  1. Let's hope Lego website or Amazon UK will bring them out soon. I can't see the pre-order pages but does it say what date the shipping is?
  2. I doubt that very much. There are loads of ships and iconic buildings that Lego hasn't made into sets. I still wonder to this day how it is possible that the Jedi Temple hasn't been made into a set. It also presents a perfect opportunity to include some cool Jedi minifigs.
  3. Just got Princess Leia (7965) and R3PO on Bricklink which were the last of the 2011 minifigs that I was missing. Roll on 2012 wave..
  4. That's because Outrider is a different model of the same ship made by the same company. And it is within the same century. But for a ship made 4000+ years ago to be so similar to the current ones is a blatant rip off and a laziness of developer's imagination. To make it worse it's not just one ship but a number of them.
  5. Personally I only buy what I like and if there is something I like I most certainly want to display it so that I can see it. I just bought the SSD and loved putting it together but most of all love having it on display. There is no way on earth that I would spend £100+ on a set and then just store it away. It makes no sense unless you get a kick from the fact that you know you own something. As far as the dust excuse goes I dont care much for it. Dust isnt going to eat the Lego away. If it gathers dust that dust can certainly be cleaned quite easily, especially nowadays when there are fancy tools to do it. The majority of people that I know who buy items and keep them unboxed, do so with the intention of selling them back in the future to make a profit. If the items sold are not limited editions (like Lego SW sets) I have no issue with that because everyone was allowed a fair chance to buy one, but when it comes to limited editions (like the SWTOR collectors edition game) then I do object to what some unscrupulous individuals do.
  6. With inconsistencies like that its no wonder that some authors stopped writing for EU. If Lego decides to make a set based on the game I hope they do include an old Jedi or Sith in there. It would be the perfect opportunity.
  7. The designs for most of these ships seem to be inspired from one or another of the current famous ships. The Mantis is like the Jedi starfighter, Fury is like a squashed Tie, Thunderclap looks like an X-wing missing its nose and with the wings glued on one side, the Defender looks like an A-wing has grown horns, the Freighter is so obvious that is inspired by Millenium Falcon, and I cant link the Phantom to anything yet but it looks like it has MonCal origins. However the Defender is definitely my favorite one.
  8. Used this offer and got mine a week or so ago. GF and I built it over three evenings. It looks absolutely superb. It is indeed even more impressive in "flesh" than what it looks in the pictures. £350 is a bit expensive considering that 4Lom and Zuckus minifigs are not included. However thanks to the offer above it worked out at £300 shipped which is more bearable. The only criticism from me is the use of ring binding method for the instructions which is flimsy and unsuitable for an item this size and the fact that the "legs" are not very securely fixed on the underside of the ship (which is a shame considering that the ship itself is very sturdy). Other than that the model is very well executed and I certainly don't regret buying it. I definitely welcome future Lego releases of ships this size. Oh and this is definitely a sculpture and not a toy.
  9. I usually welcome every SW figurine that Lego makes and don't mind how much detailed printing they have or what color they are but when it comes to robes made of cloth even I draw the line. Pauldrons and capes the way they are now are fine but anything else would be overkill and destroy the unique feeling that every Lego figurine has. As a matter of fact out of all the SW figurines Lego has made the Ventress with a cloth skirt is the only one that I am not keen on.
  10. Lego could actually make the extra effort and make a Jawa with light-up eyes (using similar technique that they used with light up lightsabers).
  11. I think the difference in opinion is because we might be looking at it from two different points of view. I'm mainly a minifigure collector and as such a new character is always welcome no matter how long it has appeared in the movies. In all honesty even if I weren't I wish Lego stopped including Darth Vader, Leia, Han, Luke, Obi and R2 in the sets for a few years. Those minifigs have been done and redone to death over the years.
  12. Personally I think that evolution is inevitable and necessary. I love the new minifigures with all their details. The detailing on the minifigs is a consequence of advances in printing technology. And the flesh color is better than yellow in my opinion. Like in all areas of life though there's always going to be those who "yearn the old ways" and find it difficult to accept change.
  13. Why would he have to have new molds for all his parts? Lego could basically use the legs and body used for Watto and make a new mold that goes over them just like they did for Watto. Personally I would have a new minifigure (even if it is obscure) rather than have a minifigure which we have already got.
  14. Just got the Super Star Destroyer with the latest offer from Lego, 10% off + VIP points (which translates to £50 off), so got it for a nice £300 plus the exclusive Christmas set for free. Woohoo. And need 3 more minifigures (Leia 7965, Watto, R3PO) from completing my entire minifigure collection.
  15. If the sandtroopers are too dirty get a bar of soap and wash them a bit. If the sandtroopers are not dirty enough then just roll them in a bit of mud. The reason for the commando droids being brown is because of the particular reflection of the sun's rays in the system they were fighting at the time when the Lego employees were asking them to pose for some pictures. Does that make everyone happy?
  16. In that case it looks like the Double VIP points offer sounds like the best I'm going to get. That translates to £35 to spend on other sets.
  17. Anyone knows anything about these questions? Please?
  18. I think Lego could actually use the Planets series as an opportunity to release new minifigures which can't be included in any particular sets. It will make collectors like myself very very happy and it will ensure that these sets "fly off the shelves".
  19. I was wondering the same. And the person has posted on several threads the same thing. Increasing the post count I suppose
  20. It's a beautiful set that I intend to get for display purposes as well as for the minifigures. I believe Lego should have included a lot of translucent blue pieces in this set in order to simulate the lights on the ship. On a set this big and especially this flat introduction of a second color would have broken down a bit its monotonous appearance. That would have definitely made this set worth every one of its price's pennies. @dcflake: would it kindly be possible for you to measure the width and height of this set whilst on its stand please? I'm trying to find out how high and deep the displaying cabinet would need to be. I'm definitely buying this set, however I think I will wait to see if it goes on offer first or get it for cheaper from ebay. Does anyone know if Lego historically tends to put offers on in the period after Christmas (January time)?
  21. We have just got a new Maul minifig and it is as CW as it will get?
  22. They come, they hate, but they all buy them. Not sure how to say that in Latin
  23. I remember a few weeks back one of those nice Lego employees that posts here now and again said that in 2012 one of the sets is basically being released for the last time and it won't be made again for many years to come. Would the Y-wing be that set or is it probably one of the second wave sets that we don't know about yet?
  24. Does anyone know how wide is the Super Star Destroyer at its widest point please?
