Doesn't matter how big the ships are. the real deal is that Space is Big and open. and you need to see stuff far away (navigation satelite anyone?) Space Signs in Cowboy Bebop were pretty well done I thought, they were much bigger than ships themselves, and were mostly made of bright holograms. Maybe you could do something with transparent bricks? Do you really mean Space Street Signs? They look to me like Cloud City Street Signs. For hovercars. Maybe that's what you mean't, it seems to fit your design better. If you want totally Space Signs, with no atmosphere or hovercar stuff, then I'd probably change them to have the writing visible from both sides, and have different street names pointing in different crazy directions (kinda like a real life street corner sign, except pointing Up, Down, left, right, etc since Space is 3d and you could fly all kinds of different ways)

The new Liberator x28 has nicer details But I like the overall Shape of the old version better. It might just be an optical illusion due to the new drooping wings, but the new one feels like the nose is too short and the tail is too long from a front 3/4 view. The first one with the wide horizontal wings gave me the impression of speed and power, like an arcade shooter spaceship, wheras the new version with droop wings gives me the impression that it's stubby and slower, but probably more manuverable. I guess because drooping wings always remind me of the Harrier. Anyhow wing preferences aside the biggest thing I would fix is the gaps in the nose on either side of the cocpit hinge. There is a piece that specifically is designed to fit in that gap but since you probably don't have one in blue, I'd just fill the gaps with either small guns or sensors. at the same time, you could make the cockpit taller so the pilot has better armroom.

Disclaimer: Its just my opinion, no offence to your differing opinion. In one word, Yes. This is what we call reputation. I do not discriminate people based on their age. It is unfair to do so. Whether you are 13 or 25, you should be given the same expectations of behaviour, and the same consequences to actions taken. Respect is not 'deserved' by default. If someone does something bad, they lose respect. If they do something good they gain respect. Thus it is possible that a spam banned member might lose respect, while an upstanding member might gain respect. To treat everyone with exactly the same 'respect' is to make it all meaningless. *shrug* It might be more funny to change the names slightly but keep them recognizable. This adds the humour value of 'an inside joke' to the spammer faction. If the person made fun of is a former member, then what they don't know won't hurt them, and if they Do reform and return, then they can defend themselves at that point. I don't see a problem here. On a funny side note (since you mentioned making fun of active memebers) for the longest time SuvieD, I thought you were a girl cause your name sounds femenine, almost like a name 'Susie D.'. Then you changed your avatar picture and I figured out you were a guy :-$ whoops.

In the former case, its OK since they aren't coming back, and anyone so bad that they won't change deserves it. In the latter case, its also OK since being made fun of and having a bad reputation is a valid consequence of spamming and being banned. Woot! everyone that matters wins

If they were current members it'd be bad.

What impresses me is how the managed to make the wall hold by a hinge on one end, and studs on the other; and still line up just right. Hinges are at the corners of bricks, and the studs are down the middle. So its a lot harder to calculate magic 3/4/5stud triangle ratios. Is it even a 3/4/5 triangle? or did you discover some other lengths that work out?

hmmh I guess its worth a shot I suspect that they probably wont' give me that kinda information though. will see... I was hoping that maybe someone here has heard a public statement from one of the lego ambassadors or whatnot...

I was wondering if anyone knows, do the terms of the StarWars licencing directly specify that Lego cannot build other Space-like sets? I understand that from a marketing standpoint they may not want multiple Space-like sets competing with each other. (actually I dont, I think more is better, but thats what people usually claim) But that aside, I just want to know if it was actually written in stone... Can you show me a reference proving it either way? Trying to solve an annoying discussion at BZPower... I'd hate for them to win... pesky kids... Thanks

Really Nice I'd like to know how you did the sides of the mouth, with the angled walls. New triangle technique?
-
Actually... if we do some math the body is doubled sideways as well as lengthwise so 2*2 = approximatly 4 times the volume of a slave1 either he used more than 2 Slave1s to build it, or added extra bricks in the right colors.
-
I think the reason is more that Lego doesn't consider gender discrepancies to be a Problem, than an issue of cost.

Thanks for all the compliments and suggestions everyone! I've got a revised version: Now with extra lasers. *slightly* better engine nozzles, still not the best, but with my parts limitations... What could those yellow cylinders under the wings be?... ...Retracable landing gear! Not the prettiest... kinda peglegs compared to most designs, but nice and unobtrusive when retracted. Radia wonders, how the heck is she supposed to get down from here? :-D

ShadowFire is my first totally freeform MOC spaceship since coming out of 'dark ages', I've built a few ships before this one, but they were Alternate Models or otherwise themed (exoforce ships, SW ships). The shape is influenced by the 'Pyro' series of ships as seen in the Descent computer game. Particularly the 'arrowhead' nose and swept wings are borrowed, however closer inspection of the proportions, and location of other features reveals indicates this is definetly a different ship. I did decide that the name should be a tribute to the Pyro though, hence ShadowFire. The overall construction is rather simplistic, its basically stacked bricks with the only major SNOT being the wings and engines mounted by click hinges(doesnt really count). Despite this I do think the shape came out beautifully, and of course it has a great color scheme, vetrans will remember BlackTron1. Cockpit details Interesting controls, they flip up to allow the pilot to climb out. The only areas that bother me at the moment, are the engine exhausts could use more detail - nothing too fancy though, or theyll mess up the overall body lines. and the lack of landing gear, at the moment its just a boat bottom. Cant think of a good way to add retractable legs though, without messing up the shape...

Yep, as far as the ExoForce theme/story goes, the Alt Models are getting the same canon treatment as the main models. Which is kinda.... contradictory seeing as how Lego isn't giving any instructions for them, just cutaway photos on the website.... the main model boxes advertise instructions online tho.... ohwell, doesn't bother me much but I can see why people are unhappy about it...

....Nevermind.... its none of my business

Huh Those New Rims look nice I think I'd rather have them then the ones in the photos... but thats just my opinion... can you fit a technic pin into the hole in the center? (on the front side, I already know the back side does that)

the brown, and the shape and the way the pilot lies on his back made me think: Space Coffin like how you see them launch space coffins out of the torpedo tubes into the sun in startrek?

I'm trying to build angled wings on a spaceship, and while click-hinges are nice, I'd like to try to do it using technic beams and triangles to get the angle Now, triangles present a special problem with Legos, since lego bricks come in Integral Stud lengths, with perhaps an allowance of 1/2 stud lengths if you use the offset beams, and maybe allowances of .4 stud lengths if you use stacks of plates between technic bricks. While this does allow us some freedom, in reality with the exception of a few special triangles we won't be able to build a perfect geometric match for a specified triangle and angle. I am OK with being close enough though, for example recently I discovered a 2, 4, 3.5 triangle that has less than .1% error in length for the hypotenuse - within the tolerance of lego brick manufacture. So my question is, does anyone have an "Almost Right Triangle" spreadsheet or calculator? Discovering them by accident takes a while.... Im looking for an angle of around 20-30 degrees, and its a small ship so the triangle has to be less than 5 studs at maximum dimension....

Yeah, I was starting to come to that conclusion too, use SNOTed plates as the side walls of the cockpit Means its going to be complicated making the SNOT bricks fit in there, and keeping everything strong.. huh, actually I just had an idea: use offset jumper bricks (those 1/2 stud offset tiles) to have tall cockpit sidewalls that are offset to allow arm room.(no more of those plates needed) This means on each side there would be 1/2 stud increase in overall width, for a 5stud cockpit instead of 4, but this is still relatively small and might achieve the same appearance....

Well, I just made a little ship (about the same size as your actually) and it also does that setup for the cockpit, with the pilot leaning backwards slightly and the helmet barely fitting in. I'm hoping that theres a way to get more room in there without having to get gaps on either side, I'm not happy with the slightly leaning backwards method, since this means the pilot can't lean forwards to reach controls. and it seems unrealistic to me, that a pilot wouldn't be able to move around in his seat to look in different directions... What would really be nice, is if those sidewall panels also came it 4 plates height, instead of the standard brick/ 3plates height. Does anyone know of a part like that? or maybe something that could work similarly? Really annoying canopy glass.... its 5 plates height.... just one more plate would solve all of this.. and also make it a more 'standard' 6plates / 2 bricks high....

Also, BZP's .Space has a bunch of horrible fan made themes that are usually full of equally bad creations. -l2k- I propose! that EB.Space only use 'factions' that do not already exist on BZP; not that I care about BZP people complaining that we rip them off, but because I agree that their factions are pretty stupid. I'd like to see a Drones faction, take the Drone Robots from ExoForce, and set them as peaceful but misunderstood space explorers.... (I've always considered the Robots to be to good guys, throwing off the oppression of their human masters...)

Hi there, can anyone give tips for building starship cockpits using this piece? It's a relatively new windscreen for me, (I've come out of "dark ages" recently) and its a little different from the old ones I'm used to, namely the size bothers me. It's shorter than what I'm used to. In fact, its just barely short enough so that a minifig sitting upright wearing a space helmet, bumps his head. You have to have him lean backwards to fit. Which is highly annoying for me, since I hate pilots who sleep on the job. Raising the canopy glass is not always a possiblity, since in typical 4 stud cockpit design, right below the glass on each side of the Pilot's arms, are these pieces: They more or less force the pilot to be at a specific height from the canopy glass itself because they lift his arms. Of course, if we had a cockpit that was wider than 4 studs, we could use other pieces for the sidewalls, but small ships are still a problem. So does anyone have any tips for how to make cockpit sidewalls that are compatible with that new windscreen glass? That also give the pilot plenty of arm and headroom? Thanks

I really like the design of the new Tiny Turbos (I do not use stickers either) but while they look nice, I am feeling that lego has been cutting costs with them a bit; the parts are a lot simpler compared to last year. TunerX is definetly the worst case of sticker abuse, and it looks terribly plain without stickers. I dont mind that much though, since that is the one car I bought just for the pieces. The other 3 look good enough without stickers, though their parts count is rather small.... I just bought the new Highway Haulers 4891 creator set, and I am very pleased with it. It makes vehicles in approximatly the same scale (maybe a few larger ones) as Tiny Turbos, but of course uses all bricks for details. Manage and modify the designs carefully, and you can make 2 or 3 cars from the pieces at the same time. at 10$USD compared with the 4$USD price of a single Tiny Turbo It's well worth it.

It might be better to credit it as based on BattleStar Galactica's Cylon Raider since thats probably where forcemaster got his reference from....
