Okay, well I'm glad we got that cleared up.
-
I never said you were wrong and I never said you were right! All I am saying is that no one will ever win this argument because no one will ever admit that their idea is wrong and thus it is pointless! Not to continue the argument, but how is a tank from WWII modern?
-
Okay, I'm not sure if you just like being contrary for the sake of argument or what, but everyone knows that you will never admit that you are wrong (when I say wrong I mean wrong about the Lego company ever making a tank or some other modern military machine). So why continue this pointless argument?
-
Well I'm pretty sure it is endorsed by the LEGO company because it is on display in one of their stores... But anyway, this argument is completely arbitrary. Both sides have valid points, but no matter what either of you say neither of you will ever admit that you are wrong. So just DROP IT!

What about Power Miners, a ressurection of Rock Raiders, and Space Police III a ressurection of, well, Space Police?
-
Don't worry, I'm sure there is still plenty of room for another review I'm glad that you like this set! Its one of my favorites from the Space police III line.

I know this set has been out for a while now but it wasn't until a couple of days ago that my local Target store finally put out all of their summer 2009 sets. Seeing as it hasn't been reviewed yet (I think), I decided to buy it and post a review. Name: Space Truck Getaway Set Number: 5972 Theme: Space Police III Year: 2009 Pieces: 282 Minifigs: 2 Price: $29.99 US Box, Parts and Instructions The front of the box, depicting the usual box art and wanted criminal poster Back of the box depicting functions of the set (flick-fire missle, crate opening, and swinging laser turret) Inside the box we have 4 numbered bags, a medium sized instruction manual, and a sticker sheet. The Instructions, as usual, have the same image as the front of the box. Random page: Contents of the box: Sticker sheet: (Sorry for the blur) I think there are about 18 stickers, but they really make the set look better. Parts De-bagged: lots of yellow, bley and black. Pieces of interest: The new flame piece, technic wings, and big yellow panel are new to me Minifigs Our minifig cast: Snake and Space Cop with reversable head Space Cop Back without helmet and jetpack: Space Cop Side with helmet, jetpack and flick-fire missle launcher: Snake Front: Snake Front without helmet: Snake Back: Snake's Awsome Helmet: (it deserves its own picture) The Build We start off with building the frame that will hold up the container and the cab of the space truck Here is what it looks like at the end of the first bag: Next we build the container and add on some detail to the space truck End of bag two: Oh, and it opens to reveal a stolen laser turret The crate is attached to four of those plates with technic pin holes and then is attached via technic pins to the frame The final stage of the build adds on the thruster engines: I wouldn't want to get hit by that space truck Oops, I spoke to soon... Top View: The Space truck has quite a large wing-span. Back view: Bottom View: As you can see, the bottom of the container is open. Close up on graffiti: And the other side: Close up of laser turret: Notice the vandalized police signs and the control panel piece View of the cockpit from behind: The Back of the cockpit isn't closed and is flush with the front wall of the container. Snake cant reach the steering wheel because he has to lay back in the cockpit because of the low ceiling. I guess he drives with his feet Extra Pieces: Lots of studs and cheese slopes! Bonus Pics!!! Flick-Fire Missle VS Laser Turret Crime Doesn't Pay, Just Ask SNAKE'S Face Final Thoughts When I first saw this set in the prelim pics I didn't really like it. The entire set is pretty much taken up by a huge, ugly, yellow crate, and the truck looked like it didn't even have space for a cockpit. However, after learning more about it and seeing it in person, I really like it. I even think that it is one of the best sets in the space police III line. I love the design of the truck; it looks like a rugged semi-truck beefed up for space travel. All the little details on the engines and the cab of the truck and the sticker designs really add to the overall feel of the set. The idea of the set is really neat. A band of space criminals steal a storage crate containing top-secret police technology and use it against the police themselves. The swiveling function of the laser turret and the way the crate opens up are really cool. I would definitly recommend this set. Ratings: Minifigs- 8/10 Two minifigs in a $30 set is expected and the minifigs are pretty nice, although they are very common in the Space Police III lineup. The printing on the legs and front and back of the torsos is very detailed and snake's helmet is a must have. Parts- 10/10 282 pieces is just about right as far as the piece to price ratio goes, especially compare to other $30 sets. The piece selection is nice and many new pieces appear in this set. Playability- 9/10 Although it would be nice to have a vehicle for the space cop, there are tons of possibilities as far as playability goes. For example, the cop could pull over the space truck and then get surprise-attacked by the "precious cargo." Price- 10/10 You definitly get your money's worth for this set. Good amount of parts. Good amount of minifigs. Overall- 9/10 Definitly worth buying Thanks for reading! comments, questions and picture requests would be appreciated!

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009

Thanks for the pictures of the Underground Mining Station docterdark! It looks pretty cool. I've been waiting to see close-up pictures of this set since it was first announced. It looks like there are hardly any stickers and all the control pieces are printed. Still, it doesn't look like it is worth $80, but it does look pretty good. -

I'm sure that by this point everyone has seen enough pictures of the 8709 Underground Mining Station, but for those still interested I found this official picture of the box on the TRU website: Here is a link to 8709 on the TRU website -
NOoooooo!!! All my folders are gone! And just when I was about to post a picture! Soooo frustrating... Oh well, it will all be better in the morning.

You obviously don't know a lot about Lord of the Rings if you think that the only thing it's about is war and violence. If LOTR became a LEGO theme, which it most likely won't (but who knows, with the end of the starwars lisense and the hobbit movies coming out), TLC would definitly down-grade the violence, just like they did with starwars. But anyway, lets try to keep this thread on topic.

As a huge LOTR fan I have thought about LEGO LOTR many times myself. I enjoyed reading your list of set ideas and many of those ideas have also crossed my mind. However, as many other people have discussed, most of these sets would just be way to massive to be made in minifigure scale (at least at a reasonable price). I was thinking that sets like Helmsdeep, which would be too big to be released as one set, should be release as multiple, smaller sets. Helmsdeep would become: Helmsdeep Gate Defence: Includes Helmsdeep's main gate with stone projectiles, the stone ramp leading up to it and the hidden door in the wall next to the gate. Minifigures: 2 Rohan peasant warriors, 3 Uruk engineers with battering ram and 1 urukhai warrior. -$35 The Deeping wall: Includes a section of the deeping wall and a mechanism that makes a section of the wall explode. Minifigures: 1 uruk engineer carrying large metal explosive, 1 uruk crossbowman, 1 uruk berserker with ladder, Legolas and Gimli. -$35 The Hornburg: Includes the main keep and courtyard outside of the keep with statues, the tower of the hornburg, the secondary walls around the courtyard, and a small armory with weapons. Minifigures: King Theodon, Aragorn, 2 riders of rohan, 4 horses, 1 uruk engineer with ballista, 3 urukhai warriors. -$100 The Glittering Caves: Includes section of the glittering caves on an 8 by 16 baseplate (with lots of shiny crystals), and supply crate with food. Minifigures: Eowyn, Rohan child. -$10 Rohan Battle Pack: Includes Gandalf, Shadowfax, Eomer on horseback, 1 Rider of Rohan, 1 Rohan bowman, 1 rohan peasant warrior, and supply crate w/ tent. -$20 Urukhai battlepack: Includes 1 Uruk berserker, 3 urukhai warriors, 2 uruk crossbowman, 1 uruk engineer, supply crate with weapons, Isengard banner. -$20 Grand total: $220 However with this approach many of the sets on your list would have to be cut. It is a shame that LEGO LOTR will probably never happen; it would be the perfect combination. By the way, I think I remember seeing a megabloks LOTR set several years ago at TRU; it was really pathetic.

Ummm..... what does this have to do with LEGO? Doesn't SouthParkStudios.com have there own forums? All that aside, I am a huge fan of southpark! (but then again who isn't?) In fact I watched 3 episodes today on SouthParkStudios.com; Super Best Friends, Scott Tenorman Must Die, and Kenny Dies.

Mmmmm Chrome! The rock monster has discovered a chrome tomb underground and the power miners must stop him from eating the all powerful chrome crystal. (Notice the Rock Raiders' drill making a cameo) More Pictures when moderated

Power Miners: New Sets for 2009

Does anybody know how much the underground mining station is going to cost? -
I don't know about everyone else, but I really like your entry JimButcher It looks like an authentic Indy vehicle! I love your use of Indy pieces, and it definitly looks like an X-Wing I'm not sure exactly how the voting system is going to work, but you definitly have part of my vote

Nice work My entry is modeled after an AT-RT as well I like the viking shields and the weapon on the front. The front part really looks like an AT-RT.

Thank you to everyone for the great feedback!

There should be a background story underneath the first picture. I can make it longer if you want.

Hi! I'm dabulls03 and I live in the state of Oregon in the USA. Here is my story... When I was a child I was in LOVE with LEGO. I had 5 massive bins of LEGO pieces and all I ever got for my birthdays and christmas were LEGO sets. I spent all my time building various creations and building, taking apart, and rebuilding LEGO systems' sets. Around the age of 12, my obsession with LEGO decreased, and a long LEGO drought occured. It wasn't until the beggining of 2009, when I saw the cover of one of my younger brothers LEGO club magazines, that my obsession caught fire again. As I glanced over at the cover of the magazine, I saw a lime green vehicle with a massive, rotating drill starring me in the face. "Oh My God!!! Its a reincarnation of ROCK RAIDERS!" I thought as I looked at the cover. Immediatly, I had a flash back of my childhood days playing with one of my most favorite LEGO themes of all time. I flipped through the issue and admired many more awsome mining vehicles, and yes, cute litttle rock monsters too! I had to know more about this awsome new LEGO theme titled POWER MINERS. And that is how I stumbled upon Eurobricks. Thank God for the internet. After lurking around for a couple months, I finally decided to become a member so that I could enter my Power miners inspired AT-RT into the invasion contest. The End

Here is my entry for the Invasion Contest: After hearing about the other LEGO themes' plans to take over the Star Wars universe, the Power Miners have decided that they want a piece of the action. Power Miner engineers have been working tirelessly on a vehicle that will be able to handle Star Wars environments, using building components from disassembled mining vehicles. The product of their tireless work is the Power Miner's own all-terrain-recon-transport, which has been sent on several scouting missions. It has proven a worthy advesary to the clones' AT-RT with its powerful laser-drill. Here is an image of the drill in action: Front View: Left: Right: Back: Top: Brickshelf folder Thank you for listening. By the way, this is my first post and entry on eurobricks!
