  1. I've got bits of everything, some like Atlantis I was merely interested in the parts (all those lovely white 2x2 round bricks with grills) and there are some which I'm more interested in than others (Pirates, Star Wars, Technic and the Modular buildings) but that doesn't stop me picking up others if I like the look of them. Of course there are others like NinjaGo and Hero Factory that I can't find any enthusiasm for at all, but that's to be expected. Thankfully I'm not the sort who feels the need to have a complete set, so I can happily skip sets if I don't like them.
  2. It is, http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?G=3840 - maybe you were looking at the wrong version of the slope (there are 2 very similar parts)
  3. I can only think of two, both in 'no skill required' raffle contests. One of which I won. So I guess I'm 50% awesome at 'no skill' building.
  4. Thing is, at that size it's going to be an expensive set. Nothing is going to change that. And the people concerned primarily about cost are probably the people least likely to buy it anyway. So I'm not convinced that compromising something that high end product customers would buy to improve the appeal to the more general customers is an entirely wise idea. And I don't really like the 'you can just MOD it' argument. If I were as good as TLG's designers, I'd probably be doing that for a living, or at the very least would have already made my own. I'm just not that good and it's doubtful I ever will be, so MODing it is unlikely to end up with a great result.
  5. As someone who falls firmly into the 'UCS Customer' bracket (but still loves System sets and minifigs) I'd be gutted if they've ruined the exterior appearance of the SSD just for the sake of putting a 'scene' on the interior. I'm reserving judgement till I've seen better pictures, but keeping my fingers crossed as this is the one UCS model I've always wanted TLG to do and after the beautiful 10212 I was hoping for something really special.
  6. Neither of those are currently available and there isn't a click-hinge version that can be considered a replacement. You'll have to get a bit creative to substitute for those.
  7. You could just use 2x4 tiles and then construct whatever is needed to hold them in the correct place behind the sign.
  8. You might have issues if you install the 64-bit version of Office, but Microsoft recommend that you use the 32-bit version, even on a 64-bit OS, unless you have very specific needs such as very large and complex spreadsheets.
  9. Maybe a TLG rep had seen just how bad the third movie was and so decided it wasn't worth it.
  10. No problem, fantastic work managing to build it from that rather fuzzy video!
  11. Your colours are a tad off (Dark Tan is Sand Yellow, Tan is Brick Yellow) and the seaweed pieces can be found in the minifig section. I've put a fixed version on my Brickshelf for you: LXF File
  12. No, Modulex pieces are too small to attach to ordinary Lego bricks - the two systems are not compatible at all.
  13. The stickers also came in the 250 Idea Book from the same year, maybe you had that?
  14. And therein lies the problem of a "nearly complete" set. If the missing pieces are the rare ones, it's pretty much worthless. If the missing pieces are common ones, you'll lose a lot of value unecessarily because people will generally prefer complete sets. In fact, if the missing pieces aren't too expensive, I'd consider replacing them with parts from Bricklink first, especially if you still have the box and instructions. I don't think there were any 3 leaf plants in it though, were there?
  15. Well I bought Fallingwater, as I pretty much have all the current SW sets except the AT-AT, Tantive IV, Death Star and Cad Bane's thing: none of which were appealing enough to fork out for just to get a black clone fig. It did still get added to the order though, then went to backordered and today I got a mail saying they're sending a Boba Fett Keyring instead. I'm not too fussed though, I'm more looking forward to the Jack Sparrow one that comes with preordering the Lego PotC game.
  16. Whilst it has cleaner lines, I think that sign looks far too big and extravagent for a small pet shop. I doubt you find many small stores with such excessive signage in the real world.
  17. I don't think so. The issue with trans minifigs, as I understand it, is that the way the arms and legs need to connect would cause the weaker plastic used for transparent parts to crack. Skeleton bodies don't suffer in the same way as the arms and legs connect using ordinary clip joints.
  18. I'm not so sure, 10197 is pictured on the box and TLG generally don't like to advertise sets that aren't going to be available. Which would imply that Fire Brigade is going to be around for a while yet. Er, both Fire Brigade and Green Grocer are 32 studs wide, as this will be. FB just looks fatter because it's not quite as tall. Personally I really like this one, it's not quite as majestic a building but there are a lot of little details that just make the set. I really love the way they've made that paint roller, very clever and unusual use of parts.
  19. If I were a parent (and I'm not) I might well feel a lot more comfortable letting my kids use a site I knew was being heavily moderated by TLG rather than letting them randomly browse around on Flickr or Brickshelf. Even more so if I weren't an AFOL parent. And as a kid who grew up with a big tub of second-hand Lego for the most part, I reckon I'd have been ever so excited by the idea of something like this that would not only get me more parts but also show some different types of building ideas.
  20. Well we don't know that it was Amy's daughter, only that there was a photo of Amy holding a baby. It's possible she was holding someone else's baby I guess. As for River, it seems to have been established at some point (not sure when) that her meetings with the doctor are in reverse order, so the first time he kisses her will be the last time she kisses him, from her point of view. Series is stating off really well so far, although I have a feeling it'll end with a typical 'change the past so it didn't happen the same way' thing to circumvent the death of the doctor.
  21. It's possible it was a mistake, it's equally possible that a couple of them came in as returns and were just stuck up on the website with a big discount to quickly get rid of them because nobody wants to keep the last couple of a dead SKU sitting around. And, depending on how the site is built, it's equally possible that they may have been available for longer than the 5 minute intervals you poll if the contents of the sales page is not updated instantly. It may of only taken a few customers checking out the 'trains' page to have sold the items before the cached sales page was invalidated. Whatever the case, I very much doubt it was some malicious attempt to look like they sell items cheaper than they do, it just doesn't make sense to do that with end of life products.
  22. If you mean these ones then yes they're from the Collectible Minifigures. They're blind packaged so you can't see what you'll get (though you can usually 'feel' what it is if the store let you), but in any case there is always one stand in every pack. I'd imagine it's an awful lot cheaper to get them from Bricklink if you aren't into collecting the figures and want a reasonable quantity though.
  23. There's also another (arguably nicer) model of a rose in the Design By Me sample models that ship with Lego Digital Designer.
  24. It's for both. Agreed about wrong time of the year though, I've spent far too much on Lego in the toys'r'us 3 for 2 sale this weekend.
