I'll wait a few more days to put up the poll, so a few more can submit their ideas. Its clear we only need to vote on a few things: Cause, Location (not country, in a town, city, desert etc.), People. The time period seems agreed upon. Thanks for all the support so far!
  5. This looks great! I love the castle ruins, especially that ready-to-collapse front wall You were right in the discussion topic. The mix of brown with tan works almost too well! Can't wait to see more like this in the Community Build.
  6. Know what this is all about? Now you do. Alright. If this is goin' somewhere, we have to settle some dust. Firstly, i'd like everyone to post their preferred situations, since we all have clashing opinions. When we have enough different ones, a poll will be made to decide which road to take. I guess i'll go first. Remember, these are all just things we would like to see ourselves. None of these posts are laid in stone. Setting/year: Not too distant future. Sometime in the next 2 or 300 years. It will allow the use of Town/City pieces and torsos aswell as Spacey ones. I think the town has been going for around 2 years since the cause, so really only newcomers would be in ragged clothing. Cause: Accidental/Y2K-esque, not a war. To me, it just adds a whole lot more mystery, and there won't be any cursing of other countries for starting the war. Area: A small town from before the cause (not a booming city with skyscrapers) just a civil suburb, mostly in ruins with a couple of well kept buildings. The ground colour is hard for me to choose. I have a fair collection of both tan and brown, but at the moment, neither would suffice for several modules. So, either tan or brown/reddish brown. Buildings: A school converted into a town hall, small houses, a large ruined building now used as a gatehouse (part of the surrounding wall, remember the castle build), some type of Barn/farmhouse, sheriff's office/home Features (could take up baseplates, or just be small things you'd like to see) : A rotting sports field whose seating has been converted into homes, a house or other small building used as a part of the wall/fence, craters, and of course... Recycling. No, not green bins everywhere, but reusing objects for a different purpose than their original. The wall will have the best signs of this, but i'd like to see it all over. People: I really don't see a problem with having mutants, once they're not in every module. Cyborgs/robots/humanoids/whatever you want to call them also sound good to me. And I can see some great uses for them. Military presence...well, considering the cause i've chosen, I reckon there may be some presence. Maybe they're mapping out the area, supplying aid, or just lost. I just don't want to see the town overrun with tanks, flying machines, and soldiers in every module. Scenes (interesting scenes you think could be put in somewhere) : A gang attempting to breach a weak section of the wall (from the outside of course) Well, I guess thats it. Feel free to write as little or as much as you want. And now, I gotta go PM everyone.
  7. Hmm. You mean everyone who is interested sends me a Pm containing their ideas? I don't think that would work. It would take away all of the discussion, meaning it would just be me deciding everything, which is the last thing I want to happen. Nope, i'm quitting this tomorrow. Heck, once I finish my current project, I have nothing else planned. Frankly, i'm building a Post-Apoc town whether you guys help or not. I just thought i'd put it forward as a community build project. So yes, i'm game, until this thing is completed. Now then, i'll post the topic asking y'all to post your ideas later today (really, I will ), then i'll PM each person who has posted in this topic, to notify them. When we get enough different ideas/situations we'll put it to a vote.
  8. Good, i'll start a new thread soon (maybe tonight) posting my prefered situation, and asking others to post their's. But, anyone else who's interested, please continue posting here.
  9. Ahh, yet another opinion clash. I had thought about a more simple "Y2K" ish cause. I never really liked the idea of there being a war, then one side just suddenly uses nukes and BAM, the war's over. Clearly, the cause is a large part of discussion. Thanks for showing your support. We would be very glad to have whatever you can provide. You haven't missed anything yet my friend. This is just the first topic, gathering support. When we're ready, plans will be drawn up and the building can begin. Thanks for the support Perterz. I just thought of making a wall around the city, trying to link it with the Castle-Build as much as I could. I guess they would be protecting themselves from anything really. Your other questions are matters which we'll be discussing (hopefully very soon). Though, may I ask, why did you choose dark blue in your preferred colour settings? Sounds interesting Great to hear cagri. I too wanted to be a part of the Castle project, but was way too busy. This time however... :skull: Agreed. I reckon if we keep it closer to the near future setting, we can make use of any Modern pieces (minifigs), but also use plenty of Sci-Fi stuff. Yes, discussion is needed. I quite know how we can just agree on something. I was thinking, in a new topic, we each post our preferred setting. Several should have overlapping features, but thats the point, we need to agree. Then, I could start a Poll (which will be clearer, but who knows how many people will just vote for the sake of it), or ask everyone to post whose idea they like the best, obviously not their own. I dunno, something like that might work. Anyone else? Ideas on how to share and care and then agree on something?
  10. A Band of Psychotic Hunters begin their quest to exterminate a select race from each of their surrounding planets. First up, The Floreans. Resistance is minimal, though every case reported had drastic results. This was just something small to keep me busy 'till the big one can be completed, and a test with the whole posing thing. Thanks for looking!
  11. Good to hear you're interested Aramor. Indeed. You're supply of pieces should be the last of your worries. Every little helps (dang Tesco ads ). Well, that certainly was a few questions. These are all matters which we can't quite decide upon yet. I'll add some of those to the poll, but personally, I think the main basis should be Nuclear Apocalypse. It just offers the most features (irradiated people/craters, toxic waste, building's paint jobs affected). Zombies are a little too controversial, so they can go in the poll. Personally, I think there should be some kind of cannibalistc race (possibly contained and used for labor, like in Shaun of the Dead), but a full blown outbreak would take the focus away from other interesting details of the town. And a storyline? How do you mean? The events that lead to the Apocalypse? The tale of a survivor/several survivors? The story of the town, how it was founded, who decided to fortify it? Cool. Just like the Castle Build. When we've gathered enough support, some of us will draw up a map of each building/site contained in the town. If there are many, we may split into teams just like the Castle Build. We'll then decide what the wall should look like. As I said, it will be makeshift, and not uniform. But each section should still have roughly the same height and appearance. Then we all choose which section we think we can make, without arguing . Those look very good, glad to see you're eager to build. Though, we still need more people to discuss many factors (your earlier questions) such as the presence of Military, or Military aid. Personally I would like there to be as little as possible, maybe just a marooned soldier. But as I said, these all need to be discussed before any Bricks can be laid. Ok, we'll need to start a new topic for a new poll. Adding new questions means those who have already answered cannot answer the new ones. Thanks for the support so far everyone.
  12. This should really be moved to the MCW. You really ought to visit the Brickarms Forums before making statements like that. The m1 was a Clone Brand piece, never roduced by the company. Will's supplkier ran out, hence he had to stop selling them. You should also see that its not quite 30 guns and 5 accessories Will has in store for us.
  13. 9. Throw confetti and show them where the cameras are.
  14. Interesting. Sorta like Mustafar, in SW EP3.
  15. Ooohh. Some interest already. Very glad to hear you're interested Thrash. I hoped one of the Castle builders would see this. Yes, if we do get enough participation, i'd love to see your help in the mapping out, and of course the building sections. Thanks for showing your support mikey. As this is just an idea (at the moment ) don't worry about being busy just yet. If this kicks off, i'm sure you're first Apoc themed creation would help out a lot. Thanks Danny. Hmmm. For the first two problems: Bricklink order, Now! And as for the images, check the Tutorials Section If and when you feel you can participate, please do. I've added a poll to make things a little more interesting 'round here. I should be able to finish up my current projects within two weeks. Then i'll probably start small... like a simple house... house blown to pieces.
  16. I'm guessing this is where we post ideas. Well, something came into my head, so I might as well. ApocaMafia. A group of survivors living in a lightly populated rebuilt town in the middle of nowhere constantly find themselves under attack from raiding gangs. The gate protecting the town holds back everything else, but this gang always makes it in to pillage what they can. Someone must be opening the gate for them. It is your job to figure out who is letting the gang in every time they raid the town. (In other words, kill off the gang members living within the gate). Each member will have a role in town, but there'll also be information on them from before the Apocalypse. Alright alright, ain't much to it. Just an idea. But hey, i've only played in one. So I best try and join whatever's on next.
  17. Ok, hear me out. (I always find myself saying that ) Last night I thought about building a small Apocalyptic town. Lightly populated, but still something on the crater-filled map. The main features I wanted to make were: - A school turned into a town hall, - A makeshift wall protecting the entire town with a large gate, - A street with a row of semi-destroyed houses, - Possibly Modular sections. Thinking about it all night, it won't be too hard to make (when all other projects are done), but thats when I remembered the coolest thing I had seen on this site: The EB Community Castle Build. Which kept me thinking about the town, and how much it could resemble a Castle (surrounding wall, central building - school, several different communities living together). As for organisation/standards, this would have many advantages, such as: - The wall is makeshift (its hardly uniform), - A Modern to futuristic setting (so much more is available than at Medieval times, i.e. vehicles converted into homes) - Buildings are not as uniform (most will have damage, some completely rebuilt from total destruction) - Damaged buildings offer an insight to interior (holes in the wall expose whats inside) So, anyone have any positive opinions? Anybody interested, at all? Of course this is just an idea, so don't go telling me how much it won't work. And anyone who isn't familiar with the Castle Build, please read it. Otherwise you will take this in a completely different way. Well, thanks for reading!
  18. Lemme tell ya. If you're liking Experiment #14, you are gonna love this. When its finished, of course. Mostly done, but I may need a Bricklink order to top it off. Thanks for looking!
  19. Oooohhh, we get to rant! :skull: I enjoyed the game. Found it very entertaining at times. Though, there was one thing I didn't get: In Little Lamplight Caverns, (you know with the kids) theres a few holotapes which say those kids were there when the bombs fell. But I thought this war was like 200 years ago, as others in the game tell you. I thought about it, and I know people have left the caverns, as they grew up. But are those kids the offspring of those who have already left? Or have they been smoking for 200 years, not grown an inch, and somehow survived that long? And here's the Blowing Up of Megaton (for anyone who never did it. I actually just made a new file the other day to do this)
  20. No not at all. 'Tis all in good fun! BTW, are you thinkin' of making any of those sets? (I hate being lured back into the City and Mob theme every few months )
  21. The O'Reilly's had to own a tavern, didn't they? But whoah, I would seriously buy all of these. Can you imagine those impulses? And love the fig/story.
  22. "Hey man, get back here! The guy said to stay here Goddamnit!" "Oh man, what the hell was that! Poor Jeff, damn that stupid treasure hunter." "Whoah." "How in the hell did the boat get here?... ...and why is the cargo bay open?! Oh man, somethin's messed up... ...huhh, I'll just wait here for the others." "Alright, we gotta get to that cave. Clearly this place ain't safe." "Yeah, but we're gonna have to go through, the trees." To be continued. Thanks for looking!
  23. "Hey, c'mere a minute." "What?" "Whattayou think that... wait, was he even human?" "I dunno. What were you sayin'?" "Ehh, what do you think he meant by surviving." "Heck, I have no idea. But man am I gettin' hungy." "Same here. We better rest for a while." "1...2...3... Hey, wheres Jeff?" "MMMMAHHH GOD GET IT OFF ME! HELMMMMM" "What-the, Jeff!?" "Jeff?" "Holy Shi-!" "What the hell!" "Christ! I'm outta here!" To be continued. Thanks for looking, and thanks for the comments so far.
  24. We'll miss ya Mike. Rest In Peace. Indeed. I wondered a few years back who the new generation of radio and telivision dominators would be. Seems i'll be getting an answer soon enough.
  25. "Man I am sick of this crap." "Oh yeah, whats that?" "Workin' as guards for some treasure hunter who ain't got the slightest idea where he's goin'." "Relax gentlemen. We'll be there soon." "Ah! Here we are." "Wha'? This doesn't look like any cave I've ever seen." "Yeah, whats the deal?" "Gentlemen. I am afraid there is no treasure." "Then why are we here. What are we doing?" "You are now a part of an Experiment. Number 14 to be exact. This is to help prepare future generations for a disaster that is going to happen within the century." "Errr, do we still get paid?" "Oh my yes. Double, in fact. But only if you survive." "Survive!? Survive what? What are you talking about?" "I'm afraid I cannot say. No information can be given, only some reccomendations. 1, Do not, I repeat: Do not return to the boat. It has been shipwrecked, and is also now the most dangerous place on the island. 2, There is a cave, that was not a lie. We suggest you either stay right here, or head to the cave. Though we can't reveal where it is." "And now I must leave." "Wha', why can't we leave? How are you gonna get outta here?" "Trust me gentlemen, you do not want to leave in the same way I am." "Whoah!" "Oh shi"!" "What-the-hell!" "What in God's name is going on here..." To Be Continued. Just to be clear, the voice with standard black text is the man in Tan with the brown Fedora, since there really is no tan text, and it is the backdrop of this forum. Thanks for looking!
