  1. I haven't seen the two larger Power Miners sets anywhere either, but the smaller two seem to be at all the retailers. Personally, I think that we will get the two larger Power Miner sets in the US, we'll just get them latter. I don't think that the two larger sets are supposed to be availible anywhere; just look on the LEGO website page for Power Miners, only the two small sets are listed.
  2. A great MOC for an equally great cause! It really shows how people come together in hard times. My school raised nearly 6000 dollars in one day. If everyone just gives a little bit, it can have a huge impact.
  3. Great review cralegoboy! When I frist saw this set I thought the little sub was very well designed, but now I see that it only looks good from certain angles. This seems to be a trend with Atlantis sets. The minifigs are nice, but the sharkman isn't as impressive as the other creature figs from Atlantis IMHO. None the less, I still think I will pick up this set. And you're right, Kit Fisto is definitly an Atlantian.
  4. Yeah I can't see them either, but it sounds really interesting... In fact I was thinking about doing something like this myself to show off all of my Power Miners sets.
  5. Ahh! Jak and Daxter! I've spent way too much time playing that game. I never would have imagined seeing this in LEGO. It doesn't seem like something that would work in LEGO very well, but you have done a fantastic job. The hellcat is my favorite; it's definitly the most iconic vehicle from the series in my opinion. The crimson guard minifigs are interesting too. It would be interesting to try to do some more accurate custom minifigs from Jak and Daxter in the future though. Other than that I don't know what else you could do in LEGO. Maybe the Sage's hut from the first game?
  6. Wow, those are some impressive custom figs YG-49! The body of the pale man reminds me of Snake's body from SPIII. The pale man has to be my favorite; he is so damn creepy... Vidal and the farmer with the smashed in face are also really cool. These figs really make me want to watch Pan's Labyrinth (I still haven't seen it).
  7. Speaking of sets that are nation specific, does anyone remember the Soccer World Cup theme from 10 years back? There was a soccer team bus that you could buy that came with stickers of the flags of the US, Canada, England, Australia, and Brasil. You could customize the players' jerseys and the sides of the bus with the flags of your country. As for TLG ever coming out with historic American scenes, I doubt it. Not because other countries would be offended, just because there wouldn't be very many people who would be interested, especially kids. Nation specific themes have worked before. For example, the NBA basketball theme and the NHL hockey theme in the US, although not huge successes, still sold and no one was offended.
  8. After reading your review, I think that this is probably the best Power Miners set from the January wave. It's probably the only new Power Miners set I would consider buying. This set has way better construction then Lavatraz, the color scheme is a little better, and there are a lot of good pieces included. I don't like the cockpit though; it doesn't look very protective and I don't like the lime green tubes on the sides. I agree with you that the new rock monsters are way more detailed than last years, but that's about the only thing this wave has to offer. Looking at the family portrait from your Lavatraz review, the old rock monsters look so dull in comparison to the new ones. I love the fact that there is a picture of the wiener on every side of the box, as if that is the only reason you should buy this set.
  9. Thanks for the great review, although I must admit I'm not crazy about this set. The only thing it has going for it is Eruptor, in all his glorious, fiery detail. The first time I saw this set in the prelim pictures, I thought it was Duplo or something, due to its horrible blocky construction and color scheme. Really TLC? Mixing huge metallic Bionicle pieces with LEGO elements? This new Power Miners wave doesn't have the same charm and quality as last years sets, but who knows, maybe it grows on you? Enough with the negative. The rock monster "family portrait" at the end was very enjoyable. Do you own every single Power Miners set, or did you just buy the figs individually? If so, do you think that the 8709 Underground Mining Station is a better set, because I didn't like it at first, but now I love and own it.
  10. Still, mid-December is earlier than most people were expecting, most people were thinking that Atlantis wouldn't come out until after Christmas. I personally think that some stores could have them by early December.
  11. On the back cover of the new LEGO club magazine there is an ad for LEGO Atlantis with the date November 24th 2009 It looks like we may be getting LEGO Atlantis sooner than we expected!
  12. I saw some of those at Target a couple weeks ago right next to the (If I dare say it) HALO Megabloks. K'NEX must be doing really bad as far as sales go if they have to give up on their original product and outright copy LEGO...
  13. To my knowledge I only have proffesor McGonagall. I'll definiltly try to snag a couple more dresses from the 2009 sets! By the way, great job on your collection. I didn't even know that some of these figures existed!
  14. I like the Greywolf light mech better. It reminds me of the goliath unit from starcraft. The details are exellent, but then again, who expects any less from Rabbitech. The level of detail you are able to fit into such a small space always impresses me.
  15. Starting in 2007, Vestas will put on four LEGO micro-shows that present Vestas turbines in different scenarios. Headlined “Wind is free”, Vestas turbines will be shown in offshore, city, desert and factory surroundings. The purpose of the airport show is to promote understanding of wind energy in a fun and educational way. In addition to the micro-shows, there will be a LEGO play table and Vestas videos, where children can play and learn about wind energy. The air show was launched at Los Angeles International Airport on 1 June 2007 and has now moved on to other selected U.S. airports. From 1 September the European version of the airport show was launched at Copenhagen Airport. In the autumn people will also be able to see the airport show at several other locations in Europe and Asia. -Vestas' description of the Vestas-LEGO Airport Show Last weekend I was at Portland International Airport's C-gate, getting ready to leave on a short, weekend holiday, when my little brother spotted this display hidden behind a coffee shop kiosk. After researching the display online, I was surprised that it had made its way to Portland, Oregon, USA, a relatively small, but environmentally friendly city. I understand that there is already a thread for the Vestas-LEGO Airport Show, (seen here), but I that thread is rather old, and I didn't want to revive an old thread. However, if a moderator feels the two threads should be merged, that is fine with me. On to the pictures! (Unfortunately, I only had my cell phone camera, so some of the pictures are quite blurry.) Some overview pictures of the display A rather blurry picture of the massive LEGO Statue of Liberty Display #1: Desert Overview pictures of the desert Close-up of the Vestas Jeep Camels carrying a wind turbine blade Display #2: Factory Factory overview Another view Factory interior Hang glider The Summit Display #3: Offshore Overview A sunken ship looking a lot like the 2009 Pirates Shipwreck Hideout Cool Helipad Wind Surfer Display #4: City This display is the best in my opinion. Overview Roof-top swimming pool Basket-ball court Pond enclosure My favorite detail; a robber being aprehended And finally, a kite flyer Don't forget to check the all important Brickshelf Folder (when moderated) for a couple extra pictures! Questions and comments are always welcome!
  16. Wow, I can't believe it took me this long to find out about your awsome comic KDog! And once I did, I couldn't help but read all 200 and however many pages of it! I love how you mix comedy, LEGO history, and great characters into one insanely entertaining comic! And I love your commentary at the end of each page
  17. The printed piece at the base of the tree is the top bun of plankton's robot Krabby Patty from 4981 Chumbucket Notice the sesame seed prints. The tan bananas are from 4767 Harry and the Hungarian Horntail I don't know what set the white plants/leaves are from though...
  18. Those triangle plates are quite hard to come by in any other color besides gray, but you could try putting some dark gray or green rectangular plates on top of the triangular ones. Now that I think about it, it does make more sense that the bucket would hold oil to help ignite the firewood. I always thought that it held water so that the fire could be put out.
  19. Wow, you sure are cranking out these LOTR MOCs quickly! And yet again you have created a very movie accurate model; It looks like this scene came right out of the movie. The bucket of water hanging over the beacon and the soldiers cooking chicken legs are great details straight from the film. I definitly think it is an improvement over your Osgiliath MOC My only suggestion would be to change the color of the beacon tower's roof just to make the scene a little more colorful. Also, I think there were only two soldiers guarding the beacon in the movie. Overall, nice job!
  20. Well lucky for me there weren't that many pieces so it was easy to identify what sets they went to. I too have just starting collecting LEGO again this year, and I plan on taking much better care of my new collection!
  21. I too have a hard time getting rid of LEGO pieces even if they are in horrible condition In fact, when I was helping my parents clean out their car, I found a bunch of old lego bricks covered in crud and melted crayon. I have cleaned some of them off, but it takes a really long time, and some of the melted crayon is impossible to get off. As for what I plan on doing with the pieces, I think I will try to rebuild the sets that the pieces go to. (I think they are from a StarWars mini AT-AT and a mini imperial shuttle) Usually i try to keep my damage/dirty bricks seperate from my clean ones.
  22. I'm going to have to agree with Jim Butcher and Commander Flash. I really don't understand why everyone seemed to hate The Kingdom of the Crystal Skull so much. Afterall, without KotCS we probably wouldn't have gotten LEGO Indiana Jones! But that aside, I still really liked the movie. The cinematography was great and the storyline really wasn't as bad as most people thought, even compared to the other three movies. Why does everyone hate aliens so much?
  23. Very nice decals you have there! What hairpiece do you plan on using for Bellatrix, or will you make a custom hairpiece? I can't think of any hairpieces that TLG has released that would look right
  24. Hurray! A LOTR MOC Well done, and it looks very movie accurate! I like the dwarve skeletons at the entrance and the mix between smooth dwarve architecture and rough ruined sections. This really makes me want to do a LOTR MOC
  25. Nice drawings you got there! The shading is really nice Is it just me, or does Dyna Mite have a major camel toe in the first drawing
