  1. right then... I think you could do with less stars in the background, they are visually really distracting.... also, the right side of the box is slanted at the wrong angle, it should be vertical like the left side. lastly, did you use flash photography on the ship itself? it has some really harsh highlights on all the studs, if you could take the photo outdoors in natural light it might come out better.
  2. ... Well like I said The new SW sets arent very good in terms of MOCing parts. They all have the new SW windscreens and SW colors. Cant rebuild an old Classic Space set if you don't have the colors or the parts you wanted, right? What am I going to do with a silly windscreen that has a tie fighter pattern on it, or a jedi starfighter on it, or millenum falcon pattern.... all I want is some of these: but you have to concede, that the chances of them appearing in a set as long as SW is the focus theme is pretty slim. StarWars is about recreating sets that look just like the stuff from the movies, and that means, custom pieces all over the place that end up being not too useful elsewhere.... Any spaceship that uses a Tie Fighter Windscreen as its cockpit suddenly looks like its trying to copy the Tie Fighter cockpit....
  3. I'm more interested in the fact that they are available Somewhere to buy. any idea where those pics came from? store and country?
  4. This post does give me a Crazy Idea... some builders sell instructions for their own custom models (usually on cd or something nice) additionally, some sell bricks (bricklink for one) What If: some of the more talented fans of Classic Space, started building their own designs in the CS spirit, and started to sell instructions and the bricks to go with them? Would there be a big enough support market? Would Lego take the hint?
  5. I don't consider StarWars to be science fiction, and the exo-force stuff is rather.... mecha based. So while those themes look kinda 'tech-y or spacey' they don't really have the same attitude or spirit of the classic space themes. As far as these sets go for MOC space parts. Exo-Force, is ok, its mostly old system bricks and colors. SW is... kinda bad, since it uses a lot of specialized SW pieces and colors 'jedi-red', the *I wanted to say that this set contains a lot of big pieces but didn't want to take the time to write it all, so I used the word "<insert that tiresome argument>" instead* printed cockpits from the JediStarfighter or Tiefighter... for some examples, and consequently I find that even when building my own MOCs, if they used SW pieces they tend to end up looking StarWars-like.
  6. ??not sell in the short run?? what do you mean? I would think that nice little City additions like that would sell like hotcakes. Faster than the big expensive playsets that kids would only recieve for birthdays and christmas.
  7. hmmmh my TRU has an annoying lack of smaller City oriented sets as well as a lack of Technic no Fire Car, Doctors Car, Mini Digger, Police Car, none of the nice small sets... lots of bigger things that don't move though
  8. Flame Glider from Racers Tiny Turbos theme has some very nice orange curved slope pieces. As well as some orange plates. It's an older set, so it might be hard to find. Or you might get lucky like me and find it on clearance. I got 4 of them for 1.9$ USD each at Fry's Electronics. Uplink from Exo Force has 2 orange slopes, but probably is a bit much for just 2 pieces unless you specifically want them for a nose piece or somthing important. Exo Force Hero Tank looks like it will have a good number of organge pieces, but it's not released yet, and is probably going to be expensive...
  9. I got this set a while ago. My main complaints are... that there is no 'waist' joint; but this might just be a design oversight from Lucas himself... and that the 'hip' joints are fake; the very top of each leg is solid and can't actually rotate, which severely limits the action poses it can do; as Valentin illustrates in his photos.-legs can't swing forward much at all Anyhow, I got this set for the parts; not the model. 10 SNOT brackets! 4 of the big square ones and 6 of the long ones and 6 mini satellite dishes and then theres the Clone, with the red 'Marathon' symbol printed on him, as a Marathon and Halo fan I couldn't pass that up...
  10. *shrug* I'm used to building Mindstorms robots, so don't mind me and my articulation hangups....
  11. Looks really Good! my only concern is those upper leg sections, with the double 'thigh'. Having the upper leg hinged by two bars like that looks nice, but unless you can get a working piston cylinder for one of them, i'd think it actually limits the leg motion... the technic rods probably pop out of the ball joints too easily when posing... so, if you have the parts... id consider redoing the upper leg joints with technic steering links and pnumatic cylinders... or shock absorber springs tho the yellow would throw off the appearance, depends what you want i guess.....
  12. Looks like she comes with 2 boyfriends. lucky girl... ;-) well.... its a good way to get a femfig.... but the 2 to 1 ratio is still unfair that particular set is not availble in my country, at my local TRU tho I did see similar 'basic buckets' the 10$ one came with 1 male minifig, the 20$ one had 1 male and 1 female. outnumbered, and more expensive :-( P.S. I was looking through peeron.com for female minifig heads availability, and ran into this. Woman's Football Team 6 femfigs in one set! Now where can I get one....
  13. I see a bunch of them at my TRU for 20$USD does it have any ball joints? not the sockets, but the tiny single balls with the technic hole in them? I see a few matoran skulls.... how about the clear 'brain' pieces? How many Rahkshi can you make? i see a few back pieces... thanks... humh.... 20$ is cheap.... but im not too sure i am interested in bionicle... not sure what the use of the pieces is since i mostly make System spaceships and stuff... occasionally you can combine a few bionicle pieces for a really unusal detail.... but its hard to make them look... notBionicle
  14. Okay, snefroe1's interpretation is the only one that sounds plausible to me... But... I still don't really get it... I don't believe that being different means people have to be separate. So, its almost like the people who made that poster believe racism is inevitable because people are different? Isn't that ... endorsing racism? Bottom line, this poster is dumb because whatever message it may be trying to convey, is lost on me. A message that cannot be conveyed to an audience (me) is useless.
  15. Im not sure the poster makes sense to me.... 'i dont get it' whats it trying to say? I see a puzzle piece, and a lego brick and some text... 'racism can take many forms' What does a puzzle and a lego have to do with racism? Sorry if im a little dense... can someone explain to me what the poster is trying to say?
  16. That is actually the way one of the BZP admins Binkmeister writes his reviews. vahkimetru just copied his style. No he didn't, its how I do reviews, Binkmeister must be copying me! Vahkimetru is ok tho, anyone is allowed to use my review style except for bzpower, since I am morally against that forum. ;-) Anyhow.... With this set, as with all other Tie fighters, I am very dissapointed that lego 'cheated' and made a custom windshield with custom tiefighter printing. I personally would have used a clear radar dish piece as the window glass with this piece surrounded by 8 robot arms as the metal frame stuff around it.
  17. Yup I'm not ever getting this Hospital set Fireman's Car with hospital colors... 3$ Helicoptor... looks like a 7$ set to me some simple rooms made of mostly basic bricks.... 20$ at most baseplate.... whatever I am not seeing this set being worth 50$.... sorry about the USD prices.....but you get the idea....
  18. Nice review, good photos. Thats a Really Small hospital.... I think it'd be better off if they took the pieces and made it into a 1floor clinic instead... that would look decent... but still overpriced I think...
  19. Just called my nearest Lego Store and had them look at their new releases catalog for me. Sounds like these new racers don't come out in the USA till fall. ohwell you guys are lucky
  20. Darn... I forgot the mouth... Okay, how about this: carefully remove the funny headband from batman's head but rather than paint a new one on the back glue a very thin piece of white plastic or paper to the inside of the cowl/helmet/mask piece? I was wondering about the technic rod that connects the little jetski thing to the boat, is the rod just a normal 3rod? or does it have a stopper on one end that keeps it anchored inside?
  21. Now that is just Genius! great idea batman's face is simple enough that you just might be able to carefully wipe that white band off, and paint a new one on the back too (got to be careful that you don't lose his eyebrows is all...) ...and actually, now that I check peeron.com... the old stormtroopers and darth vader helmets have painted visors with normal faces underneath That means that all these new minifigs with deformed and missing faces, someone thought was a 'Good idea', ugh!
  22. Dunno why they can't just make helmets (both the clones and batman) with No eye holes instead. Just an indentation with painted eyes that are part of the helmet.... Then we'd win both ways, nice helmet, normal face underneath....
  23. Nice review After Seeing your pics of those jet engines and how theyre attached I can see one place where Lego Really Missed Out on the playability features They should have put wheels on the bottom of the boat, so you can glide it around your desk With technic rods connecting the swiveling engines, to swiveling wheels directly below them so turning the engines also turns little wheels (use airplane caster wheels) for steering Now that would have really been Awesome too bad I don't work for Lego.... I'd have pointed it out first thing, not that complicated to build.... If I wasnt buying this set for the parts to build an ORCA then I'd definetly add wheels... maybe someone else can do that mod...
  24. I think I've seen that set you describe in ToyFair photos, its a car garage or something right? Haven't seen that one or the police car or blue car in the USA yet.
  25. Aside from the 4 Tiny Turbos that are already released... It would seem that there are 2 more for later this year Anyone heard when theyre coming out? It would seem that someone on brickshelf has managed to find them early... http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1659943 http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=1659944
