$50000! Thats insane. And I suppose all of them were for immediate payment That guy is probably sitting on a beach somewhere now with a bag full of cash and nothing to lose. -

Cool thanks for letting me know, Brickus. Seems like the prime time to be buying the Death Star for Aussies. Can't believe it has been out for about 4 years now. Thats four years of me trying to justify buying this or convincing myself I don't want it. Too long... -

Ah yes I did wonder if it was the difference between Amazon themselves and a third party. Thanks for the heads up about Brickmania. It was his sets I was looking at. Wasn't concerned about the creases so much-just want the set to make with my son :0) Brickmania has 8 so I will keep an eye on the dollar and how many he has left as the dollar climbs back up again. Cheers Inger Just out of interest - 3 Death Stars?! Wow! I find it so hard to justify purchasing one because of the price. I admire your commitment to the cause :0) I trust you have opened one to build? Cheers Inger -

I can't seem to get that price for the Death Star. When I put it in my cart they charge me 90 pounds shipping. There is a guy on bricklink selling them for $520 shipped though. -
Meh! Can't believe Lego is going for the different sized figures again-girls do like the minifig sized elements as well. My daughter often wants to play Lego with her brother. How can she do that with figures that look like giants? Perhaps girls generally aren't into the act of building as much as most boys, as someone else pointed out. Sure juniorize the sets a little but please Lego lets have some female minifig related sets. Inger

Managed to Layby a Diagon Alley, but they were all cleared out very quickly at Brisbane CBD Target as were the Hogwarts sets. Because of all the local sales action I haven't been looking online recently but today I dropped by the Barnes and Noble website and saw they had some new sets in. The Star Wars Frigate 7964 was on discount and with the shipping it ends up being $110 AUS shipped! If you join the kids club you can get 30% off (I think it's off the original price but still) which discounts it even further http://tinyurl.com/3g33wcw Shipping can take a while but I received all the sets I ordered in 2-4 weeks. I'm off to see what else they have Cheers -

In regards to my own question about whether Target will have the same pre-layby system as KMart, the answer is apparently yes. They just sent me an email to say I can pre-order as of next Wednesday 29th June. Same sort of system : pre-order online and then complete the layby process in store. Diagon Alley here I come! yay! -

Just put my Lego Shuttle Expedition on layby at KMart online for $129. All I have to do is drop into a store in the next 3 weeks and confirm it by putting down a deposit. Such a great service. I don't have a Kmart near me but really wanted the shuttle so this online system takes the stress out of it all. Does anyone know if Target does this as well? Would love to put a hold on a Diagon Alley if I could. Cheers Inger -

Took some photos of the Star Wars sets at Target over the weekend. They had all but the MF and the Sith Nightspeeder. http://www.thebricklife.com/new-star-wars-lego-sets-for-mid-2011/ I love this time of year, new sets and great deals Cheers Inger -

Hi I chose the cheapest option and they shipped each set separately. Got the second one yesterday and expecting the final one (castle) early next week. So far I'm very happy :0) Cheers Inger -

I received part of my B&N order yesterday (took just under two weeks). It was packaged well in an outer box with large-air-bubble protection (not sure if there is a word to describe this). It was Flo's V8 cafe and I payed $70 delivered (I didn't apply the 30% discount to this set). I am still waiting on the King's Castle which I applied the discount to (took it down to $60) but have received emails to say it is on the way. Hope you get your Mindstorm's kit. It was worth the risk for the $ saving and I will probably shop with them again if there are significant savings to be had, just no pre-orders. Cheers Inger -

Thanks for that Darth Draks. It is a good discount! Never heard of the site before either. Might be worth checking out for future discounts. Cheers -

Ah well thanks for all the new insights everyone, this issue has been on my mind a bit lately so this forum provided me with a little vent I'm not sure overall if it will keep most of my Lego purchases in Australia, though when and if I do shop local I support the smaller store rather than the multi-nationals (nice to see you here Outer Rim and thanks for your input). I would however love to see a slight reduction in the prices of Australian Lego considering we presently live in a worldwide market, no matter how dysfunctional that may be on a number of levels. If I can purchase it cheaper overseas, even while paying $50+ for shipping then there really has to be an issue there worth looking into for local Lego distributors and retailers-it doesn't serve either of them well. Cheers Inger -

I would love to hear the official line on this. I love Lego and want other parents to love Lego but most simply say it is too expensive, then go and buy something cheaper or go overseas. Local retailers must feel the pain here, especially those dedicated to supporting Lego and/or only selling Lego and nothing else. For me the last 10 or so sets I have bought have been from overseas (US, Korea, etc). The trouble is if I was paying US retail or even a little above I would be happy to buy locally as I recognize how tight a bind local retailers are in. Anyway rant over. Outer Rim, local Brisbane retailer, are having a sale http://www.outerrimtradingco.com.au/ with 25% off some sets including all the POTC sets. Not sure if it has been mentioned here yet. Cheers Inger -
Phew! Thanks for letting me know. I always get nervous sharing stuff here if I haven't seen it before. I did a search and couldn't find anything but you can never be too sure-its such a wealth of hidden info There is also the video for the Anakin and Sebulba's Podracer set 7962 as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NzVh9c2cVN4&feature=channel_video_title Cheers Inger

Hello Not sure if this has been mentioned before but the Official Lego TV commercial for the Star Wars Republic Frigate 7964 is on Youtube. It also features the Geonosian Starfighter (7959) set. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A_KyQjIm0Pg Apologies if it has already been covered Cheers Inger

I've recently moved to Brisbane and was wondering if there are any stores that generally get Lego sets earlier than other shops. Are the central city stores better or the suburban stores? Cheers Inger
